1 2015 AFLQ Masters Season The 2015 season draw is as follows. All of our home games are set for dates; times may change depending on NEAFL, ALFQ Colts and weather/ground conditions. Remember to arrange with your fellow pink singlet team mates your task for the day. The BBQ will be run this week by our major sponsor Rathbone Engineering. Brian & Lance will need assistance to serve and clean up. All proceeds from the BBQ this week will go to Legacy.

2 Round 1 game report Bayside Bombers AFL Masters The Active Care Bayside Bombers are 1 win from 1 after round one of the AFLQ Masters played last weekend. Bayside travelled to Springwood to take on the Pumas and after new skipper Boots Taylor lost the toss, the Bombers kicked the first 4 goals of the game to take a commanding 21 point lead into quarter time. With evergreen ruckman Russ Bagnall and new onballers Paul Harvey and Simon Jennings getting first use of the ball the Bombers dominated the first half but for inaccurate kicking should have been further in front at the long break. Scott Opitz in his first game for the club struggled to keep his guns in his jumper which could have caused him to only snare 3 goals, Mick Kath playing at the wrong end of the ground couldn't remember where the goals where as he was spraying them from one side to the other. Bombers up by 55 points. The second half looked remarkably different side as the coach turned the board upside down to see if the backs could kick straighter than the first half forwards. Jason March went forward and had a lot of presence without result, while Luke Crowe playing at the other end of the field slotted home 2 majors which could see him have to change his ways in the future if he wants to stay forward. The last quarter saw most of both sides tire and cramp as the toll of a heavy pre season and the heat of playing in early April started to weary all, the Bombers slotted another 4 goals home in the last to make the margin a even 100 points as the siren sounded. Its good to get a win so early in the year, coach Gavin Torso said after the game. we had a few injuries and covered those blokes without issue (Zutt calf, Pony Hamstring). The Bayside Bombers will play their first home game on Anzac Day vs Morninside 5.00pm start. NUFFY AWARDS; KIMBO, ALF & CROWIE Anzac Day Saturday 25 th April As you are aware this Saturdays game is being played on Anzac Day. There is a big day of footy on at Tidbold Park (Victoria Point) starting with TAC Cup Queensland Under 18 v Dandenong Stingrays at 11.00am, followed by Redland v NT Thunder NEAFL at 2.00pm and then the big one, Bayside vs Morningside at 5.00pm. This will be the first of hopefully many Anzac Day games between the two sides, There will be medal presented to a player after the game that has shown spirit and desire to beat all before them, as a Anzac would have.

3 We will be having a Anzac ceremony which will include the Last post, a minutes silence and the National Anthem prior to our game starting. We will also have Legacy donation tins around the venue and all proceeds from our BBQ will also go to Legacy. If anyone is going to the Dawn Service at Cleveland, please put your hand up tonight as we can meet together wearing our club shirts. 4 2015 Membership Thanks to all who have paid up their memberships. We still have a few outstanding so if you can either pay direct as below or see Bags after training, remember the discount expires after Saturdays game. Mondays 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start at Ern Dowling Oval (bottom oval) NOTE NO training on Mondays after game weekend. Wednesdays 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start at Tidlbold Park (top oval). Bring your towel and a change of clothes and join us in the Sharks Kitchen for a meal after training National Carnival The 2015 National Masters Carnival will this year be held in Tasmania. Anybody can play for Queensland in the yearly carnival. A nomination form will be sent out in the coming months for you to register. Cost to attend the carnival is approx. $ plus your own travel and accommodation expenses. There are also some mandatory clothing requirements as well as playing gear that you will need to purchase. These carnivals are a great experience and also great as representing you re adopted or birth state. The Queensland spirit lives alive and well

5 on these carnivals and friendships are formed. Bring the family or travel alone, there is always someone to share a room with or a drink. We have received carnival coach nominations for the 50s, 55s and 60s but none for the 35s, 40s and 45s. If you know of anyone in your club who may be interested, please have them Sully (david.sullivan@gogeclo.com.au) with their details.
