Tunes on the Terrace Thursdays, June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th Join us every Thursday evening for Tunes on the Terrace from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

This is a great way to meet your friends and fellow members and enjoy a fun evening. No reservations are required. Buffet dinner is $10/person.

Each camp session is 3 days of instruction, practice and fun for the kids.

Eligibility: Camps are open to children 8-17 years of age. Members: Children and grandchildren of CVCC members.

Each week we will be featuring a different band and a different buffet menu. This is a great way to meet your friends and fellow members and enjoy a fun evening. No reservations are required. Buffet dinner is $10/person. Junior Golf Summer Camps 4 Sessions ~ June, July and August! Summer Camps are a great way for junior golfers to spend their summer days. Each camp session is 3 days of instruction, practice and fun for the kids. This is a great opportunity for them to gain valuable skills for out on the course. Be sure to sign them up early to reserve their spot. Eligibility: Camps are open to children 8-17 years of age. Members: Children and grandchildren of CVCC members. Member Guests: If a member would like to bring a guest junior player to a camp they may do so. The cost is an additional $25/ camp Price: All Four (4) clinics are $250 per child. If a child would like to attend less than the Four (4) clinics they may do so. Children may sign up for only one, two, three or all four sessions. The cost for each session is $75.00 which includes three days of instruction, a camp shirt and a summer BBQ. If you keep this in mind while on the course, If you wait until you are thirsty it is too late. Drinking a little water all the time will keep you hydrated throughout your round. Also, please remember that our sister club Coyote Moon is now open and is in great shape for the summer season. Coyote Moon is located in Truckee, Cal and is available for member play at a special rate of $75/member and if you have a guest there is a special rate as well. We are excited for the opening of the new Quixote s, we anticipate it being open this month. It is going to be a great place to enjoy friendship, great food and to talk about the round that could have been! Evening golf is popular during the summer. I want to personally invite you to take advantage of our August Road Trip, August The road trip includes: One round of golf at ArrowCreek Country Club, lodging and Cocktail reception in Cin-Cin at the Eldorado Casino and One round at Coyote Moon Golf Club. The event is open to singles, couples, groups and guest of members. Let s make this trip a start of an annual summer tradition. Summer is here and the course is in great shape. We have had a great start to the summer with member driven events and a great golf course. We want all of our members to enjoy their club, to that end, please let us know how we can make it better. 5 Catta Verdera Women Golfers June CVWG Update As we hit mid-year, the CVWG has lots and lots of golf planned for our members. Here s your recap of upcoming events. Get out, play golf, and have fun! Welcome New CVWG Members More welcomes are in order for our newest, and returning member: Perlita Beso. Welcome back, Perlita! Lads n Lassies Tournament The field for this year s Lads & Lassies tournament is filling up. With that said, we need more Lassies to join in the fun so if you are interested in playing, please let Stephanie McCarthy know you would like to play. Handicap Corner Did you know that the Golf Shop conducts several random handicap audits of all CV members on a monthly basis? The purpose of these random audits are to ensure that all players are posting their scores on a timely basis to create a fair and equitable playing field for all players. If during an audit, it s determined that a CVWG player has not been posting scores on a regular basis, that person will not be eligible for the Most Improved Player award for any given month. Also, if you signed up to play with the Golf Shop but then opted to not play, please let the Golf Shop know so that you are not on the tee sheet. This will help with the auditing process as well. Questions? Contact Mary Jane Kelly or call at Summer Eclectic Tournament Have you purchased your Summer EC card(s) yet? The individual eclectic tournament is underway. You may play eclectic rounds through the end of October. Remember to declare your round prior to beginning play and have your card attested by a CVWG member. You can still join the fun. Each card is a $10 entry fee. Leave your money in the EC locker and you will receive a card so you can follow your improvements round by round. Be sure to mark the date you played and which tees you played from on your card. We had 15 women (and a few men) attend the May 21st Rules Seminar hosted by Trudy Havis and Pat Zimmerman. It was a terrific session and we all came away with a renewed level of knowledge. Thanks Pat and Trudy...you rock! Catta Verdera hosted a WGANC Open Day on Tuesday, May 31 that welcomed 111 players which was one of their largest Open Days of the year. Many thanks to Diana Nyman and Pat Zimmerman for their coordination efforts and to the following women who served as on-course volunteers: Beth Hobbit, Donna Hodgson, Mary Jane Kelly, Trudy Havis, Barb Serafin, Arleen Wong, Dixie Hueckle, and Linda Bunker. Thanks for representing! Notes from Our Tournament Chair Although we only had two Thursday play days in May, it didn t stop the 32 ladies who came out to play golf! Apparently as the weather turns so do our needs for some girl time! We love to see so many happy faces on Thursdays. 8 Ramiro Sena Course Superintendent Superintendent s Update I would like to start the Turf corner by thanking those brave members who unexpectedly showed up to take a job on their own. Mr. Brenner and Mr. Frederick decided to show up the day before the Cabrillo to clean up on overgrown abandoned path from ten green to eleven old tees. They brought their own hand and power tools to take on the physical job. We were shocked to see them on it, but extremely happy knowing that some members go out of their ways to support their club in ways we don t expect. I want to thank you gentlemen and know that we are fully committed in providing you with the best product we can produce on the golf course. Thank you again The heat is here and we can t do anything to bring the temperatures down on the course. The Cool season Rye grass starts to check out as the temps reach 95 F for a few consecutive days. The warm season Riviera will emerge with the heat pretty aggressively, but will keep the Fairways wet for about two weeks. This is the process for the warm season turf to thrive in the Summer. Although, the turf requires an immense amount of water consistently, we are aware of the still ongoing drought in California. We need to comply with the state regulation of saving 30%. And need to show support to our local water districts. Our goal is to use similar amounts as last year. Also, Summer here means the kids are out of school. They need more things to entertain them. We had some vandalism last week. They took the flag poles from holes 10 and 11 green and broke them. That wasn t enough fun, so they also punctured the surface with the broken ends numerous times on these greens. The staff spent a good amount of time repairing the damage.
