2 GOLF 2018 TABLE OF CONTENTS 3 Rockford Park District/ Area Golf Course Listing 4-9 Junior Lesson Offerings Adult Lesson Offerings Junior Tournaments Adult Tournaments Tournament Calendar Registration Information 23 Golf Program Registration Form 25 Mixed Doubles Tournament Registration Form Memberships Come and Golf Rockford! The 2018 golf season is here! Record cold temperatures during the short days and long nights of December certainly made it seem like golf was a long way off this winter! A January thaw however, gave us all hope! As the winter winds down and the sound of cardinals fills the air, the 2018 golf season has arrived. If you got away for a golf trip over the winter or maybe enjoyed the new indoor range at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two, your clubs may already be cleaned up and ready. If not, it s time to dust them off, maybe get some new grips put on, and get ready to tee it up! The 2018 season will be busy and exciting. One of the biggest changes people will notice is the new Rockford Bank & Trust Pavilion at Aldeen Golf Club. This 9,000-square-foot banquet facility is located at the south end of the clubhouse parking lot at Aldeen, and will overlook the 11th green and most of the back nine. We are very excited to work with our new partners at Rockford Bank & Trust on this project! This partnership, along with a $1,000,000 donation from Rick and Lana Engen and a $250,000 contribution from the Norris and Margaret Aldeen Charitable Foundation, have made possible the construction of a wonderful 200+ person seating capacity banquet facility. This building, along with our partnership with Al Castrogiovanni and the staff of Graystone Grill and Giovanni s, will allow Aldeen Golf Club to attract and retain golf outings, host wedding receptions and golf banquets, hold corporate events, and allow many new customers to enjoy a beautiful view of the golf course! This facility will also provide much needed revenue that will be used to help keep Aldeen at the forefront of the golf market in the Midwest. Over the winter, we were very pleased to be able to offer expanded hours for indoor golf at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two. The addition of the new mega building provided more availability for winter golf as well as the use of real golf balls instead of Cayman short flight balls. The addition of the Winter Golf Academy started several years ago by the Rockford Park District s instructor and PGA Professional Lloyd McWilliams was very well received. A winter LPGA program led by our LPGA Professional Jordan Zellman and adult and junior classes taught by our Director of Instruction, PGA Professional Steve Moore, rounded out an active winter season. Mercyhealth Sportscore Two also hosted a seminar for junior golfers and their parents that are looking at college golf scholarships as well as a job fair for our golf department. If you haven t visited that facility, make plans to stop in for a look. It s awesome! 2 CUSTOMER SERVICE Se Habla Español PHONE ONLINE rockfordparkdistrict.org

With the mission of making sure that any child in Rockford can have the opportunity to learn the values that the great game of golf teaches, we will be expanding programming in all areas of our community. The Rockford Area Middle School Golf program that was started seven years ago has seen tremendous growth, from six schools to almost 20. Our instructors and volunteers, along with the coaches from these various schools, work with junior players both on the course and on the practice range, and the season culminates with the All City Middle School Tournament in May. Aldeen Golf Club will host its fifth state championship this summer when the Illinois Women s Golf Association returns June The first Illinois Women s Golf Association State Championship that Aldeen hosted was in 2004, and joined two Illinois State Men s Championships and one Illinois State Senior Men s Championship being contested at Aldeen Golf Club. An expanded PGA Junior Golf League and LPGA program along with several new fun social golf events at Sinnissippi and Sandy Hollow will round out a busy calendar of tournaments, outings, golf lessons, clinics, and special events. 21 REGISTRATION FAQS When can I register? To help ensure a spot, register for your programs early. Registration is accepted one week prior to the start date, unless otherwise noted. Late registrations are accepted on a case-by-case basis by the program s manager. For more info, contact Customer Service at or visit one of our customer service locations. Payment must be recieved at time of registration. What is a wait list? Some programs are very popular, and fill quickly. You may opt to register for a filled program and be placed on the waiting list. This means that in the event that a spot becomes available, you may be enrolled in the program. To be placed on a waiting list, the program registration process must be fully completed, including payment. Your position on the waiting list is based upon when the registration is processed by RPD. If RPD cannot accommodate your enrollment by the second meeting of the class, your registration fee will be refunded in full. All waiting lists have a limited number of spots, so it is possible that the waiting list may already be filled at the time you