A special thank you to the Catta Verdera staff and to Pat and Norm Zimmerman for all their help. 4th Annual Summer Match Play Yes, we are heading into Summer and that means the 4th Annual Summer Match Play tournament will start on July 1 and end early in September. The tournament is a double elimination which means you are guaranteed 2 matches. What a great way to hone your match play skills and rules at the same time. A major improvement this year is that we will have flights based on handicaps. This allows for matches with a competitor similar in handicap and winners decided in a more timely manner. Non the less, the next three months are significantly more challenging for my staff. This year s challenges won t be any different, however will have a greater obstacle with watering availability.

We are distributing the available water on the main playing surface leaving the Driving Range and Rough areas for last.

10 Ramiro Sena Course Superintendent Superintendent s Update This month s weather has been unbelievably perfect for golf. However, the drastic temperature changes always present us with unpredictable disease outbreak. So far we have prevented their deployment! Non the less, the next three months are significantly more challenging for my staff. This year s challenges won t be any different, however will have a greater obstacle with watering availability. We are demanded to reduce our irrigation practices by 30% and it might not sound that bad, but it can amount to greater challenges overtime. We are distributing the available water on the main playing surface leaving the Driving Range and Rough areas for last. The staff adds additional water throughout the day to irrigate only stressed areas as we do not run the irrigation from the central computers daily. We are asking for your support to get with the drought. Please keep the carts on the path and fairway only, as cart compaction is the main cause of turf decline on these areas. Also, pair up with other player on the their golf cart. We want to provide great playing conditions, but we need your support for the next three critical-hot moths. Special appreciation to Mr. Rob Brenner and Mr. Mark Frederick-the brave who came to help on May 7th for the Spring Clean day. It was raining and these two amazing members showed us their unconditional support.
