1 ethos vbc newsletter Love God. Love Others. Love Volleyball. MARCH Green wins the NASA Bash Tournament Gearing up for the late season push I m sure some of you are aware, but our calendar is back-loaded with tons of tournaments in April & May and our practice philosophy is geared towards peaking at the END of the season. As we prepare for the final push, I encourage you to remember the following 4 points: 1. Try to approach each practice with the goal of improving in 1 particular area (serving a zone, passing off your left, etc.) 2. Mentally & physically prepare for the final push by getting plenty of rest and being AHEAD on your homework 3. Know that winning and playing well/getting better are NOT the same thing - always value the benefit of playing a good opponent 4. Hard work always pays off sometimes now, sometimes down the road, but always eventually 14Elite huddling up before a match Website: 17Elite wins Silver at the NASA Bash Tournament FB: ethosvbc
2 BEACH Gearing up for our 4 th season As we approach the start of our 4 th season, Ethos Beach is excited to see some new faces come out to participate and to announce some new Directors of the Beach program. Over the past three years, over 80 kids have played in the Ethos Beach program with over 180 attending the camps/tournaments. If you are interested in playing, be sure to check out the Ethos Beach page online and come to the tryouts on Saturday April 23 from 9-11am at Centennial Park (downtown Nashville). Before coming to tryouts, be sure to sign up in advance under the Tryout tab online so we have your contact information. You can register by yourself or with a partner and both girls & boys divisions are available. You won t want to miss the exceptional improvement in ball control you ll learn in the sand or the fun you ll have in the sun Season runs all of May & June Tryouts April 23 Centennial Park
3 Ethos All-Star Teams Announced Ethos is excited to announce the return of our All-Star Program, a program designed to reward the top players from all our 4 branches with 2 extra months of practice and a trip to the largest tournament in the world (AAU Nationals in Orlando). Last year AAU Nationals had over 1900 teams participate and they are expecting even more this year. This is an amazing opportunity for our top players to compete against the best in the world, to train alongside the Elite teams and to get noticed by tons of college coaches. The All-Star program will be coached by the top coaches at Ethos and will pull players from many different teams who are committed to playing high-level volleyball. Currently, Ethos VBC has over 300 kids who play in our program so to be selected for the All-Star team is a HUGE honor. While many players were nominated for the program, only a at each age group were chosen to attend the tryouts and only 11 made the team so please help me in congratulating the following All-Star players: 12U ALL-STARS Name Team Qierra Gregory 121North Renee Keck 121North Elizabeth Rogers 121North Campbell Hubbard 121North Audrey Bates 12Black Callie Goodwin 12Black Isabella LePore 12Black Maya Gipson 12East Natalee McDonald 12East Ansley Dunn 13Black Avery LePore 13Black Catey Russell 122North Head Coach Jamie Pennington Ast. 5 Life in Pictures Competition As we enter the final 2 months of the season, we are starting a new campaign/competition that requires no skill, height or athleticism. It is open to Ethos players, parents, grandparents and even just casual Ethos fans. Since this is the social generation, we will be competing in a manner worthy of the times: in PICTURES! The competition is simply called Ethos our volleyball life in pictures and here are the steps: 1. Take tons of pictures at tournaments, at practice, at meals, at the hotels hanging out, etc. 2. Post the photos to social media (twitter, facebook, Instagram) 3. Tag the Ethos account (@ethosvbc, #ethosvbc, facebook/ethosvbc) Ethos will put the best pictures from these last 2 months on the front page of the website, in the monthly newsletter, on our Facebook/Twitter/Instagram account and might even print some out to hang on the walls at the facility. Make it fun, be goofy and most of all take lots of pictures. Any subject can be fun: braiding hair, warming up, sharing a carride, etc. and unlike the Lottery, the more pictures you post, the BETTER your chances of winning. The top 5 pictures will get free Ethos gear and shout-outs from our Ethos accounts and may hang in the Ethos facility for years to come. Classy like Peyton Manning Cam Newton would be proud
