President s Report Reflecting on another year for our organisation, it seems this has been a year of uncertainty and change for cricket broadly. The recent Cricket Australia/ACA player contract negotiations, implications for funding and ensuring the large growth of female participation is accommodated, highlight some of the changes and the challenges ahead for our sport at all levels. Firstly, congratulations to the players of our Representative team, who with Coach, Lance Roudenko who went all the way this year in winning the Plunkett Cup. Under the leadership of Captain Alex Thompson, the team overcame Toowoomba (241) in the final with a score of 7/244. Having claimed the crown, the Team has accepted the challenge to step up a level into Webb Shield in the coming season. This step should be great for their development and permeate those higher skills back into the day to day Warehouse competition. Again, I wish to recognise the volunteers across the organisation and our member clubs and teams who have contributed countless hours to providing a quality, safe and inclusive sport for our members. Whilst Laurence Christie does some paid hours in his development role, he also spends many volunteer hours working on competitions, overseeing draws, grounds preparation and adjusting ground allocations to the many uncertainties that inevitably arise. He is particularly supported by Peter Pfeffer in his dual roles as Statistician and Treasurer, Hitesh Rathod (HR) in multi-roles as Secretary, Commissioner and managing the Rep Team with Troy Burns, who also fulfils roles as Deputy Chair and in the Competitions and Rules Committee. Apart from these people, this year saw us adopt a slightly larger committee, with a number of new committee members providing a broader representation and voice from our diverse membership base. In an age of ever increasing demands on volunteers time, this has been a necessary and successful change. My appreciation goes to all the other committee members for their valuable input and assistance with special thanks to those committee retiring this year. 6 HR has particularly spent significant time on player qualifications, with a number of teams seemingly not that aware of the requirements and experiencing adverse outcomes accordingly. This is a work in progress, with some modifications to the qualification rules recently made. The issue of player exemption guidelines seems to have come to the forefront recently and the committee has further work to do refining this process to improve outcomes. It's an inexact process balancing the interests of friends with a range of skill levels seeking to play together versus keeping competition as even as is reasonably practical. Further in the domain of the Commissioner, although reasonably uncommon, there does seem to have been a slight increase in the instances of poor behaviour, resulting in a range of penalties being handed down. Player behaviour will continue to attract close attention in the upcoming season. Thanks again to Neil Simpson and Peter Mathieson (Matho) and their fellow umpires for their efforts in working to provide an umpire for almost every match, every weekend. No doubt that would be easy if everyone put was prepared their hand up to be an umpire. However, with the expectations we players place on them, it's a wonder we can cover any matches at all. Again, Neil and Matho always welcome constructive feedback on MyCricket to help umpires improve their 'game'. Thanks also to our grounds staff for their work getting quality pitches out there with so many weather variables at play. Delivering turf pitches a week, Saturday and Sunday, summer and winter with just 4 staff is a serious challenge. Some issues with a couple of grounds was rectified thanks to their directed efforts. The recent addition of new roller, thanks to a successful grant with Allan Donovan's efforts, has been welcomed. A program of pursuing grants to update other ageing equipment is underway and I'm sure will continue to pay dividends into the future. Thanks also go to our Canteen Operators Warren 'Wazza' & Karen Finegan at Kianawah and Dan and Anne Pasikowski at Marchant Park. Their service to our members is greatly appreciated. Wazza has also been invaluable in his input and assistance with Warehouse functions. Thanks yet again to the excellent photography of Doug O'Neill for his match day photos that continue to have quite a following on Facebook, he seems to have a knack of catching our castles going down at just at the key moment. 7 Children enjoy free rides at Awards Arvo at Kianawah Park Left: HR - "Kohli" & Councillor Ryan as Southpine Dragons win A1 Pennant Based on suggestions from the previous member survey, a summer season trophy presentation format comprising a free family afternoon event at Kianawah Park was trialled. Around people attended, only slightly down on the former trophy night format. Almost all teams were represented at the afternoon, as were most of the bating award winners; it was observed many bowling award winners were not there (draw your own conclusions as you wish). The incoming committee will review the preferred format. The winter trophy night was a great night drawing a bumper crowd, with Geoff (Thommo) Thomson holding the audience of adults and juniors captive with his stories. It was great to see many juniors who never saw Thommo play lining up for autographs and photos, just awestruck by the reputation of the man. Winter Trophy Night no doubt will continue to be our nights of nights. We trialled celebrating Pink Stumps Day in the One-day matches, giving the pink ball a run. It was great to see clubs getting into the Pink spirit raising $4,615 to support families who are battling this terrible disease. It was also great to be able to provide some hospitality comprising afternoon tea and a few drinks on the 'lawn' at No. 10 to some of the ladies of Warehouse Cricket. I hope Warehouse can continue to support this great cause in whatever form people chose. A full season trial of the Pink Ball was implemented in the winter season just drawing to a close. It seems most people observed the ability to sight the ball was a vast step up particularly in the later afternoon against dark backgrounds. which was a win for spectators. Some people seemed to find concerns on dewey fields, and also where balls spent a lot of time on the nearby carparks and roads (some of the big units out there do like to cart the ball a long way). PAGE 7 This Annual Report printed with the support of Konica Minolta Qld

