5 Improving navigability on the Hungarian section of the Danube in the Rhine-Danube corridor: Extended study to prepare implementation General objectives: The main goal is to develop the shipping conditions of the Danube in Hungary in a way that the parameters of the route would meet the international requirements for the complete section included in the AGN Agreement and the recommendations of the Danube Committee. In case of realization, it is in harmony with the demand for ensuring the Hungarian and transit transports. The development of all the necessary inland waterway on the Danube in Hungary, effective preparations considering the water-sector, flood protection, environment and nature protection aspects, the removal of bottlenecks in order to achieve the parameters of the TEN-T core network as soon as possible. Specific objectives: Utilizing the results of the survey on riverbed status for the complete Hungarian section of the Danube in order to explore the sections with draught restrictions and sections that need interventions Possessing designs and obtaining permits for riverbed interventions improving navigability for the complete Hungarian section of the Danube that fit in the demand for navigability for the Rhine-Danube core network corridor Environmental impact assessment of the interventions as per relevant legislation Preparing tender designs needed for the public procurement for the intervention tasks

13 Enhance the efficiency of Hungarian RIS Operation Aim of the project: Reliable River Information Services (RIS) are needed for the navigation on the Danube. The objective of the proposed Action is to update the Hungarian RIS system in order to achieve a modern, optimized and homogenous monitoring network with higher capacity and reliability. The proposed Action is in line with the European RIS implementation based on the RIS Directive (2005/44/EC) and the Technical Regulation on RIS (414/2007/EC). It consists of works to enhance traffic management services, modernize on-shore RIS services and improve the quality of fairway information services data. The overall benefit of the Action will be to deliver an enhanced RIS system to support efficient and safe inland navigation. Specific aims of the project Improvement of the RIS traffic management Enhance and provide on-shore RIS services Renovate and modernise infrastructure Implementing body: RSOE Hungary
14 Interrelations between the projects (1) There are 3 Hungarian CEF supported actions which contribute to the successful completion of the FAIRway aims. Their progress has to be considered when reporting the national roadmaps updates. As the FAIRway action lasts longer than the other Hungarian CEF projects, only the finalized outputs can be exchanged with them. The scope of the FAIRway twinned actions is to accelerate the removal of bottlenecks of sections of the Rhine-Danube core network corridor and procure the necessary equipment to carry out pilot activities for hydrological services in the 6 concerned countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia). It will conduct regular pilot surveys of the critical sections and the detailed planning of the Hungarian section will be able to use the accurate data. The preparation for the implementation will follow the FAIRway's waterway asset management system (WAMS) development and adjust the aimed future activities accordingly. The sediment sampling contribute to understand transport processes. Hungary will purchase in FAIRway AToN buoys with different shapes and setups to investigate which structure provides the best performance to be chosen for the Hungarian floating marks to be procured in HUMARK action. The trial within the FAIRway will serve as technical basis for the tendering. In the FAIRway project the countries will purchase marking vessels. The joint composing of the technical documents will help to exchange knowledge and share experiences
15 Interrelations between the projects (2) HUMARK has strong common issues and mutual benefits can boost the results. In the FAIRway 5.5. activity the Hungarian experiences in the cost and time of manufacturing, assembly, placement and testing of new floating signs. Furthermore the Hungarian deployment of a transmission system for receiving, processing and transferring data from the intelligent buoys to ships and/or the fairway water management body will provide as valuable inputs for FAIRway activities , since the task includes the preparation of the system specification for the deployment of the data transmission system and test runs "Extended study to prepare implementation" project will be elaborated parallel with the FAIRway project. The Hungarian planning results can be implemented to upgrade measurement methodology if needed. The study will reveal legal consequences and environmental synergies of the fairway maintenance in Hungary, diverting the improvement towards the most comprehensive way. "Enhance the Efficiency of Hungarian RIS Operation" project is a comprehensive development of the Hungarian control of the fairway. The results and experiences of the AIS system upgrade can be used in FAIRway acticity 5.4. In the RIS project enhanced meteo services (WERM messages) and water level data collection improvement will be accomplished, which contributes to the FAIRway WAMS service and the forecasting development.
