1 STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Shoalhaven City Turf Club ARCHER RACECOURSE Tuesday 4 October 2016 Weather: Fine Track: Good (4) Rail: True STEWARDS: J D Walshe (Chairman), B J Gray & T A McDonald Supplementary Report Goulburn Stewards Room 29 September 2016 An inquiry was opened into information received from Goulburn Track Manager Mr B Willis on the evening of 18 September 2016 relating to an occurrence during trackwork at Goulburn Racecourse on the morning of 17 September Evidence at the inquiry was obtained from licensed trainer Mr D Williams and a report relative to examinations of 5 YO mare La Bella Rouge on 19 th and 20 th of September 2016 provided by Southern Highlands Equine Centre veterinarian Dr J Whitfield was also tendered into evidence. On the evidence, Stewards deemed La Bella Rouge to have suffered a bleeding attack in accordance with the provisions of AR53A(1) on the morning of 17 September 2016 and Mr Williams was advised that the mare would incur the mandatory three month ban from racing under AR53A(4). Mr Williams was further found guilty of a charge under AR53A(2) of having failed to report to Stewards that La Bella Rouge had suffered a bleeding attack on the morning of 17 September In all the circumstances Mr Williams was fined the sum of $700. Supplementary Report Queanbeyan Monday 26 September 2016 Race 2: Chattachang Horse Of The Year Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2000m Trainer Mr M Gee subsequently reported that when he rode the gelding in its work at Goulburn on 28 September 2016, the gelding was very intractable and later that day his equine dentist examined and removed an abnormal wolf tooth from the gelding s lower jaw which he advised would cause discomfort with the positioning of a bit in the gelding s mouth. Mr Gee subsequently advised that the gelding subsequently proved tractable in its work the following day. RACE 1: Prime 7 F & M Maiden Handicap (Div 1) 1200m Dramatico As A Hyeronimus was found to be overweight, and when there were no available senior riders at the early stage of the meeting, Stewards permitted app B Ryan to be substituted as the rider of the mare. At a subsequent inquiry A Hyeronimus was fined the sim of $100 under AR120(b). Sorridi Slow to begin.

2 Our Ally Slow to begin. Passing the 900m when racing keenly, improved onto the heels of Miss Demi Monde which was eased and had to be checked and shifted out and raced wide thereafter. Moira Bumped on jumping by Breathing Fire, which shifted out. Boliviano Began awkwardly, shifted out and contacted Keep The Vision. Miss Demi Monde Approaching the 1000m was eased when crowded by Viva Lavino which was eased from the heels of Keep The Vision (app M Kinny) which shifted in when not clear. App M Kinny was advised top exercise more care. Viva Lavino After the 1000m was eased from the heels of Keep The Vision. The Intern Near the 900m was restrained from the heels of Boliviano which was taken in. Boliviano Near the 900m was eased when crowded for room by Mallaco Princess which shifted in away from Dramatico. Mallaco Princess Near the 900m shifted in away from Dramatico (App B Ryan) when racing greenly but was eased from the heels of that runner during the latter stage of the incident. App B Ryan was advised to exercise more care. Myristica Raced wide throughout. Breathing Fire Rounding the home turn laid in and had to be eased from the heels of Miss Demi Monde which simultaneously shifted out slightly. Rider app Ms R King was reminded of her obligations to rider her mounts out fully to the end of the race. Almost Crystal When questioned, rider app M McGillvray stated that after the 100m, he lost the use of his near rein and due to the strong winds which were unbalancing and his initial grasp at the buckle, it took some time to obtain a subsequent satisfactory purchase on the rein at which point he was able to re-continue to ride his mount to the line. RACE 2: Kel Campbell Fuel Haulage F & M Maiden Handicap (Div 2) 1200m Ellie Beach A pre-race veterinary examination of the mare which was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties, cleared the mare fit to start. Lady Patrika Slow to begin. Only Leonnie Bumped on jumping with Bristling Ocean. Saarlay Began very awkwardly with its head up. Passing the 250m was restrained from the heels of Kilana Lass which hung in.