As always, Gabba were most willing to swap any balls that are not highest quality, and take those learnings back into their supply and production chain. As of now, our members have in the majority indicated a preference for the red ball for the upcoming summer season. The number of junior teams this winter is an extremely pleasing result and pie in the face to the cricket is dying critics. These players represent over 60 teams of 13 to 16 year olds (along with a number of 'father and son's teams sprinkled throughout the grades) choosing cricket as their summer AND winter sport. No doubt many of these will pursue this love of cricket into their adult years in Warehouse and other competitions. Put with the growth of female participation, the future of cricket looks pretty exciting. Warehouse offered a female competition this winter, but without attracting sufficient numbers this time. In consultation with Qld Cricket, we will continue to seek ways to provide suitable competitions as female participation grows. We continue to provide grounds to Qld Cricket for their female development programs. Our engagement with Qld Cricket has continued to grow over the past year with one of our Executive Committee meetings being held in the Boardroom of Queensland Cricket with Qld Cricket Board, Chairman Sal Vasta and CEO Max Walters. We thank both Sal and Max for their time in discussing how we can work together for the betterment of both organisations and our sport. We recognise both organisations share many challenges and we appreciate their support. Warehouse also attended the Brisbane Premier Cricket Awards in April, which was an inclusive gesture appreciated by both organisations. As Chairman, it was an honour to present our two major awards. Southpine Dragons received the the A1 Premiership (Bardwell Shield) and the Club Championship (Chuter Shield) was presented to the Gold Crest Cricket Club before the assembled guests. Thanks as always goes to our great sponsors, led again by Gabba Sporting Products. Gabba will continue to supply affordable cricket balls into at least 2019 (under the current contract) and also supports Warehouse in many less obvious ways including team apparel and sponsorship. It's a constant challenge to keep fees as low as reasonably practical and the support of our sponsors greatly assists in this. As I concluded last year, thank you again for all who contribute so much to our great sport and our organisation. I have every confidence that with that continued contribution that we will continue to do well providing safe and inclusive sport in the face of (the ever more evident) variables of the future. Andrew Middleton (Chairman) PAGE 8 This Annual Report printed with the support of Konica Minolta Qld

Rep Team & Competitions Report In our Eighth year back with Representative Cricket, Warehouse again entered the Plunket Cup and remaining undefeated against teams from Beaudesert, Logan, Ipswich, Churches Association, Toowoomba and Qld Sub Districts. It was a very successful year for our Players, firstly becoming Minor Premiers and then playing in our 5 th Grand Final where we hosted Toowoomba at Marchant Pk 10. 10 Special mention is also extended to Michael Schloss (Ferny Districts) and Nathan Murray (South Pine Dragons) who also played during the season. (Left: Mick Turner acknowledges his 50 in setting up a successful run chase.) The Grand-final lived up to its name where in a tightly fought match, Warehouse Cricket (7/244 - Mick Turner - 77) prevailed over Toowoomba (241 - Kyle Hope 3/41) to win their 5 th Plunkett Cup in eight (8) years. Our sincere appreciation goes to Lance Roudenko as coach, to GABBA Sporting products who supplied the team with 1 day and training uniforms. Team Managers Troy Burns and Hitesh Rathod (HR) with Scorer, Eddie Mills gave solid support to the on-field team. Arif Mansuri was named Warehouse Representative Player of the year. Premier Grade champions were South Pine Dragons and Club Champions were Gold Crest This years THE LAURENCE CHRISTIE MEDAL winner was James Smith of Peninsula. This year the Warehouse Northside vs. Southside was put on hold but will return for the coming Summer season. The winner of the Cartwright Cup, was Mater Hill Cricket Club who prevailed over Tabla Cricket Club. Macgregor Cricket Club took out the Plate Grade and North West Range carried away the Junior Prize. PAGE 10 This Annual Report printed with the support of Konica Minolta Qld

