2 Libraries Events Guide March, April and May 2014 Welcome to our Libraries activities guide for March, April and May We have a wide range of activities on offer to suit all tastes and interests for adults, families and young people. Bank Holidays All our libraries will be closed on Good Friday April 18, Easter Sunday April 20, Easter Monday April 21, May Day Monday May 5 and Monday May 26. Events for Adults Historical writers Essie Fox, Jane Thynne and Vanora Bennett will be visiting Wokingham library for a panel event to discuss Power, Peril and Politics: women s role in times of revolution and war. Don t miss this exciting event on Thursday March 13 at 7pm. Author and Broadcaster William Sieghart will be reading poetry and giving out prescriptions at Wokingham Library as part of his Poetry on Prescription Tour on Monday March 31 between 5pm and 7pm. The History Wardrobe will be presenting Women and the Great War, showcasing the lives of women and their clothes during the Great War at Woodley Library on Monday May 12 at 7.30pm. Historians Roy and Lesley Adkins will visit Wokingham Library on Wednesday May 14 at 2pm with their presentation: Eavesdropping on Jane Austen s England-How our ancestors lived two centuries ago. Don t forget to check out the regular Charity coffee mornings held at Woodley Library on the last Thursday of each month between 9am and 11.30am and their monthly Table Top sales on the first Sunday of the month between 11am and 3pm. Wokingham in Bloom The town of Wokingham was delighted to receive a prestigious silver gilt award as recognition for its first entry in Thames and Chilterns in Bloom 2013, the regional arm of Britain in Bloom. Residents, local groups, businesses and the Town Council want to build on this success in the theme is wildlife and conservation. Wokingham library is pleased to support the town's entry by hosting a series of events and workshops promoting wildlife and conservation in gardens and around the town, suitable for all ages, in May. Look out for details over the coming weeks. Little Explorers Book Club Little Explorers Library Challenge has been running for 2 years, to celebrate we will be having a Little Explorers Jungle Adventures throughout March and Monkey Story Sessions throughout April at all libraries. Check the listings for dates and times. Pant-tastic Easter activities This Easter we will be all about Pants! Author Nicholas Allan will be doing workshops about his book The Queen s Knickers. There will be Pant-tastic Antics story and craft session for children aged 5 to 7 years old. For children aged 7 to 9 year olds there will be a Captain Underpants Activity session. Please check the relevant library for cost, dates and times. Lunar Adventures this May half-term Come along to your library this May half-term and take part in our lunar themed activities. Every Library will have a rocket trail for you to complete and some space activity sheets. There will be a Bob the Man on the Moon session at selected branches, see our listings for more details. Wish You Were Here-Woodley Library Arts Fest Look out for events during March and April when Woodley Library will be hosting series of arts based events with a local theme.