3 Miss Bourbon Bar Passing the 50m was checked when crowded by Kilana Lass which hung in despite the efforts of its rider. Kilana Lass When questioned, rider A Banks explained that his mount pulled extremely hard throughout and after straightening hung in badly despite his efforts to keep it straight and as a consequence could not be tested. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Ms L Wray was told that the mare would be required to barrier trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again. Number One Lady Stable representative Ms K Hansch was told that a warning would be recorded against the mare which was uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Following the running of this race when it was apparent that the alignment of running rail at the 800m was unsatisfactory in that it was found to come out, the rail was able to be realigned without delaying the remainder of the programme. RACE 3: Hanlon Windows Maiden Plate 1600m Over The Air - Change of tactics: To be ridden more forward; led. Royal Stamp Slow to begin. RACE 4: Coates Hire Nowra Benchmark 60 Handicap (Heat Of The Rising Star) 1600m Fluctuations Slow to begin. Kurmond Road When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rider app A Sweeney stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages however passing the 600m did not respond to his riding and disappointed in its failure to run on in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Only In Red For some distance near the 250m was inclined to lay in and consequently its rider had some difficulty coming to the outside of the heels of Sungine to obtain clear running. Jayko Rider app M Nakao was spoken to regarding her use of the whip when her mount was out of contention. RACE 5: Kinghorn Motor Group Benchmark 64 Handicap 1200m Green Aventurine Rider app B McDougall dropped his whip passing the 200m. Just Dylan Rider A Hyeronimus dropped his whip near the 200m. RACE 6: Carlton United C,G & E Maiden Handicap 1200m Griddlebone Proved unruly in the mounting enclosure and rider W Costin was consequently dislodged on a couple of occasions. W Costin later reported some soreness in her right knee but declined the offer of an examination from the Club s ambulance officer. The gelding was a late withdrawal by order of the Stewards at 3:53pm. Subsequently it was

4 ordered that all investments on Griddlebone be refunded in full and that all successful bets placed with bookmakers prior to 3:53pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st Living Choice: 3c win and 5c place 2 nd Chyseing Ivy: 5c place 3 rd Vallhalla Member: 5c place At a subsequent inquiry, stable representative Mr G Murray was told that the gelding would be required to prove its pre-race behaviour in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. Sir Douglas Began awkwardly. Valhalla Member Began awkwardly and was contacted by You Smart Fox shortly after. Over-raced in the middle stages. Near the 600m was eased when placed in restricted room between Valentino Rossa and Living Choice which was taken in slightly by Knight s Honour. Chyseing Ivy Passing the 700m had to be checked when crowded by Hoodless (J Ford) which shifted in when not clear. J Ford was reprimanded under AR137(a). Billeve Angels Hung out rounding the home turn. Ella Walking Over-raced in the middle stages and passing the 800m after being crossed by Call Me Anything laid in when racing ungenerously. Faith In Beers Passing the 800m was hampered by Ella Walking which shifted in when over-racing. Valentino Rossa Over-raced in the middle stages and made the 700m turn awkwardly. Hoodless When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider J Ford explained that his mount was agitated prior to the race. He added that whilst the gelding travelled well in the lead, approaching the home turn his mount was under pressure and thereafter did not respond to his riding in the straight and was disappointing and in his view had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr R Price concurred with the views of his rider and advised that the gelding would now be spelled. You Smart Fox Over the concluding stages was eased to avoid the heels of Chyseing Ivy (app N Burrells) which shifted in when not quite clear. App N Burrells was advised to exercise more care. RACE 7: St. Georges Basin Country Club Class 2 Handicap 1200m Cosmic Rush Contacted on jumping by Major Sharpe which shifted out and was crowded soon after between that runner which shifted out and Deluxe.

5 Distorted Demand Raced wide throughout. Four Diamonds Trainer Mr J Marzol was told that a warning would be recorded against the mare which was uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. RACE 8: Sussex Inlet Probus Class 1 Handicap 1400m Immortal Miss Slow to begin. Little River Road After the 1300m was crowded between Mustang Dylan and I ve Got This which shifted out after its rider attempted to relieve pressure to his inside. In the incident rider app A Sweeney lost the use of his left iron for a distance of some 100m after that iron dislodged from his foot when it came into contact with Mustang Dylan. Murmaid After the 1300m was restrained when tightened for room between Hapizen and Mustang Dylan which was taken out. Excellent Oratorio After the 200m was checked. Rider B El-Issa (Immortal Miss) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that after the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out under pressure when insufficiently clear of Excellent Oratorio which had established a position between Immortal Miss and Hapizen, resulting in Excellent Oratorio losing its rightful running and having to be checked. B El-Issa s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 9 October 2016 and to expire on Saturday 22 October 2016, on which day he may ride. Yeeha Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RACE 9: My Travel Expert Nowra Benchmark 55 Handicap 1400m Murrmaid Trainer Mr J Sargent represented by Mr G McRae was fined the sum of $100 under LR36A for failing to withdraw the filly which was a dual acceptor in Race 8, by the prescribed time. The filly was subsequently withdrawn officially at 8:25am. Bill N Eve Slow to begin. Luceo Non Uro Passing the 1200m was restrained when crowded for room between Silver Threads and Yarragee Road which, when racing ungenerously, shifted in away from Lad About Town. Swab Samples: Swab samples were obtained from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Mallaco Princess, Myristica Race 2: Ellie Beach, Kilana Lass Race 3: King Of Saigon, Royal Stamp