Code of Conduct Report The role of Commissioner within WCAQ is to provide players, umpires and the Executive Committee with a respected process for investigating incidents both on and off the field, where and when they occur. In a same instance, Commissioner expects, that all Players and members participating in WCAQ run cricket competitions, are automatically bound by and required to comply with all of the provisions of the, laws, by-laws and Code of Conduct aspects. Importantly, Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it is to be played not only within its Laws, by-laws and code of Conduct, but also within the spirit of the game. Any action seen as abusing this spirit causes injury to the game itself. The Code of Conduct is intended to protect and enshrine such important qualities and standards, including the spirit of the game, so that all participating players and members, may continue to enjoy the game of cricket now and in the future. It is Commissioner s expectation that - it is all Players and members participating, their personal responsibility to familiarise themselves with all of the requirements of the - laws, by-laws and Code of Conduct, including what behaviour constitutes an offence under the Code of Conduct. Over the past 12 months we had number of cases reported, prompting in-depth investigation by the Commissioner and his team and in total there were 5 cases (as per the below table), where the players were deemed by the Commissioner to have a charge/s to answer, charged players/s in return accepted an offered penalty without the need to convene a Code of Conduct hearing. If a player did not accept an offered penalty, then the Code of Conduct provision of a penalty of double that originally offered would have been imposed if proven guilty of the charge, during a Code of conduct hearing. When signing on for the season, all players are required to acknowledge that they are aware of the Code of Conduct and as such there should be no reason for breaches of the Code during any season. However, incidents do occur and cases that have been reported, have been actioned by the Commissioner, during the Summer season & the 2016 Winter season. 15 Treasurer s Report The 2016/17 financial year was another fairly quiet year for the Warehouse Executive financially. The No Play No Pay scheme Warehouse Cricket implemented last season, where teams no longer having to pay wicket fees for washed out games has been relatively successful. While we would prefer no rain on match days, fortunately for our bank balances, rained out matches were in keeping with the budgeted levels. Warehouse Cricket was successful in a grant application for $33,700 from the Gaming Machine Benefit fund, which together with a $5000 co-payment from Warehouse Cricket, a new Roller was purchased for the Grounds Team at Marchant Park to replace our very aged existing roller and enable ongoing preparation of our wickets. Laurence Christie continued in his role as the part-time Development Officer. Laurence continues to be his usual tireless hardworking self and provides endless support and assistance on numerous projects and issues. On behalf of the Warehouse Executive, I would like to thank him for his continual efforts in this role. I would also like to thank Qld Cricket as well as the three levels of Government for their financial support for community projects, both big and small, which have greatly assisted Warehouse Cricket to provide excellent facilities to our cricketers. Our major sponsor, Gabba Sporting Products continued their close relationship with Warehouse Cricket. The Gaskell Family of Mark, Dustin and Mitchell are good friends of the Association and seek to assist Warehouse Cricket wherever possible. Gabba Sporting Products provide a Sponsorship package that includes cash, equipment/balls for the general competitions and clothing for our Rep Team, all of which is of significant financial benefit to the Association. In turn, this plays a significant role in keeping the costs of playing cricket to a minimum. Regards Peter Pfeffer Treasurer (See Audited Financial Statements at the end of this Annual Report) PAGE 15 This Annual Report printed with the support of Konica Minolta Qld

A review of the past year of cricket provided by the Warehouse Cricket Association has seen the number of teams competing in the various competitions holding up reasonably well with respect to last year. Senior teams in the winter competition have reduced slightly but replaced by an increase in the junior teams. Our Umpires Association remains strong in numbers. Saturday summer fixtures were all provided with a badged umpire. Some fixtures saw a surplus of three or four umpires. Unfortunately, Sunday summer fixtures are not all supported by a badged umpire as some umpires are not available on both days. In winter, with the assistance of umpires from other Associations, all Sunday fixtures are allocated a badged umpire but the Saturday fixtures are a handful of umpires short of full allocation. A few players were reported again this year by umpires for conduct detrimental to the game of cricket. The Warehouse Commissioner dealt with all these reports expeditiously and the relevant players received the appropriate penalties. It was with sadness that we saw the passing of our respected colleague Ian Midgley in July last year. Ian was a gentle man and a very good umpire who was Warehouse Cricket Umpires Association PAGE 16 This Annual Report printed with the support of Konica Minolta Qld well respected by the players in the A1/Premier grade where he performed the majority of his umpiring. Ted McCann, Morris Mersky and Brian O Rourke also retired during the year. Ted and Morris umpired for many years mainly at Kianawah Park, and Brian joined our association from Queensland Cricket Umpires Association close to ten years ago. Brian was also a popular umpire and also was our ground manager at Kianawah Park for several years. Our Honorary Secretary, Neil Simpson, was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in recognition of his enormous contribution to cricket through his involvement in the Warehouse Cricket Association. Neil is currently in his twenty-ninth year as Secretary of our Association. I am sure everyone will join me in congratulating Neil for this well deserved honour. I extend my sincere thanks to the Executive of the Warehouse Cricket Association for their support of our association. In closing, I wish to congratulate all umpires on a job well done and to the players, good luck for this and future seasons. Peter Mathieson (President)
