2 Transportation: The Coeur d'alene Resort is located 40 minutes east of the Spokane International Airport, offering non-stop or one-stop access from most major US and Canadian cities. Airport transfers are available from Spokane to the resort. Please note that self-parking costs $17 per night while valet parking is $22 per night (not included in package). If you were to ask me what I thought was the most beautiful venue in the Inland Northwest, the Coeur d Alene Resort would have to be at the top of my list. Handicaps will be verified at our Event Briefing and Reception, so have your ghin card or recent scorecards ready. If you arrive late, your welcome packet will be delivered to you at dinner. 3-Day Tournament Format: The tournament will include golf for three days. Golfers will participate in a 54-hole medal play tournament utilizing the player s USGA-recognized full handicap. Prizes will be awarded to the men s, super senior men s and ladies Overall Low Net winners. An Event Champion (lowest gross score) will be named. Long Drive and Closest to the Pin contests will be held. Payment: Final payment for this event is due to NSGA by May 1, A down payment of 33% of the anticipated total is due at booking. Payment can be charged directly to any major credit card by calling NSGA at At the conclusion of the event, you will be expected to pay the resort directly for any incidental expenses incurred during your stay. Credits/ Refunds: A full, no-questions-asked refund is available until March 1, A full refund, less a $200 handling fee is available from March 1 April 30. A partial refund is available after May 1. In May, June & July, the refund amount is based upon the date of cancellation, the amount that NSGA has already spent and the cause of the cancellation. 5 GOLF Couer d Alene Resort Course Golf is the real highlight at Coeur d Alene. Two mahogany water taxis transport golfers and a forecaddie greets them at the dock at the end of a short ride. Golf clubs, magically whisked away when golfers check in at the hotel are waiting on their carts. The uniformed forecaddies speed the pace of play and are like personal golf concierges. They do all the usual caddie things plus provide distances and order lunch at the turn, delivering it in a picnic basket. The course has no members and no houses, and almost every hole has a wonderful lake view. Tall Douglas firs line the fairways. The varied design goes from flat long holes to short, steep holes that are more wooded. Holes 5 and 6 are beautiful back-to-back parthrees with steep elevated tees facing the lake, affording the best views on the course. Several holes run along the lake, the highlight of which is hole 14, the floating green. The famous green measures 15,000 square feet, twice the size of a normal green, but it still looks awfully small out there. It s anchored to the lake bottom by a series of cables that allow daily movement, varying the length from 100 to 175 yards. Golfers should use one club more than they would usually hit for the distance to compensate for winds off the lake (and a slight intimidation factor). After successfully driving the green, a foursome will board the Putter for a short ride out to the green. Playing hole 14 is the highlight of the round, although the entire golf experience is superb. 6 Circling Raven Golf Club The crown jewel of Gene Bates designs, Circling Raven features solid holes, a stout challenge, and no gimmicks. Often compared to the Coeur d'alene Resort due to the close proximity, the courses couldn't be more different. Without elaborating too much, I think CDA Resort is a "feel good" resort course and Circling Raven is a "players" course. You'd love to play the CDA Resort every couple of years just to have the experience, but you'd like to have Circling Raven as your home course to play as much as possible. Spread out over 600 acres, you feel like you have the entire golf course to yourself - in fact on the back nine each hole is completely secluded from each other and you don't see anyone that isn't already in your foursome. With a drivable par 4, GPS carts, massive clubhouse, split fairway par 4, and one of the toughest par 3s you'll ever meet - Circling Raven offers something for everyone. Signature Hole: 8th Yard Par 4 - If you've ever seen any advertisements or pictures for Circling Raven then chances are this is the hole you've seen. Framed by pine trees, the relatively short hole requires a forced carry over the native grass to find the fairway that slopes left to right. Three bunkers protect the right side of the hole and the natural wetlands lie in wait to consume any ball that goes long past the green. Not an overly stunning signature hole like CDA Resort's floating green, this hole epitomizes Circling Raven; secluded, solid golf holes that beg you to play again.
