2 Gresford Vacy Football Club Inc Postal Address: PO Box 2 East Gresford 2311 ABN Welcome to Gresford Vacy Football Club. Home of the Scorpions. Thank-you for wanting to play for this great club. I am Damien Crouch and I m proud to be the current President. I started playing for Gresford Vacy as a junior in the 1980 s and returned in 2011, with my whole family, to play for a club that I still regard as the best club in Dungog Shire. Since then I have been a Coach, Manager, Coaching Co-ordinator and Club Secretary as well as playing in the All-Age Men s team. I love it! This club s vision is to provide fun, safe, enjoyable and affordable football to the local community regardless of ability, age and gender. The most important feature of our club is our wish that everyone enjoys their game and feels part of their team and the club. Winning is a great bonus but enjoying a game of football with your team mates gives greater satisfaction regardless of the result. We have a very enthusiastic team in our Club Committee and I m very pleased to be part of it. The Committee oversees and organises the operation of the club, the teams, the finances, the fundraising, the sponsorships, the canteen, the grounds maintenance and the future planning and direction of our Club. It s a huge job and everybody takes pride in giving it their best. The local community, sponsors and supporters, past and present, can be justifiably proud of the standards set and maintained by Gresford Vacy Football Club. I know I am! Cheers Damien Crouch President Gresford Vacy FC

7 How Can You Help? Our Club Needs You!! Our Club is run on a voluntary basis and we call on the parents (or any other enthusiastic person who puts their hand up) to manage and coach the teams, act as ground officials at games, ground set-up, working bees and help with various Club duties. Coaches and Managers It s not as hard as it sounds. We have free coaching courses at the beginning of the season, detailed Manager s Packs are given to each team, and the Committee members are here to support and assist. Coaches and Managers are determined prior to the Meet and Greet so express your interest before-hand. Children love to have their Dad s and Mum s involved. So if you are a parent that can spare some time to get involved with your child s team and support our local Football Club please contact our President Damien Crouch on To carry out any of these official jobs, you need to register with Northern NSW Football. This is for the protection of all, ensuring you agree to abide by the appropriate Code of Conduct, are not a Prohibited person under the Child Protection Act, and most importantly, are covered by the relevant insurances provided by Football NSW. The Canteen The Canteen is our major source of fund raising. The funds raised have and will continue to contribute towards the equipment used by the players and, very importantly, the trophies at the end of the season. Each junior team will be assigned Canteen Duty for home games, only about twice a year. Your Manager will create a Canteen Roster for the team. It s a great way to get to know the committee, other parents and can be the warmest place in the Winter! Most importantly, support the canteen and the club. So grab a Cuppa and a bite to eat before the game. We have the best Bacon and Egg Rolls in town! Orange Roster Each game a parent will be asked to bring oranges for the team. The kids love their oranges at half time. Your manager will provide a roster for these.

11 They will also be posted (when known) on the Gresford Vacy website. 6. COACHES AND MANAGERS These positions are filled from the local community. Consideration will be given to anyone with the necessary enthusiasm. Training and development courses are available to prospective coaches. The positions are not known until after Registration is completed and the appointments are made at the Meet & Greet session and published in the April Newsletter. Coaches and Team Managers are a club s most valuable asset and respect should be given to their decisions. 7. PLAYERS MUST have approved BOOTS and SHIN PADS and these MUST be worn at BOTH training and games. Players must purchase their own shorts and socks in our club colours (available from the Secretary at the Canteen). NO jewellery may be worn on the Soccer field. The Referee will check your boots, and check for jewellery. The Referee has the right to ask you to remove jewellery or don t play. Covering jewellery with tape is no longer allowed. 8. TRAINING BALLS Given to the players by the Club. Correct size & type. Players should bring their ball (clearly named) to each training session. 9. TEAM SHIRTS The shirts are the property of the Club and will be issued for the season by the Team Manager. They should only be used for games and team functions. Care and laundering are the responsibility of the Player. The shirt MUST be returned to the Team Manager when requested, normally at the end of the season. Team shirts are sponsored by advertisers and normally have a life of 2 to 3 seasons. Re-using the shirts gives sponsors better value for their advertising dollars. 10.WATER BOTTLES These are donated to the Club by a sponsor, given to the Player and should last several seasons. They should be clearly named and brought, filled with water, to training and games. At games they are put in the water bottle caddy which is generally with the Team Manager (and retrieved after the gamee). 11. MEDICATION e.g. asthma If required, please discuss your child s needs with the Team Manager. Medication left with the Manager during the game should be clearly labeled with the child s name and collected after the game. 12. REGISTRATION COSTS The costs are determined by the Hunter Valley Football Association, to which our Club belongs. The fee is mostly to cover the costs of insurance(s) and association fees. Our Club derives very little income from Registration fees (typically<15%). Registration fees must be paid in full before a player can commence playing competition.

12 13. GAME FEES Each player must pay a game fee, which is collected by the Team Manager prior to each game. Please try to have the correct amount as Managers do not have a change float. Game fees help to cover the cost of professional referees and Council ground hire fees/lighting. Saturday/Sunday Game fees: Ages 6 11s $5 per game Ages 12 18s $8 per game Seniors, All Age $10 per game Friday Night Game fees: Ages 12 18s Seniors, All Age $10 per game $13 per game 14. REFEREE(S) The decision and directives of the Referee and Assistant Referee(s) MUST be respected. Players and Supporters are encouraged to display good sportsmanship. Communication with the Referee must be conducted through the Team Manager. Referees now have the power to not only issue cautions and send-off s. They can now also have clubs fined for non-compliance by players and officials. Fines are quite substantial ($1000 s). 15. TEAM PHOTO These are arranged during the season at the Home Ground, with the photos distributed at Presentation Day. Notification of dates will be in the newsletter. Extra copies can be ordered. 16. PRESENTATION FUN DAY & BBQ LUNCH Normally held in late September at the Home Ground, where all players receive a trophy for participation. A BBQ lunch follows the presentation of awards. Jumping castles, tug-o-war, clowns, face painting and a feature attraction (bucking bull/gladiator joust/huge slide) are provided after lunch. These are supplied by the Club from income generated by the Canteen. 17. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The election of office bearers immediately precedes the Presentation Day activities. If you have expertise that may be of use to your Club then why not volunteer for a position? Job descriptions are available from the Secretary. 18. GENERAL MEETINGS Held monthly, during the Season, with the dates and venues notified in the Newsletter. The meeting is usually held on the second Tuesday of the month from 7p.m. and alternates between venues at Gresford, Vacy and Paterson. All club members are welcome!
