1 THE GEO OPTIPINION Volume 38 Issue 9 June 2002 A MONTHLY BULLETIN OF THE GARDENA EVENING OPTIMIST CLUB ZONE 3 - PACIFIC SOUTHWEST DISTRICT OF OPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL On Sunday, June 9, 2002 all GEO members and families are invited to the GEO (Sansei Baseball) Pool Party. The potluck is a super feast! Call Baseball Chair DARYL MASUYAYAMA or DARRELL IKI, Asst. Chair for details. And, don't forget to honor, respect and to buy LARGE gifts for your favorite person on FATHER'S DAY, on Sunday, June 16, The 2nd June GEO Dinner meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 7:00 PM at El Pollo Inka Restaurant at 1425 W. Artesia Blvd, Gardena. Great Japanese Peruvian food! This is "Club In Action" night, where we invite prospective new members to attend the program, to enjoy the free dinner and to join the Club. Sure would be a great time to install DAVE TERAGAWA and SID KATO into GEO. Call ARMANDO PADILLA, membership Chair or Asst. ED CABABA for details. Looking ahead into July, the 4th of July Picnic at Nader's Barn is fast approaching. Better start practicing throwing those horseshoes, swinging the Pinata stick, guzzling cold beverages and eating. Call Chair ROBIN ARAKAKI or Asst. ZEE ZIMMER for details. As your children get out of school and begin their summer vacations, just remember that the next few months and years will NEVER REPEAT and that QUALITY time with family and close friends is "as good as it gets." Have a safe, restful and wonderful summer. President s Message: If you could only look out at the Optimist world, THROUGH MY EYES for the past two years! First, as President-elect in Bill Coonce's presidency, and now as GEO President. I have gained a new perspective on what it means to be a member of the Gardena Evening Optimists; to be a member club in the Pacific Southwest District; and to be a member of the Optimist International worldwide organization. My eyes and mind have been forced WIDE open. Your own WIDE-Angled view can be taken this Monday, June 3, 2002 at 6:00 P.M. The Optimist Youth Home Tour is eye-opening and NECESSARY for every club member to take. If you ever wondered what your dues and Clipper Nite proceeds go toward, then come out and see. The Bulletin contains facts, directions and information on the Youth Home and the Corporation Meeting that our club will be attending. Call PEARL IIZUKA, Youth Home Chair, or RON MARK, Asst. Chair for details. Sincerely, Norm
