2 Barbados Cricket Tour 2012 Saturday 24 th March Thursday 5th April 2012 As departure draws nearer, we are sure you are all keen to be well prepared. To ensure that this happens, and to assist the smooth running of the tour, we have produced this booklet which we hope includes all relevant information. Mobile phones and electronic equipment for the journey can be brought at the student s own risk. Please make sure they are named and covered on your insurance.

3 CLOTHING AND PERSONAL EFFECTS CHECK LIST Please ensure that you have all the required in good condition. This includes white trousers, batting/ fielding equipment, footwear and your casual clothes. 4 THINGS TO REMEMBER A VALID British passport (to be handed in to staff on arrival at school). Students will be unable to travel if their passport is out of date. VERY IMPORTANT high factor sunblock/sunscreen/after sun(pocket-sized) to be carried at all times. You can never have too much. Swim shorts to be carried in hand luggage for arrival in Barbados. Pocket money: We recommend taking $100 dollars. All inclusive board covers all meals and drink on hotel site but students will need to buy their drinks when not on site. It is worth carrying a small amount of Sterling en route (approx. 20) to and from the airports for motorway services and breakfast at the airport. Medication: Please make sure that all medicines are clearly named, including inhalers, and that staff are given written information about all medication.

8 GENERAL RULES OF BEHAVIOUR STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOUR Obviously, we hope the pupils will enjoy this trip but we shall be grateful if you will emphasise to your son the importance of absolute obedience. We wish to stress the following rules: 1. He should be punctual at all times. He must be present at ALL hotel meals as staff use meal times for essential notices and for other important details of administration and supervision. 2. He should never go off alone or accept lifts in cars. 3. He should not leave the hotel after the evening meal without telling a member of the school staff where he intends to go and to gain approval. (We cannot be held responsible for those who fail to do this or who go somewhere other than to the approved place.) 4. If unwell, he must report it to the school staff so that appropriate action may be taken. WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO IGNORE SUCH ADVICE AND WARNINGS. Rules regarding alcohol and other substances Whilst the school rules on alcohol clearly state that consumption is not allowed these rules may be relaxed for some activities where it is deemed appropriate. The consumption of alcohol on school trips is a privilege which may be withdrawn at any time. Pupils aged 16 and over may drink wine and beer in moderation provided they have parental permission and it is in accordance with the licensing laws of the country being visited. No spirits may be consumed at any time during the trip. No alcohol should be purchased in resort other than in those bars designated by staff. Students are not permitted to purchase alcohol in shops. No alcohol is allowed in hotel rooms. The usual school rules on smoking and other substances apply. If staff consider that a pupil is behaving irresponsibly, his permission to drink alcohol will be removed. In serious cases, the pupil may be flown home at their parent s expense and the Head will be informed. The guiding principle should be that, at all times, the pupils should behave as their parents and teachers would wish them to behave, whether they are present or not. The Stamford Endowed Schools have an excellent record and we do not anticipate any behavioural problems but, if there are, we shall inform you at the appropriate time.
