1 1) QUERY FROM MR PHILIP OU (O046) Submitted Date: 22 August 2014 I notice that there is no avenue for members to raise matters at the coming AGM on the website. Neither are there forms (apart from nominations forms) available at the Clubhouse. I have two points to raise for discussion: 1. There are a number of mobile apps and GPS devices which offer golf course information and yardages. However even though Sembawang is on the list, the satellite photos are of the old course layout. Would the Club consider mapping the new course layout in pictorial form for the benefit of visitors (and members) before the new satellite photos are available? Alternatively, consider an internal app on the SCC website. 2. Would the Club consider uploading the members Handicap Book onto the website as and when these are updated? Thanks.

2 Answers: AGM QUESTIONS & 1) QUERY FROM MR PHILIP OU (O046) Submitted Date: 22 August 2014 Members are welcome to send their questions for AGM to the Club via the Club s mailing address, fax number, and address that is printed on the Notice Of AGM. We will make this more explicit for next year s AGM. 1. We have contacted SwingxSwing and Golflogix and found that while the satellite images are of our old course, the yardages are mostly correct. We have requested that they correct the yardages and update the satellite images with those of our new course. They have told us that the yardages can be corrected, but they would need Google Maps to upload the latest satellite mages before they can use them in the app.

Additionally, we have worked with companies like Voice Caddy and Garmin, who have already mapped out our new layout. We welcome similar companies to do surveys on our renovated course. 2. We will create a hyperlink from our website to the SGA national handicap book (found on the SGA Website). This will enable members to check their handicaps and the handicaps of their peers online.

4 2) QUERY FROM ANTHONY WOO CHEE KAY (W132) Submitted Date: 28 August 2014 I would like to put a question across to the panel. I am a live member with SCC and I have converted my membership to restricted membership for almost 7 years. This is due to my work schedule and young children and I do not foresee myself playing during weekends during this period. As I see myself starting to play during weekends, I would like to convert back to full membership but was told I have to pay the subscription for the 7 years that I have a restricted membership. I find this very unfair and ridiculous as I did not make use of the facilities during weekends for 7 years but yet you want me to pay for these years that I am absent during weekends.

5 Is this policy similar for absent membership as well, i.e. people stationed overseas for several years and when they come back do they have to pay for the years they are absent if they want to reinstate? If they do not, then why the difference between absent membership and restricted membership? Please address this issue during the AGM. 6 2) QUERY FROM ANTHONY WOO CHEE KAY (W132) Submitted Date: 28 August 2014 Answers: Thank you for raising this concern to us. We fully understand your situation and would very much welcome you to revert to a SAF Continuing Member. Constitutionally, a member who makes the choice to be a Restricted Member has to remain a Restricted Member for the rest of his term. Notwithstanding this, in 2003 when you decided to convert to a Restricted Member, the Club respected your decision and facilitated your decision. The Club advised you that once a conversion to Restricted Member is made, it shall be irrevocable and a Restricted Member shall remain a Restricted Member for the remainder of his term. The Club had also advised that henceforth, should you like to revert to a Continuing Member, you will need to pay the difference in levies and subscriptions backdating from the day you were converted to a Restricted Member.

7 2) QUERY FROM ANTHONY WOO CHEE KAY (W132) Submitted Date: 28 August 2014 Answers: To be eligible for Absent Membership, one needs to be away from Singapore for a continuous period of at least six months. Absent Members do not need to pay the differences in subscription fees during their period of absence once they are back, all membership privileges are suspended. This includes having to pay non-member golfing rates should they return to Singapore and wish to golf in SCC. They also have an option to pay the full subscription rate for that particular month should they wish to golf at members rates. We seek your kind understanding in this matter. AGM QUESTIONS &

8 3) QUERY FROM MR LEE YIAN TONG (L087) Submitted Date: 02 September 2014 Dear Sir, AGM QUESTIONS & POINTS FOR COMING ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING I will like to raise two minor points for the coming AGM. 2. Before I proceed, I would like to congratulate the club, the management, and the EXCO and Committees for running the club so efficiently and praiseworthily. 3. Also, I would like to express my appreciation to the following two officials for their fast and tidy response to my indication of the staff unhappiness due to some overdue pay rise. I was amazed by their spontaneous actions that in 3 months they had got all staff on their feet with $100 raise to their pay.

9 They are now as happy as a swift and their work efficiency cannot be taken for granted, as you all know their work efficiency comes from happiness at work. a. 10 3) QUERY FROM MR LEE YIAN TONG (L087) Submitted Date: 02 September Elaboration on the following two points raised: a. RECESS AREA NEXT TO CHIPPING / PUTTING GREENS This low laying area is soggy and collects water after rain. Bunker users got frustrated when their balls run into the pool of waters at this place or on dry days their balls got plugged in the muddy area and may not be able to retrieve them. So it would be good to turf this place to a higher level or to improve the area with better drainage.

11 3) QUERY FROM MR LEE YIAN TONG (L087) Submitted Date: 02 September 2014 b. SAVING THE TUMBUSU TREES ALONG THE RIGHT FAIRWAY TO HOLE 16. I already raised this problem of these trees dying off at the tops. Can we get the experts either from NEA or Botanical Gardens to help save their life existence. Most hardy trees like the Tembusu, which can grow from trucks, are able to survive by just cutting off the top half of the tree, and with the prevention of drying-out at the cut area, they would be able to survive, like the Angsana trees. Maybe with some top-soil near the base will nurse them back to good health. Hope these two point do help in up keeping the outlook of the club.

12 3) QUERY FROM MR LEE YIAN TONG (L087) Submitted Date: 02 September 2014 Answers: The Club thanks you for your words of encouragement. We would like to clarify that the salary increase for the staff was part of salary reviews that EXCO conducts on a regular basis. 1.Thus far, we have prioritised our capital funding to improving the conditions in the main golf course. The area around the practice greens is our next focus, among other areas of improvement, that we will prioritise in our next round of capital funding. 2.We are equally concerned about the health of trees in our golf course, including those at Hole 16. To this end, we invited arborists from NParks to help us determine the well-being of our trees. The arborists have paid visits to our golf course and have advised us on basic tree care.

13 3) QUERY FROM MR LEE YIAN TONG (L087) Submitted Date: 02 September 2014 Answers: In addition, we are also on a learning journey with Tanah Merah Country Club, who have shared with us their tree care program. We have taken their advice and our golf maintenance contractor is monitoring the trees-at-risk and giving them the appropriate care. The golf course maintenance contractor also engaged arborists to treat certain trees that have not been growing well.
