Thanks to Chuck and Sandy Durkee, John and Markay Raybon, Chuck and Pat Gleichmann, Bob Cyr and Marianne Lessard, Richard and Carol McCleery, Andy Petersen, Murial Fallon, Shelia Foti, Linda Kuntz, Mike McCray, Bill Sombathy, Cathy Ingham and all of the Hospice Ladies, headed by Johnnie Carrow-Nelson and Alby Corcoran, at the Captains meeting and weighin/cookout. Special thanks to Dean Roberts and Vinnie Alongi for hitting the pavement and getting most of the gift certificates and shop debit cards for the raffle. BOF for 2010 produced 37 boats and 79 anglers for the tournament. FCSFC was able to raise $ for The Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. The club made $ As can be seen by the above by Capt. Mike Vickers On Saturday, May 15, 2010, 58 club members and their guest boarded a luxury bus at 5:30am in Palm Coast. They travel south on I-95 to Port Canaveral for a full day of fishing aboard the Canaveral Star II an 85 foot bottom fishing boat. On the ride out to the fishing grounds we were treated to a cooked breakfast consisting of an egg, bacon or sausage sandwich with cheese, donuts, cookies and drink. Around noon the galley once again came to life with cheeseburger with chips, hot dogs, water, soda or beer. by President, Jim Ingham As we moved from fishing hole to the next hot fishing spot fish were being caught with a number of brake offs of some of the larger fish. John Willis caught a 5 pound flounder which was second place in the fishing pool. Mike Vickers had a Kingfish that weighted 5lb 1oz to take first place. Paul Bergeron won the bottom Rod and Reel. We were back at the dock at 5:00pm, everyone boarded the bus for the ride back home and I m sure a much needed nap on the way home. list of club members and volunteers it takes a lot to provide a successful event. Thanks again to everyone. Also thank you to all of our sponsors especially Boston Whaler, Bright House Networks, S & A Leisure, Tropical Designs and Ace Bails Bond. Bob Greenhalgh and I have agreed to chair the 15 th Annual Bucket Full O Fun in The month long King Fish Tournament starts, May 22, 2010 and runs through the month of June. Election of Officers was held the May general meeting. Chuck Gleichmann was elected Vice-President, Scott Fehrankamp elected Secretary and Richard McCleery elected Corresponding Secretary. All other officers remain in office for one more year. Thanks for stepping up and welcome to the new officers. See you at the June meeting and remember keep TIGHT LINES. If targeting redfish is your thing first light on the flats has yielded some nice slot fish using live bait (mud minnows) or artificial lures like Sebile Bonga Minnow or Exude Darts. Maybe Tarpon is more your thing and they too can be found on the flats, rolling during first light when winds are calmest. A live select shrimp is a prime choice for juvenile Tarpon or whip out the long rod and place a black and purple toad fly in their path. When the sun is up and things start to slow down in the skinny head for the inlets where Bull Redish will be roaming the rocks sniffing out a piece of cut something (crabs, mullet or pogies). Don t feel like battling jetty groupers, continue past the rocks and head for open water where big silver kings (Tarpon) can be seen crushing pogie pods. A live pogie tossed around the schools should entice ole bucket mouth into feeding. Can t find any Tarpon? No problem start slow trolling the pogies or mullet and see if you can t find the other King, King Mackerel! Don t forget to wire up for these toothy critters. Hey look at that shark, wait it s a Cobia! That s right, look for Cobia as they tend to be a bit curious and will show up when not expected so have a rod ready with a large artificial paddle tail. Look for Cobia piggy backing on Manta Rays heading back south as long as the water temps allow (71.5 is the magic number). If all fails you can still find huge schools of bruiser Jacks that will test your strength and tackle! Almost forgot, plenty of Spanish Mackerel around as well, trolling spoons or casting plugs will get your live well filled in no time. Guest speaker: Capt. Brian Walker, he will speak about kingfish tactics. All articles and information required by the 20th of the month to allow time for editing, printing and mailing...
