2 Dear Members, It is Spring in paradise and our Tabebuia trees yellow blooms are brilliant against the blue sky. We know that the summer blooming of our scarlet Royal Poinciana trees is not far behind. This is also the season that signals change in the leadership of your Club. Jim Clayton, Vice President; Pete Kloet, Treasurer; and Judith Mulholland, Secretary, have joined me as your Club Officers for the season. I would be remiss if I didn t say a well-deserved thank you to our outgoing President, Bob Magrann and Treasurer, Stu Hodgson, for their fine service to the Club. Thank you, Bob and Stu! From Your President Bill Senter This year is a leap year. How appropriate it is then that our Club has taken a leap forward. We are enjoying continued growth in membership and positive financials. Your Board is optimistic that even better times lie ahead. Why? Because we have professional managers who take "Pride" in their daily charge to make our experiences at our Club more enjoyable and fun. Of course, there is no crystal ball for the private country club sector and the uncertainties of the market will remain a challenge. I can assure you that your Board and management team will remain vigilant and proactive to preserve the quality of life at our Club. To do this, we need your help and support. Your participation in Club life Board of Directors enhances the value for everyone. Your introduction of friends and family to Club membership adds to our success. A successful future is grounded on a successful foundation. Here at Quail Creek Country Club (QCCC), we have such a foundation. The glue that binds us together is that special relationship that the Members have with each other: the smiles that greet us, the laughter that warms our souls and the memories that sustain us. It s the way we are. Think about the friendships you have made at our Club. It is all special and has made a difference in our lives. This Club is defined by our welcoming nature. Pure and simple, it is who we are. Whether on the course, enjoying good cheer over a drink, participating in a fitness class, or busting a move on the dance floor, we have fun and enjoy each other while doing so. It's the best. We, your Board, and Don Hunter's management team will continue to do our best to make your QCCC experience memorable. Bill Bill Senter President Jim Clayton Vice President Judith Mulholland Secretary Pete Kloet Treasurer Jerry Galeana Dr. Bill Pescod Steve Powell Jerry Westwood Douglas Wicklund 2 We Thank You! The continuing success of our Club is, in large measure, attributable to the fine people who have been willing to serve on the Board. The Directors pictured at right will be leaving the Board. They have given freely and generously of their time and talents. The membership extends a sincere Thank You. Bob Magrann President Stu Hodgson Treasurer

3 From the General Manager/COO Don Hunter COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND BOARD LIAISONS Audit Richard Berge, Chair Peter Kloet, Liaison Finance Peter Kloet, Chair Dear Members, As this very busy season comes to a close, I first want to acknowledge our staff. Every department in the Club has pulled together to create wonderful memories. While we have experienced much success, we know we can be even better and will continue to work toward that goal. As we welcome our new Board and Committee members, we are fortunate to have your answers to the recent survey to guide us. This will also act as a leadership tool for me and my staff. During the summer, I will report on actions taken and planned based on your input. We are still processing the 250 pages of data and over 2,000 comments and suggestions, and we will provide a report to the membership when season begins in the fall. This is also a time to recognize the heavy lifting that has been accomplished by those who are stepping down. Members, like Bob Ricketts, Chair of the Green Committee, who have spent years, working with Kevin Leo, driving golf course improvements. And, Frank Besson, Chair of the Golf Committee, who, working with Mike Dero, made the game of golf fun for all. And, what can I say, except thank you to Bob Magrann, President, and Stu Hodgson, Treasurer, for their determination to improve financial performance while overseeing countless operational improvements. We are all in their debt. Our Preview membership program resulted in an 80 percent conversion rate to Class A Golf memberships. And Class A Members, you are! Thank you for your confidence in your Club. Our Membership Committee is filled with new ideas to exceed our goals for this year. Meanwhile, we have successfully increased our Initiation Fee to $45,000 and have seen continued interest. Why, you may ask. Because we are worth it! Finally, after more than three years of hard work, the revised Bylaws have been approved by the Board and will be presented to you, our Members, for approval over the next few weeks. A timeline for the approval process will be announced very soon, along with dates for special meetings to discuss the revision. Throughout the entire process, a Committee of your fellow Members has worked diligently to protect your vested rights with the intent to better protect you, the Membership, and the Club. I look forward to presenting these changes to you and believe that you will recognize their value to Club governance in future years, as I do. Your support has meant a great deal to our staff, my family and me. This, my first season, has truly been inspirational. I am very proud to serve you and Quail Creek Country Club. And, we have only just begun. We do the opposite at QCCC. This summer, we will always have at least one course in great condition, and