2 Dear fellow Members, It has been a very hot, but busy, summer at Quail Creek Country Club. As opposed to last summer s difficult growing conditions, Mother Nature s timing of our summer rains optimized the grow-in phase of our Quail Course renovation project. Adding to the perfect timing, our rainfall has now reached a normal YTD 33 inches. We anticipate the Course to open in the first week of November and are planning to celebrate this major event with a Member tournament followed by cocktails and dinner. The week following the Course opening, we will start the season right with our annual Welcome Back Party on From Your President Bob Magrann Saturday, November 15. The theme this year is Around the World, and your Club promises to deliver another exceptional event, which will rival last year s experience. Each year this party is a sell-out, so you are encouraged to make your reservation early. It is hard to believe, but November is not that far away! Your return to paradise will be greeted with a few other changes that we are confident you will not only appreciate, but also enjoy, including a new look for the Cypress Room. We have, through the magic of wallpaper, paint and stain, created a more attractive, refreshed and enhanced appearance which emphasizes the formal elegance of this important area of our Club. Refurbished chairs reinforce and complement the design. I thank our House Chair, Peggy Cuozzo, for her leadership and direction to deliver another winner to our Clubhouse. Consistent with these changes, we also had a series of training programs for our service staff with the goal of making good service even better. All of our wait staff participated in the training, and I am optimistic you will recognize our progress. Lastly, our Golf Committee and management team have selected a new line of popular golf carts, Club Car, which offers a great ride with all of the usual support accessories. We originally were being offered a beverage cart as a purchase incentive, but have converted this offer into an additional cost reduction. Indeed, it has been a busy and exciting summer for our Club as we transform a product that was great to greater. I hope everyone enjoyed a summer of fun. We look forward to your return with safe travels. Bob 2 The summer of 2014 is almost over and what a productive summer we had here at Quail Creek Country Club! The improvements on the Creek Course were well received by our guests and reciprocal players from local clubs. The Course responded favorably to our summer aerification programs and the typical summer rains. The rainfall amount From the Green Kevin F. Leo this year has been much lower as compared to last year. The fairways had been enlarged and the rough cut reduced. That's the reason players are hitting more fairways. The Celebration turf grass, now on both Courses, is very durable and very lush. The Quail Course renovation was completed in July and is getting ready for a November opening. The Course received a new irrigation system and was re-grassed with Celebration turf grass on the tees, roughs and fairways. The greens and their slopes were also renovated, and greens were planted with Tif- Eagle Ultradwarf Bermuda grass. We are currently working on the growing process and landscaping. The asphalt cart paths around the tees and greens were replaced with concrete for a smoother driving surface. I ll bet everyone is getting excited about the Quail Course being reopened for the upcoming golfing season. I know I am. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer, and I look forward to seeing you out on your golf courses very soon. With Pride, Kevin

3 Dear Members, Wake up on the sunny side. Sunny Naples that is! Summer is winding down and season is fast approaching. As I write, the Club continues to embark on its master plan of improving all facets of Club life. Although our timing is a little off with regard to the Spa/ Fitness Center, I want to ensure all Members that they can take pride in knowing that Quail Creek Country Club (QCCC) is, and will continue to be, one of the best clubs in the state of Florida. And, there is no question that we have THE best Members anywhere! The Quail Course renovation has vastly improved playability, while, at the same time, will test your course management. I'm sure you will be delighted when you step onto the new Quail Course for the first time. The intention is to be able to open all 18 holes by November 6. You will first notice that the practice Putting Green has increased in size and that great attention to detail was placed on improving the short game area on the range. To be honest, I am not aware of any other thirty-six-hole country club in town that has three beautiful practice putting greens. Having new and restored spaces for our Members to thoroughly enjoy has given QCCC not only a huge lift, but From the Managing Director Ted Monty also expanded opportunities to promote social activities for all our Members, including our younger Members with families. We are mindful that the Membership Survey showed us the need to capture the spirit of what all our Members want. We are listening. This summer we have had several activities with our younger Members in mind, including a wildly successful Pool Party and a Back to School Pizza Party. Yes, it is that time of year already for Naples youngsters! Their enthusiasm keeps us all young. Let s talk New Year s Eve. You're probably thinking that I've lost my mind talking about New Year's in September. We haven t even celebrated the official start of fall weather. But this year, New Year s is a little different. We booked this year s entertainment, the band Billie Dean & Dawn, three years ago. This band played here on New Year s four years ago to a sellout crowd. So, when I went to book them again, guess what? They were booked for the next three years at various venues. But, this year is OUR year! We will follow last year s format of a prix fixed menu with several of your favorites as choices for $80 per person. But this year we will also be entertained by Billie Dean & Dawn from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. For those of you who have not had the pleasure of listening to Dawn sing, you are in for a treat. She sings for three straight hours with no breaks, and she has a powerhouse voice reaching high notes with ease. It doesn t matter what song it is, she hits it! This special evening will be limited to two hundred Members and guests. Be sure not to miss it and sign up now! You won t be disappointed. Ted MGA News As our MGA season approaches, there is once again great enthusiasm at Quail Creek Country Club (QCCC) as we anticipate the opening of the new Quail Course this fall. The MGA has planned a terrific schedule for this coming season. Our Opening Day event will take place on Saturday, October 25 and is chaired by Bill Senter. Golf will be followed by complimentary beer and hors d oeuvres on the Greenside Grille Patio (a cash bar will also be available). Then, at 6:30 pm, a delicious pig and chicken roast buffet dinner will be served in the Cypress Room. The registration fee for this event includes the cocktail party and dinner for two. This is a great way for our members to renew friendships. Look for the sign-up beginning in September. Bob Weidner is beginning preparations for the November 7 and 8 Homecoming Classic, which consists of two-man teams. It's always great fun and very competitive. Teams will be flighted based on team handicaps. The MGA Handbook, which provides details on each tournament and includes contact information for all MGA members, will be placed in lockers in early October. If you haven t joined the MGA and wish to do so, please contact Tom Benua at tsbenua@comcast.net. We look forward to seeing you in the fall! 3

