7 SUPPLEMENTARY RULES FOR STATE SHOWJUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS REFERENCE DOCUMENTS PCAWA Showjumping Championships 2017 Reference Document - EA National Jumping Rules FEI Rules for Showjumping - PCAWA Gear Checking Manual - Please note: The only exception to the EA National Jumping Rules and FEI Rules for Showjumping is the set PCAWA Showjumping speeds. As outlined in the table below. HEIGHT 105cm and above 85cm to 105cm Up to and including 80cm SPEED (metres per minute) 350mpm 325mpm 300mpm QUALIFICATIONS The Showjumping classes available are for Zone Teams, Club Teams and Individual Competitors. Competitors must show three rally attendances for each horse and rider combination. Two of these three rally attendances must have been at the club that the horse and rider combination is representing. The rally attendances must be in the 12 months up to the close of entries of the State Showjumping Championships. A rider may only qualify two horses at one rally. For Zone Qualifications, please refer to the PCAWA Showjumping Championships 2017 Reference Document - CLASHES In the event of a clash in the timetable, riders that have been selected in the Zone team must ride in the Zone class. The order of preference should be as follows: 1. Zone 2. Club Teams 3. Individual Rider

8 SUPPLEMENTARY RULES FOR STATE SHOWJUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS HORSES Each horse or pony may only be ridden by one rider for the duration of the championships. A competitor may enter and ride two horses over the championship weekend. The rider and horse combination must be competent at the height(s) that they have elected to enter. It is highly recommended that a rider and horse combination competes in no more than four rounds per day. RIDERS Riders may only ride one horse in each height per class. The only exception is the AM7, where only one height can be ridden by a rider and horse combination. Riders are encouraged to display good sportsmanship by entering appropriate classes with their mounts. It is discouraged for riders to ride down (i.e. competing regularly at 100cm and then riding down in an 80cm team event). A horse and rider combination can represent their Club in the Brigid Woss/Showjumping Bursary and the Teams Challenge, but they cannot enter again these classes on a second mount or be in a second Club team. TEAMS Depending upon the venue, facilities and the format of the State Championships, Club and Zones may enter more than one team in each class. However, the total number of entries accepted will be at the discretion of the PCAWA State Showjumping Committee. In team classes, riders will jump in programmed order. If a club or zone has insufficient riders to form a team, the PCAWA State Showjumping Committee will create a composite team with riders from the same Zone or conduct a ballot for composite teams. PROTESTS Only the Team Manager can lodge a protest for Team events. Only the Zone Manager can lodge a protest for Zone teams. Only parents or a guardian can lodge a protest for Individual events. Protests must be in writing on the prescribed form, signed by the person making the protest and presented personally to the Event Secretary with any supporting evidence, names of witnesses and the necessary deposit of $50. A protest must be made no later than 30 minutes after the scores and results have been posted. Forms can be obtained at the Event Office.

9 SUPPLEMENTARY RULES FOR STATE SHOWJUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS SUBSTITUTIONS Clubs may not substitute a member of a composite team to fill a vacancy in a Club Team once the Draw has been completed. A duly qualified rider and horse combination, not already entered in the competition may be the substitute. The Team Manager must lodge a substitution form with the Event Office before the class. Forms can be obtained from the office. If you are in a composite team, the Team Manager must lodge the form on the team s behalf, not the individual or club. TEAM MANAGERS Must be familiar with the Duties of a Team Manager This document can be found in the PCAWA Handbook: Part 4 Competition and Training ( downloads) Team Managers must attend all briefings scheduled and/or announced. HELPER DUTIES All helper duties will be allocated to clubs, not to individuals. Clubs must nominate one person to be their Club Duties Coordinator. The Club Duties Coordinator must not be a Team Manager. The Club Duties Coordinator must be present during the two days of the State Championships and is responsible for organising enough members from their club to fulfil the duties which they have been allocated. Clubs must supply the PCAWA State Showjumping Committee with a list of helper names and duties allocated to them. Every horse and rider combination must have a nominated helper. Any club not providing enough helpers have the potential to be eliminated. Small clubs helper duties will be combined with other clubs and Helper Duty Managers are encouraged to contact the other club to coordinate duties before the event, as you are required to supply names against helper position. The Club Coordinator agrees to have their name and phone number made available to other clubs. If classes run for a long period of time, helpers may be changed during the day. Clubs that are required to supply Gear checkers for their helper duties, are encouraged to list duly qualified volunteers. If a club does not perform its allocated duty, the club will be disqualified from the State Championships and any placings or prizes will be forfeited.
