2 Page 2 of 5 Worthy Patron Derailed! Carol Weser & Jain Fairfax Hello All, Monday night, April 4th was our annual flower planting for our members we don't get to see much, shut-in's, and others who need a pick-meup. This year we went "green" and recycled some of our Eastern Star cups. Sandy Caster's friend, Linda Ponce, who is an artist, painted "Special Friends," added a cute stick figure, flowers and designs on them. Marigolds were among 4 other types of flowers that were planted in these cute cups. Gravel was placed on the bottom before the potting, and on top for decorative purposes. We did approximately 36 plants. It was a wonderful evening, thanks to all who planted, delivered, and kept conversation and encouragement going. As I always say, "There's nothing like, food, fun & fellowship that makes an evening great. Submitted by, Michele Doss Associate Conductress Soon after the officers were installed our Worthy Patron found out that State Farm Insurance, headquartered in Rohnert Park where his wife our member Ramona has worked for 35 years was closing. After many many hours, and days of soul searching the decision was made that they would move with the Company to Bakersfield. Our Worthy Patron Jay s last meeting was May 16th. They do hope to come back up from time to time. In the meantime our Associate Patron will step up to the plate. When he can t due to his work schedule, we have several Past Patrons willing put on that conductor hat for the night. We will miss Jay and Ramona and wish them well in their new home. They won t be idle long because their names and phone numbers are already out in the Bakersfield area! Daughters, Stacey, Jackie and Ashlee will remain behind. They are our members and we will be keeping an eye out for them. 4 Page 4 of 5 Slow Dance Witten by a NY Teen with Cancer Have you ever watched kids On a merry-g-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping the ground? Ever followed a flight? Or gazed at the sun into The fading night? You better slow down. Do you run through each day On the fly? When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head? Ever told your child, And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let god friendship die Cause you never had time When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, Thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower Hear the Music Before the song is over. Oh Yeah, Apple Pies coming!! Get the word out! We will be making apple pies Sunday August 7 th. 5 Page 5 of 5 Greetings from Rainbow! Terri Ewing, Mother Advisor Goodness, how time flies! Seems I was just doing an update at the beginning of Christmas joke: the term, and now here we are already at the end. What do you call a person Rainbow has been busy, to say the least. February who is afraid started of Santa us Claus? off with an awesome reception for our Grand Officer Vanessa Creaser (also an OES Sister), Claustrophobic! We would love to hear from our DeMolay and Jobs Daughters as well. Installations Ooh ooh We need to divide up June 4 th 7:30 PM At Seventh St. & Rainbow June 4 th 7:00 pm At Scottish Rite on Acacia Blue Ic bringing us a new member, and we had a jewelry making & cupcake decorating (and eating!) membership party, which was lots of fun. In March we had our area Ritual competition, where several of our girls competed and did very well. The girls also went to the Ceramics studio for a mystery trip, where they really showed their creative and artistic talents in the variety of items they made. n as Grand Assembly. What an exciting time we had! Vanessa was beautiful on the floor, as were our Grand Choir girls, Observer Helper, and Grand Marshal. We had girls perform in Ritual, Arts & Crafts, Poetry and Sew & Show. Our current Worthy Advisor, Emma Doolittle, was named to the Service Court for 2011! We also won the exciting enough, we were honored with appointments of TWO new Grand Officers! Sister Ashlee Mendenhall was given the office of Grand Recorder and Representative to Maryland & West Virginia, and Sister Janet Newell was appointed Grand Circulation Manager (for the State Rainbow newspaper) and Representative to Oregon & Brazil. Wow!! May brings us a beach clean up, participation in the Rose Parade, and traveling to Scottish Rite Masonic Center. Janet Newell will be going in as Worthy Advisor, and we would love to have lots of visitors for the special evening! See you there! Our Rainbow Girls aka Eastern Star members as well! Dawn and Vanessa Creaser Janet Newell and Ashlee Mendenhall Santa Rosa Assembly With Amber Balshaw Chaperoning!
