Weymouth Country Club 12 Weeks only 12 weeks until May 1 st. It is certainly hard to believe that we are gearing up for the upcoming season at Weymouth Country Club.

3 Weymouth Country Club 12 Weeks only 12 weeks until May 1 st. It is certainly hard to believe that we are gearing up for the upcoming season at Weymouth Country Club. Winter has been kind to us, but a closed Golf Course is the coldest looking piece of land anywhere. We look forward to opening the course to our Members, and one thing you will notice is that Kenny and his crew have been working diligently to remove all of the dead Ash Trees from our property. In addition to removing trees from the course, the entranceway was affected, as well as areas around the Clubhouse and Pool. Some trees will be replaced that effect play, others in neutral areas we may leave alone. One of our highlights in February will be our Valentine s Eve Candlelight Dinner on Saturday, February 13 th. This elegant evening will include a spectacular meal from Chef Chris Taylor, background music by Bobby Neal, and hosted by your Clubhouse Manger, Kevin Karasevic. George Soos, Chef Chris Taylor from Weymouth, Chef JR Hobbs from Fox, and I will be holding a Chili Throw-down on February 17 th. All of us will compete for your vote for the best Chili between these four experts. All proceeds for the evening will go towards Feeding Medina County! Also, look for details on our Putt-Putt tournament on February 27 th, as well as our Pretty in Pink Bridal Expo on the 28 th. Weymouth will showcase its Ballroom along with other vendors from the Medina area to perspective Brides. If you or anyone of your friends has a Wedding to plan, here is your opportunity to talk to those that make your event happen at Weymouth CC. Lastly, I would like to introduce Jennifer Dolph as the new GM at Fox Meadow. Jennifer comes to us from Riverside, California, and is welcome addition to the Arcis team. In addition, I would like to thank both Fox and Weymouth Members alike in their support over the last 5 months as I have pulled double duty. Both teams of department heads went above and beyond to support me as we searched for the new GM at Fox Meadow. News from your General Manager, Brian Wolbers The countdown to Spring has started in earnest as I return to full time at Weymouth Country Club. We look forward to a fantastic 2016!

5 Weymouth Country Club Membership Newsletter February 2016 Turf Talk with REGIONAL AGRONOMIST Kenny Aukerman FROM THE GREEN removed. What happened to our normal snowy and cold winter we are all accustomed to? The maintenance crew is not complaining. We are able to work outside on the course, not plowing and shoveling snow every day like last year. Over half of the dead Ash Trees have been We hope to get all the Ash Trees down before golfing season. That way we can have the stumps ground all at once. You will notice that we have planted 25 new trees to replace dead trees in areas that affect the original design of the hole. These new trees are not as large as the others, but should fill in quickly. The rest of the dead trees will not change the playability and should allow the existing trees in those areas to fill in better. These areas were over-crowded and did not allow the trees to mature properly. Once the stumps are removed, cleaned up and seeded, you will hardly know that over 200 trees were removed. The mild winter has helped reduce disease pressure on the turf. No signs of Snow Mold are present yet. Our Turf is little greener than normal for this time of year. The greener tops may mean that we still have some root development going on. That would be good. The turf would then be stronger going into the summer stress periods. Please remember that skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling and other winter sports are not allowed on the course during the winter months. Turf could be damaged and we are not liable for any injures that occur on course property. We are currently planning for the upcoming season. You will be happy to see that the service road is our first priority as far as Capital Expenditures this year. It will be resurfaced as soon as the weather permits. Drainage work on fairways will continue more intensely. Our owner (Arcis) is committed to improving the property over the next few years. Like many Clubs that assess their members for improvements, Arcis is committed to continue to invest in all facilities at Weymouth Country Club. Let s hope for continued mild weather and pray for great golfing season.
