1 CTF CONNECTION Published by the Canadian Tenpin Federation, Inc. Fédération Canadienne des Dix-Quilles, Inc. November 2009 FROM THE DESK OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR This has been a fast start to the season as it is November already. To date, approximately 10% of our membership cards have been processed, with a number of databases coming in daily. We would like to thank those associations that have sent their databases in early. There are still awards being submitted from last season and a few for this season. Just as a reminder National Office cannot process new awards until an up to date database has been received from the local association. National Office and the Youth Unit have received a number of inquiries regarding the new youth eligibility rule. This change represents a major benefit to our youth bowlers across the country in hopes that we will be able to retain them in our youth programs. At our Executive meeting held in Ottawa, it was determined that further clarification was needed regarding youth returning to youth leagues who decided to join adult leagues over the past few years. As no rule exists regarding re-instatement, our youth who are still age eligible can return to youth leagues without applying for re-instatement to the CTF National Office. We are in the final stages of preparing our new website for launch later in November. The new look website will provide more flexibility in managing the site and the ability to add features not available on the old site. Fundraising is needed in all organizations to offset program and operating costs, and we are no different. Lamontagne Chocolates has approached the National Robin Orlikowski was the only member of Team Canada to earn a medal at the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) championships held in September at Puerto Rico. Robin is a Canadian citizen who lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a multitime member of Team Canada. Office regarding its Easter Boutique Chocolate Program to help us launch a National Fund Raising Program that all associations and leagues can participate in. Our goal this year is to sell 2,000 boutiques (cases) across Canada!! This campaign is a WIN-WIN program for all as funds raised will be distributed in 5 areas: 20% to the Canadian Youth Championships to offset the costs of hosting this major youth tournament; 20% to future youth programs and scholarships for example the new youth handicap tournament that is in development stage to replace the old Pepsi Championships; 20% to Team Canada to offset rising travel costs for both the adult and youth teams; 20% will be administered by CTF to built an assurance fund to enable it to become self insured for bonding our leagues; and finally 20% will be returned to the associations or leagues that sell the boutiques to enhance their programs at the grass roots level. Further details and order forms will be sent to all associations and leagues later this month. NOW IS THE TIME TO STEP UP AND SUPPORT OUR SPORT IN THIS NATIONAL FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN. Respectfully Submitted by Stan May CTF Executive Director ############### TEAM CANADA S ORLIKOWSKI WINS SILVER MEDAL AT PABCON WOMEN S MASTERS EVENT On the way to the silver medal, Robin beat Shannon Pluhowski, USA in three games; Roccio Restrepo, Colombia in two games, and Clara Guerrero, Colombia in three games.
