2 Dear Competitor, Firstly, thank you very much to those of you who entered the show last year; we hope you will re-enter this year and enjoy the day competing and around the show itself. There are a few changes to some of the rings and classes as we have scheduled classes that are popular and what competitors continue to enter - please read the schedule very carefully. The organising committee have volunteered to continue the Horse & Pony section for the show and we are always looking for volunteers to join us with preparation with the show and on show day, any new members always welcome! Being here at Chepstow Racecourse it is very important to note that the BHA - Racecourse Authorities require all equines to have had their yearly flu injections. You will need to make sure that you are carrying your equine passports, which is a legal requirement from DEFRA when moving equines. Passports will be checked (please bring with you to enter) and if they do not comply with the requirements you will be asked to leave the racecourse. Entries will be null and void and entry money will not be refunded. Horses that have had the first two of the three injections necessary will be accepted. If you are unsure of the periodicity for these injections please check with your vet; but I suggest that if you intend to enter, and do not currently comply, you should organise your flu injections as early as possible. You will also find that it is not acceptable to compete your horse or pony within 8 days of an injection. This complies with FEI rules under which racecourses operate, but you are not required to have 6 monthly periodicity, which is required for internationally competing horses and ponies. All classes are available to all competitors. 3 Rules and Regulations Horse and Pony Section 1 The Committee have the right to refuse entries without having to assign any reason. 2 Any entry fee paid will not be returnable unless the animal is incapacitated by accident, injury or illness. Any claim under this rule must be made in writing to the Secretary and must be accompanied by a certificate issued by a Veterinary Surgeon by the day of the show. 3 Entries will not be accepted unless received on the correct entry form properly completed and signed by the competitor, or their authorised agent, parent or carer acting on their behalf. Entries must be accompanied by the correct remittance in full whether pre-entry or on the day. Please note CASH ONLY ON THE DAY. 4 No entries will be accepted over the telephone. 5 No unauthorised person may enter the show ring or collecting ring. 6 All exhibits are shown at their owner s risk. 7 All competitors and grooms must follow the Judge s/steward instructions. 8 All equines must comply with FEI vaccination for Riding Club Horses, ie the yearly flu injections not the 6 monthly for internationally competing horses. 9 No person shall interfere with or try to influence the judge from inside or outside the ring; or the going of an exhibit. 10 The Association its officers or staff shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss, however caused, that may occur to any exhibitor, groom, or any animal, article or property, whilst on the showground or whilst entering or leaving. 11 Objections, which can only be lodged by competitors in the class concerned, must be in writing and delivered to the Secretary within 30 minutes on completion of judging of the class involved. A deposit of 30 must accompany the objection, which will be forfeited if the objection is unsuccessful. The decision of the Committee will, in any dispute, be final. 12 It is the competitors responsibility to wear the correct clothing for their classes. Please check with the association under whose rules you are competing. All riders and handlers must wear the correct head gear which should comply with British, European or American Standards. EN1384 is only acceptable when accompanied by PAS015 (1998 or 2011), VG ( ), ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards), SNELL E2001, AS/NZS3838 (2006 onwards). It is your responsibility to check your hat, it will invalidate your insurance! 13 It is the responsibility of the competitor to arrive on the show ground at least one hour before the scheduled time of their class to allow for traffic congestion in the vicinity of the show ground. The timetable is an approximate guide only and the Show Committee reserve the right to alter ring allocation or the timing of classes as may be necessary. The Team will make every effort to avoid clashes of class, but it is the Competitors responsibility to be at the correct ring for their class and or inform the Secretary and Team of any potential clash. Classes will not be held up for more than 20 minutes in the case of a clash. Although every effort will be made, the Association will not be responsible for any loss where an exhibitor has made entries in more than one class, or because of a class over run, it is not possible for the exhibitor to compete in one or more later classes. No claim for refund of fees paid or other loss, direct indirect or consequential will be accepted or paid. 14 All competitors/exhibitors competing in any event shall be deemed to be subject to the rules and regulations of Chepstow Agricultural Show. 15 A Veterinary Surgeon and Farrier will be in attendance. 16 Classes are open to all whether a member or non-member of the affiliated society. 17 Pre entries will close on 3 rd August Any perpetual trophies should be returned to the Secretary at least two weeks before this date. 18 The riding and in hand showing of stallions competitors should refer to their society rules and comply explicitly. 3

Change over time will count. If one of the ponies/horses is whip shy swapping the whip will not be necessary but a touch change-over will be required. Judged on time, faults will be added to the time.