No entry fee Dear Members, Life, like golf, is wonderful, mysterious, weird and challenging. Ultimately, you get out of it what you put into it. As your Club golf pro for almost twenty years, I have also experienced the passing of many of the finest people I have ever met. These Members were true ladies and gentlemen, full of life and good humor. They made our lives better for having known them. I mention this in the Quail Trails to honor them and also to remind myself and others that life is short, precious and not to be squandered. We are lucky to be a part of a fantastic private club in Naples, Florida. We should try to embrace that thought with gratitude every day in our words and actions. Entering my twentieth year, I vow to share my passion for the game of golf with more Members on a daily basis. In years past, I have been too busy fixing range pickers, handling staffing problems, doing scoreboards and other various jobs, in my effort to do my job at 110 percent. This year, I will continue to monitor the duties and details of my job while putting more importance on Member relations. HOLE-IN-ONE Curt Paulus #16 Creek Debbie Kallergis has recorded two holes-in-one at the Bigfoot Golf Club in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. Way to go Debbie! I will play more golf with a variety of Members, walk up and down the range more often giving free advice, and keep in mind that your daily golf experience is more important than some little behind-the-scene task. Some new and ongoing programs that I want to make you aware of for the upcoming season are: I will play golf, or have another pro play, with the ninehole Men s League on Thursdays at 10:00 am. The Men's League also plays on Mondays at 2:30 pm. We are forming a Junior Golf Team open to boys and girls, age We will meet for practice and play every Sunday at 2:00 pm. Our goal is to develop a team, complete with team shirts and hats, that can compete against other area clubs. The first Tuesday of every month at 3:30 pm we will host a three-hole golf event with wine and cheese or cigars and cognac. These events are for Members and their spouses who have never played golf or gave up golf at some point no experience is needed! We ll keep these informal golf outings fun and interesting. I will tell a politically incorrect joke at all WGA and Lady Niner functions. Nine and Dine golf events will be held one Thursday each month. Watch the Website, and posters for dates. This is a great way to host guests at the Club. Let s make it an awesome year to be at Quail Creek Country Club! Mike

This Member said the reason he joined was that when he first visited QCCC, he felt like, Everybody belongs in the fullest sense. With that conversation in mind, the prospect boarded a plane to Naples to visit us. He then flew home to have his wife sign the membership application. You have seen the postings of our candidates for Club membership throughout the summer months. This has been an unusually active spring and summer, and I look forward to the continued momentum through the fall. Although we are still in our off-season, our marketing efforts from May through August have resulted in our welcoming five new Class A and Preview Members, with seven more slated to begin in the early fall. Joining them have been four new Associate Members, with another two in process, and eight new Social Members, with more on their way. Our most important resource is you, our Members. This Member s words of advice and endorsement of QCCC convinced his longtime friend to apply for membership. So the moral of the story is: just because you ve known your acquaintances for a long time, it doesn t mean they know about QCCC! Spread the word!
