5 Important Notices Phone Number Correction Kristin Orr's telephone number for making stall reservations for the Amateur Shows is Business Card renewals It was recently brought to my attention that business card renewals used to have an invoice sent out prior to their expiration date. I apologize if this has caused any confusion with your card being removed without notifying you. The expiration date is at the bottom of each card listed in the newsletter. If your business card is soon to expire and you would like to renew it, please send in the $60 renewal fee. I will try my best to notify you if your card is going to expire. 11 This year the Ohio Paint Horse Club has compiled a trail pattern book for use at all the OPHC regular weekend shows. You have an opportunity to purchase a book for $2 and practice the patterns that the judges will pick from. The pattern used for each show will be announced on the day of the show and range from easy to difficult. Trail patterns will still be posted at the entry booth but the pattern books are only available from the youth club. Pattern books are available at the shows for sale by the OPHC youth club. 12 OPHC Futurity Entries: If you nominated your weanling, yearling or two year old to the OPHC Halter Futurity on January 31, 2008 you will receive around the middle of July your entry information in a packet (mailed ) for your second payment which is due August 5, If you now have a yearling or two year old that was nominated into this Futurity by January 31st of their weanling year and you want to enter the yearling or two year old classes this entry can be excepted with a late fee. Give me a call or e mail and will get all the info out to you. Also as a reminder, all owners of the entry must be OPHC Members and any exhibitor must also be a member before entering the ring. This rule also is in effect with all Ohio Paint Horse Club Futurities and Performance Stakes. Another reminder is that if you are showing a Yearling or Two Year Old halter futurity classes in the OPHC Futurity you must also enter the Open APHA class as these classes will run concurrently with the APHA Open Class. Super Horse Award: The award will be a sterling silver, custom designed, hand engraved belt buckle. To qualify for this award a horse must be entered, all payments made, and shown in four categories (WP, HUS, Reining & Barrels). There will be no extra entry fee for this award and multiple riders (who meet OPHC membership requirements) will be eligible for each horse. The winner will be the horse with the most points accumulated in the four categories. Points will be tabulated from each of the four judges. For a class of six or more horses, the first place horse will receive six points, the second place will receive five points, etc. Ties will be broken by: 1. Horse with most first places, 2. Horse with one rider opposed to multiple, 3. Flip of a coin. (Yearlings are not eligible for this award). 18. It is the responsibility of the owners of horses to be sure all payments are made in full and by postmark deadlines, including memberships to OPHC. 15 OHIO BRED, OWNED, SHOWN FUTURITY RULES 1. The Stallion must be Ohio owned or at least one of the owners must reside in Ohio. 2. The Mare must be owned or leased by an Ohio resident. (If leased, a lease agreement must be signed and sent to the Futurity Chairperson.) 3. All owners and/ or part owners and leasee must be members in good standing of the Ohio Paint Horse Club at time of futurity entry. OPHC dues must be paid by a separate check mailed to the membership chairperson, not included with the entry. 4. Futurity Chairperson must be notified in writing of ownership transfer. New owner must be an Ohio resident and a member of the Ohio Paint Horse Club by show date. 5. If the new owner is a resident of another state, foal or entry(s) becomes ineligible. 6. All showmen must be paid members of the Ohio Paint Horse Club by show date. 7. Showmen: Must meet the following relationship criteria: Self, Spouse, Mother, Father, Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, Aunt, Uncle, Step Child, Half Brother, Half Sister, Grand Parent, Grand child, Legal ward, In-laws, Legal Guardian, Family Owned Corporation, Ranch or Farm. APHA Rule AM 020 & YP Futurity Classes are: Weanling Paint Colts, Weanling Breeding Stock Colts, Weanling Paint Fillies, Weanling Breeding Stock Fillies, Yearling Paint Colts & Geldings, Yearling Breeding Stock Colts and Geldings, Yearling Paint Fillies, Yearling Breeding Stock Fillies, Yearling Paint Longeline and Yearling Breeding Stock Longeline. 9. Copy of Yearling Registration Papers must be forwarded along with the entry form to Chairperson. 12. Weanlings may show without papers, but prize money will be withheld until written proof ( copy of APHA Registration Papers, or a copy of the letter of intent to register from the APHA Office) of registration has been supplied to Futurity Chairperson, PRIOR TO JANUARY 1 st of the Yearling Year. The winnings will be held with the letter of intent from APHA or if an inspection by APHA is necessary until APRIL 1 ST of the Yearling Year. 13. Entry fees for this Futurity are not co-mingled with any other funds of the Ohio Paint Horse Club % of the entry fees are to be used for futurity expenses. 15. Late penalty payments will be added to appropriate division. 16. Prize Money: 1 horse 1 place 100% 2 horses 2 places 60% 40% 3-5 horses 3 places 50% 30% 20% 6-15 horses 5 places 37% 28% 20% 10% 5% horses 7 places 36% 26% 17% 9% 5% 4% 3% 26+ horses 8 places 35% 24% 15% 8% 6% 5% 4% 3% 17. All checks will be mailed to winners within thirty (30) days after the show, providing written proof of registration (copy of registration papers) has been furnished to Futurity Chairperson. After January 1 st of the yearling year, if proof in form of registration papers or the letter of intent from APHA with the APHA Work Number on it has not been forwarded to the Futurity Chairperson or if the Ohio Paint Horse Club memberships of all Owners and Showmen (refer to above Rules 3,5,6 & 7), money will be forfeited and redistributed. Only exception is Rule There will be no refunds or substitutions of any kind issued by the Ohio Paint Horse Club for any reason. 19. Four judge system will be used. Placing will be tabulated using the point system whereby all four judges placings are counted with equal value, however, in case of a tie, ties will not be broken. Prize money will be divided equally among the horses tied for that placing. 20. It is the responsibility of the owners of horses entered in this OPHC sponsored futurity to be sure all payments are made in full and on time. This includes all memberships to OPHC. The OPHC, its Officers, Directors and Chairpersons will not be responsible for any missed payments and/or unpaid memberships. The OPHC Board reserves the right to interpret, amend and enforce all rules. Any decision or interpretation made by the Board shall be final. 16