attempt to register. Can I register a person outside of my immediate family? In order to register someone outside of your immediate family, you must bring a completed registration form in which the Waiver and Release of All Claims and Assumption of Risk has been signed by an adult who is legally responsible for the participant. What is your age policy for programs? Unless otherwise noted, lessons and programs require that participants be within the age limits of the class by the first day of the program. Any accommodations made outside of these requirements must be approved by the program s manager. Can I transfer from one program to another? Transfers are allowed up until the beginning of the first class. Transfers after a program has started must be requested through the manager of the specific program. If the transfer is to a higher priced program, the additional fee must be paid prior to the transfer. If the transfer is to a lower priced program, a credit will be issued to the household. What is the cancellation and refund policy? Full refunds will be granted for any registrations cancelled by the participant two weeks prior to the first day of the program. If the program you have registered for is cancelled, a full refund will be issued. Partial refunds may be issued for programs cancelled due to weather. Please note: Any refunds can be applied to your account for future use, or they must be provided in the form of payment in which they were received. Any refunds in cash over $25.00 originally paid in cash will receive a check mailed within 2 weeks of the request to the home address on file. 24 WAIVER & RELEASE Please read carefully Don t forget to sign the front side of the form IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Rockford Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Rockford Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants safety. However, participants and parents/guardians of minors registering for this program must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational programs/activities. You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and/or adequately skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity. WARNING OF RISK Golfing is an activity intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. However, despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Risks attendant to golfing include poor conditioning or technique, being struck by a golf ball or club, being struck by lightning, slipping on wet surfaces, slips and falls associated with the choice of spikes, accidents with golf carts, inconsiderate play, horseplay, defects in course design, tripping over sprinkler heads, and ruts/holes/depressions in the grass. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Rockford Park District to guarantee absolute safety. You should always stand away from and behind a player making a shot and be aware of the flight patterns of balls being hit by other players when you are around the greens and alongside the fairways. You should watch where you are walking (i.e., uneven terrain, sprinkler heads, surface imperfections, etc.). When playing a shot from a wrong fairway, ensure that the players playing that fairway are aware of your presence. During a thunderstorm, do not ride in golf carts or stay outdoors; seek shelter in buildings, vehicles, or other locations that offer protection (avoid open fields, water areas, wire fences, overhead wires, isolated trees, and hilltops). Drive carefully and slowly in golf carts, they are not toys. I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in this program/activity, and I voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I may sustain as a result of said participation. I further agree to waive and relinquish all claims I or my minor child/ward may have (or accrue to me or my child/ward) as a result of participating in this program/activity against the Rockford Park District, including its officials, agents, volunteers and employees. 26 WAIVER & RELEASE Please read carefully Don t forget to sign the front side of the form IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Rockford Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating in this program/ activity, you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor child/ward might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with this program/activity (including transportation services and vehicle operations, when provided). PHOTO/VIDEO AUTHORIZATION, CONSENT AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS I hereby authorize and give my consent to the Rockford Park District to photograph/video me and my minor child/ward, and without limitation, to use such photographs/video in connection with promoting/advertising the services, programs, and facilities of Rockford Park District without consideration of any kind. Such productions may be copied, copyrighted, edited, and distributed by the District in the manner described above. I understand that my and my minor child s/ward s name, likeness, or voice may be used in the manner described above, and grant the Rockford Park District the right to use and reuse, in any manner at all, the video, motion picture, audio recording, web page, social media pages, or still photograph productions, and broadcasts as described above.
