Why is this conference important to you? Following the adoption of the Alberta Land Stewardship Act in 2009, work has been underway to implement the Land-use Framework throughout Alberta. The conference will illustrate efforts put into forest and land management in the past and demonstrate how the learnings from these are being implement for future management of resources and enhancing communities in west and north west Alberta. The conference has been designed to help communities and industry understand and gain information about the challenges related to resource management and the required measures needed to maintain the resources and the communities dependent upon resource use. The community of Grand Prairie is ideally located to demonstrate these challenges and opportunities. The conference program features a strong line-up of local, provincial, national and international speakers, all extremely well-versed in global land use planning and operational issues. Guided field tours of the landscape and resource management in the northwest portion of Alberta and possibly northeast British Columbia are being arranged to complement the theme of the Annual Meeting. The Rocky Mountain Section of the Canadian Institute of Forestry has also have put together an great social and companion program to complement our full agenda that will interest just about anyone. We encourage you to mark September 16 th 19 th, 2018 on your calendar and hope that you will register for the CIF/IFC Annual Meeting to be held in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