we will make sure the golfing activities keep going. One obvious advantage at QCCC is our summer golf hours and afternoon rates. While other clubs close their Golf Shops at 3:00 pm, we stay open until 5:00 pm and allow our Members to enjoy the long summer evenings in two ways. First, they can keep playing and keep their carts out until 8:00 pm. Second, our Members and up to three guests can play golf for just $20 each if they start after 4:00 pm. Many times, once the afternoon showers pass, the evening cools down, the skies clear and it's a perfect time for golf. We also have five lesson packages at an unbelievable rate of $250 for those who want to make this the summer of dramatic improvement. MGA News As our golf season comes to an end, we would like to thank all who participated and supported the MGA. Participation in each of our events has grown over the years. The prime directive of the MGA is to be an inclusive organization. We sponsor 12 events each season, and we make an honest effort to gear our events toward participation by all our members. The most popular event is the Ryder Cup, and this year was no exception. The field was full with a wait list, weeks before the tournament. The winning team was Canada, with Co-Captains Tom Kurgan and Joe Mortellaro at the helm. The members of the Canadian team hung on the final day for a convincing victory. The MGA Board would like to thank Rick Clatt for the great job he did as MGA President. We would like to recognize the outgoing Board Members, Tom Redmond, Bill Pescod and Paul Dell Uomo for their years of dedicated service. Congratulations to the MGA Board: Joe King, President; Gary Smith, Vice President; Tom Benua, Treasurer; Stu Hodgson, Secretary; and Bill Senter. 6 Spring Has Sprung! Welcome to the season that makes us glad to be here in Southwest Florida and especially here at Quail Creek Country Club (QCCC). After a very unusual winter with unpredictable weather patterns on a daily basis, it still turned out to be a fantastic golfing season. I hope and trust that everyone got out and hit the links From the Green Kevin F. Leo and got to play both courses many times this year. I really enjoyed seeing all of the long-time Members along with the newest Members out and about enjoying everything that QCCC has to offer. Now, your Golf Course Maintenance staff is getting ready for what we anticipate will be a good reciprocal season here at QCCC. As the month of May goes along, we will be gearing up for the start of summer cultural practices to improve on the playing conditions. This will include verticutting, aerification, topdressing and other fun stuff. I am working with other members of your management team to keep everyone posted on our progress and the timing. With the new equipment the Club has provided us, we should get many planned projects and procedures completed in a timely manner of course, weather permitting. We have some big plans to smooth out some spots and improve the growing conditions of the turf on the tees and fairways. Thank you for all of your positive feedback, and I look forward to seeing everyone out there this month. Enjoy! With Pride, Kevin FROM THE COURTS CONGRATULATIONS 2016 CLUB CHAMPIONS! 7 This letter arrived in my inbox several weeks ago and explains two Members' views of what makes this Club so very special. Dear Jennifer, Approximately 18 months ago, we began an assessment of the many well-regarded private country clubs in Naples. It was very interesting to experience how each club represented itself with its own appeal and ways to attract new members. We met some wonderful people along the way while experiencing their special club activities and amenities. Overall, we were looking for a club that felt more like a "community" where members seemed to care about one another, were down to earth and genuine and didn't seem to care as much about what we did versus who we are as people. It didn t take us long to discover that Quail Creek Country Club had that to offer and more! Better still, the Preview Membership was great for us as it allowed us time to explore the Club for one full year without the pressure of making a hasty decision. This gave us time to enjoy the people and activities and, more importantly, to just be ourselves. We were able to relax and allow our Ambassadors and other groups within the Club, like the Lady Niners, the Men s Golf Association, Mahjong, Book Club, Bocce and Tennis, to offer their support and suggestions, tell us why they love the Club and, best of all, make us feel special. And, then, there is the FUN. We appreciate people who enjoy life. We soon learned that this Club has some great events and some great dancers! When certain Members said they'd "call us to get together," they did. Consequently, we had an exceptionally special Easter dinner at a Member's home a few weeks ago. All this, plus the Club s beautiful golf courses, dining and other facilities led From Membership Jennifer May us to the knowledge that Quail Creek Country Club was the best fit for us. Last month, we converted to Class A Golf Membership, and are proud to say we're now official. We hope to pass along our enthusiasm for our Club to prospective Members, while continuing the friendships which have just begun and opening ourselves to new people along the way. To you, Jennifer, who was our warm and responsive first contact, all of the excellent and accommodating Club staff and all of the Members, who have made us feel welcome and included, we offer our gratitude. We are blessed to be part of this special community. Life is good at Quail Creek! Frank and Julie Mann PLEASE WELCOME QUAIL CREEK S NEWEST MEMBERS Michael & Kristin DePaola (Assoc.)
