2 TENNESSEE FORESTRY A SSOCIATION 2018 ANNUAL MEETING Thursday Events Descriptions FLY F FISHING AT ROAN MTN. STATE PARK Enjoy an early autumn afternoon fly fishing in the Doe River at Roan Mountain State Park. Transportation will be provided. A boxed lunch will be available. A TN fishing license and TWRA trout stamp are required. The Doe River is cool enough year round to be home to three species of trout. Native brook trout, rainbow and brown are stocked regularly. TFA members will enjoy a fishing adventure in the mountains those fish are just waiting to bite! Kevin Hoyt will serve as tour group leader. Registration Fee: $25.00 (lunch included, transportation provided) HIKE H ON ROAN MOUNTAIN A fall afternoon, good friends, and a gentle breeze, what could be more perfect! TFA members will enjoy an easy hike on Roan Mountain and look out over ridges with breath taking views and hear the creek babbling a long side of the hiking trail. Roan Mountain is known for its rich hardwood forest. Was Roan Mountain named for Daniel Boone's horse that grazed there after a tough trip? Was it named for the roan color of the mountain when viewed from a distance? The history of the area is part of the adventure! Lunch will be provided before the hike. Registration Fee: $25.00 (lunch included, transportation provided) GOLF G TOURNAMENT TFA T golfers will enjoy a 12:15 p.m. tee-time on the gorgeous Cattails Golf Course in Kingsport. The links style front nine offers gently rolling terrain, combined with greenside mounds and bunkers. The back nine features a target golf experience meandering through the woods, highlighted by two risk-and-reward par 5's. The Cattails is considered one of the best public golf courses in Tennessee. The Denis Griffiths design, Par 71 course offers wide fairways and large putting greens. The winding stream throughout the course adds to the scenic pleasure of the Cattails setting with the mountains in the background. Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens highlight the course. Registration Fee: $45.00 (includes green fees, lunch, refreshments) SKEET/TRAP SHOOT TFA shooting enthusiasts will head to the Unaka Rod and Gun Club for an afternoon of skeet and trap shooting. Unaka Rod and Gun Club offers a picturesque setting for an afternoon of challenging fun. Shotgun fields are comprised of two skeet/trap combination fields, one trap field and one skeet field. A boxed lunch will be provided. Please bring own shells (4 boxes) and gun. Registration Fee: $50.00 (Lunch provided) DOWNTOWN BRISTOL TOUR/ BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM VISIT Enjoy lunch in a local café, dessert at a delightful bakery, visit the Birthplace of Country Music Museum and do a little shopping at unique and fun shops in Bristol. Celebrate the birth and development of the roots of country music in the mountains of Tennessee and Virginia. The group will also visit the internationally acclaimed Benjamin Walls Art Gallery. Bristol is a lovely city with local folks welcoming TFA members with true southern hospitality. State Street is the dividing line between Tennessee and Virginia, and the city is proud of its history as well as its reputation as a progressive city today. Spend a relaxing afternoon with TFA friends and explore upper East Tennessee as leaves start to change and fall is in the air.
