4 P 4 Conditions of Sale Venue Foveran Deer Park sales complex, Foveran Deer Park, Haka Valley, Kurow, North Otago, 8km from Kurow (will be signposted). Deer Inspection Deer may be inspected in the paddock at any time prior to the sale by arrangement. On DAY OF SALE deer may be inspected from 11.30am. DNA Identification All Foveran master sires and our entire stud female breeding herd have now been DNA profiled (for confidence in the accuracy as to our breeding). Insurance Insurance facilities are available at the office. Insurance is the responsibility of the purchaser and any stock left on Foveran is strictly at the purchaser s risk. Conditions of Sale The sale will be conducted by Rural Livestock Limited with the conditions of sale as set down by the New Zealand Stock and Stations Agents Association, a copy of which is exhibited in the office on sale day. Each lot becomes the purchaser s property and risk at the fall of the hammer. Warranties and insurance are covered under separate headings. Terms are strictly cash unless prior arrangements are made with the auctioneers. Accounts not paid within 14 days of sale shall bear interest, at 24% per annum from the date of sale. If payment is not received within 30 days from sale, reservation of title will revert to Foveran for security purposes until account is paid in full, including interest owing. The sale is conducted exclusive of GST. A buyer's commission of 5% is payable to nonparticipating companies and recognised independent agents introducing and accompanying purchasers to the sale providing prior arrangements (no later than 24hrs prior to sale) are made with PGG Wrightson. Intending purchasers are required to register with the auctioneers prior to the commencement of the sale.

5 P 5 Conditions of Sale cont./ Guarantee No animals, embryos or semen sold by Foveran Deer Park or their germplasm or any subsequent progeny or germplasm, including the semen and germplasm of that progeny, may be supplied to a third party without the written permission of Foveran Deer Park. This condition does not affect normal commercial deer farming or stud farming or the normal sales of semen or embryos as it only applies to entities with the primary function of commercial semen/germplasm activities. It is a condition of sale of any animals, embryos, germplasm or semen sold by Foveran Deer Park that the purchaser agrees to include the following clause as a condition of any subsequent sale or gift of any animal, embryo, semen, germplasm or subsequent progeny or germplasm to a third party the purchaser acknowledges that it will not supply any animals, embryos, semen or germplasm to any commercial semen/germplasm marketing or sales entity, and will ensure that this clause is inserted as a condition of any sale or gift of any animals, embryos, semen or germplasm. TB Status Our herd status continues to be a C10 classification. Guarantee All sale stags are guaranteed in terms of their genetic performance and temperament through DNA profiling. This does not include sickness or injury. All deer in this sale are tested for Johnes and are deemed sound for use as a sire stag. Any stag that does not meet the standards mentioned above will be replaced or a full credit given to use at a subsequent Foveran Deer Park Sale. 6 P 6 Foreword Dear Clients and Friends, Welcome to our 36th Annual Elite Sire Stag sale. This year a feature of our sale will be Orlando at Lot 1 in this catalogue. He was placed 3rd in the National 3yr Hard Antler Competition scoring an impressive 611 IOA with the burrs and spread added. Last year at 5yrs he scored 712 IOA and his head looks equally as impressive this year. As announced last year we are not offering any 2 year old stags this year. The 3, 4 and 5yr old stags on offer are able to mate larger numbers of hinds and so represent better value. We are impressed with the stags on offer this year. At the time of writing this they are showing a lot of potential and we are confident they will look impressive by the time they have finished growing their antler. The photos in the catalogue have been taken late November and as you will see they are at various stages of antler growth. As always our stags are guaranteed and so you can buy with confidence knowing that we stand behind all of the stags on offer here in this sale. The sale stags can be viewed by appointment at anytime prior to the sale and from 11.30am on sale day. Do join us for lunch prior to the sale and a drink and a snack afterwards if you wish. 7 P 7 Mission Statement Our motto Breeding the difference a term that best describes our intention for our deer stud at Foveran. By continuing our intensive breeding programme in what we believe is the largest red deer stud in New Zealand, it is our intention to supply the NZ deer industry with the very best genetics for venison growth rates, velvet production, and also our fast growing high end trophy antler stags. DBVs Velvet Trophy Venison growth rates. We continue to develop this major trait within our deer herd, with encouraging results. Our German herd for example, with Master sires such as Amadeus, Bonn, Wredeson Major & Red Baron leading the way, and some of our weaners at weaning in February topping out at 90kg. Yearling spikers to 155kg and 2 year olds to 253kg. By identifying specific lines of deer for velvet production, we are constantly improving the performance per animal to improve not only the production levels per animal but also the components of velvet conformation. As a result our velvet herd continues to grow with fast improving results. The fastest growing component of our deer industry at present. Foveran s commitment is to not only supply high end trophies for ourselves, but also to supply elite trophy genetics to the deer farming community. The continued improvement of our trophy herd is rewarding us with some massive red deer trophy antler heads with long-tined, heavy, wide, wow type configurations. Our German herd strategically crossed with European and English genetics has given us the opportunity to do that. Temperament We continually manage and evaluate the herd for this important trait.

Unfortunately McCaw died this year as the result of an injury.

He was the sire of Lot 15 sold at last year s stag sale for $45,000 and went on to be placed 3rd in the National 2yr HA competition. A very heritable sire who has left a huge legacy in our herd.

He was one of an impressive line up of Odysseus sons on offer. He has a heavy clean beam with big tops and an impressive spread. We have used Houghton in our ET programmes and also in our stud breeding programme. Houghton continues to leave us impressive progeny as can be seen with his sons in this sale.

He was one of an impressive line of Odysseus sons and shares his sire with McCaw and Houghton. Note that McCaw is Odysseus over a full sister to Kane and so we know this mix works well. Stapleford has strong front tynes and tops. His antler structure as a 5 year old improved markedly and he was looking to be as impressive as McCaw. Unfortunately he met with an accident and so we will never know for sure!

Sebastian was the sire of Lot 1 at the 2014 stag sale, an impressive 2yr old sold to Ruanui at 194kg with a very strong 21 point antler. His grand sire, the great Amadeus, was a top all round sire for both bodyweight and antler structure. His grand dam 6666 is a top performing dam and has produced some exceptional 2 year old sires most recently lot 28 at the 2014 stag sale a 2yr old at 205kg with a 22 point antler also sold to Ruanui.

Use him for breeding future trophy stags or take him as an impressive high scoring trophy.

Charlie Mac, a former SCI World record trophy sire at over 20kg of antler is also making his presence felt in this mix. This stag has an extra right bey, strong fronts and beam with heavy tops coming. Expect close to 30 points.

Remember too that Dam sire Apollo is a full brother to Holy Oak and Discombe. All three were placed in the top 5 as 3yr olds in the National Rising stars competition. This stag has very strong fronts with multi pointed tops coming.
