8 We are offering online entries through There is an entry charge for this service. Below are instructions to enter online. What you need: A free account at HorseShowsOnline. If you don t already have an account you can create one when you click the continue button below. HorseShowsOnline basic member is FREE. A record in your account for each person and horse that you will use on show entry forms when you enter a show. How do I get started: 1. Login to HorseShowsOnline by clicking the Member Services button in the main menu, OR click the continue button below. 2. Once you are logged in, click the My Horses, People, Shows button in the member menu. 3. At the People, Horses, Shows page, add any new people and horses to your account as required on the appropriate tab (IE: My People, My Horses). People and horses are saved with your account. Once you have those records in your account you can use them at every show you enter. 4. Click the Enter show button to select the show you want to enter and follow the steps in the online entry wizard. Steps to enter a show: Select the show you want to enter from your My People, Horses, Shows page on the My Show Entries tab, or find the show you want to enter in show selector and click the Online Entry icon. This will start the online entry wizard. Make sure you have already created the horses and people in your member account. The online entry wizard will guide you through the steps to complete the entry form. The basic steps in the wizard are: 1. Select the horse, people, and riders for your entry 2. Select the classes each rider is entered in. 3. Select the quantity for stalls and other fees. 4. Confirm your selections 5. Checkout and submit the show entry. The final step generates the completed entry form and submits your entry to the show for review and acceptance. If the show requires a payment at entry time, you will be prompted for your credit card information. Tips: You can cancel the entry part way through the wizard and resume the entry later on. For example if you need to add more people to your account, or you just want to come back and complete the entry later. Unfinished entry forms are listed in your My entries tab and will allow you to edit the entry. People and horses you create in your account are saved permanently and can be used in other shows you enter. GOLDEN WEST MORGAN COUNCIL Scholarship Application The Golden West Morgan Council is proud to offer two $500 scholarships to students who are pursuing higher education beyond high school. The objective of the Council is not to act as a club itself, but rather to act as a support group for each of the clubs in the Western Region; to approve and coordinate Morgan Horse Shows and fairs with Morgan classes that take place within the Western Region to encourage and assist the clubs in promoting the Morgan Horse to the public, especially the Youth, through education as to the history and uses of the Morgan Horse. If you are pursuing an educational endeavor, we urge you to submit a scholarship application. The following is a general outline of the program: 1. Two $500 scholarships are available annually, generally one from the North and one from the South. 2. 11 Medallion Hall of Fame established 1989 Horses who are inducted into this Hall of Fame are those outstanding individuals who have been standouts in their particular division of competition. Only those stabled and shown in the West Coast Region will be considered. No World title is needed, but horses will not be overlooked because of their titles. The Medallion Hall of Fame Committee will choose an inductee each year, prior to the show. The committee is not obligated to choose from those nominated. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current UNITED STATES EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. 2. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Prelimiary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Horses shown in the Morgan division must be registered with the American Morgan Horse Association, Inc., or an organi- zation having registry reciprocity, (Canadian Morgan Horse Association, British Morgan Horse Society, Swedish Morgan Horse Society.) Horses must be entered under their full registered name or if under one year of age be eligible for registration. Horses must be entered under the names of the owner(s) or lessee of record. A copy of the registration papers showing recorded ownership or proof of lease must be submitted with entry form at the time of making entry. Competition management is responsible for notifying exhibitors of this requirement. See MO101 in the USEF Rule Book. 7. Mandatory: Protective headgear as defined in DR120.6, From the time horses are officially admitted to the competition grounds by competition management, anyone mounted on a horse at any time on the competition grounds, including non-competing riders, riders on non-com- peting horses, mounted participants in exhibition classes and those competing in all classes and tests, including Para- Equestrian tests, must wear protective headgear as de ned by this rule and otherwise in compliance with GR The Morgan shall be shown in all its natural beauty with a full mane, forelock and tail. Braiding is permitted only in Hunter, Jumper, Dressage and ADS Carriage classes or in classes when shown under proper Hunter or Dressage tack and attire. Addition of supplemental hair in mane or tail, evidence of ginger. other irritants or use of any device in the ring to alter the natural carriage of the tail or ears shall result in disqualification. The Morgan s form and movement in its distinctive gaits should be the result of selective breeding. Rubber or elastic (except on boots) attached in any way to the legs or hooves shall not be used on the show grounds at any time. Vertical half-cup blinkers are acceptable on the show grounds and in the warm-up ring. Blinders of any kind are not allowed. Stallions are prohibited in Ladies to Ride, Junior Exhibitor, Walk/Trot and Leadline classes. 9. Except for weanlings and yearlings which must be shown barefoot, horses may be shod or barefoot. If shod, the shoe may be of any type and configuration. Exception: In the case of the bar shoe, the bar may not extend below the ground surface of the shoe. Borium or standard screw-in caulks are allowed. There are different length restrictions according to the section or class within the Morgan Division. If the limit for length of toe and/or width of pad is exceeded, the horse must be disqualified from the entire competition and forfeit all entry fees and all winnings including but not limited to all prize money, sweepstakes, trophies, scholarships, ribbons, points, etc. from the entire competition. In Classic Pleasure classes, horses may be shown with or without rim pad(s). Rim pads must follow the inner and outer edge of the shoe and the connection at the heel must not be wider than any aspect of the shoe. The entire sole and frog of the foot must be visible with the exception of that connection at the heel and the length of toe including shoe and pad(s) must not exceed 4 1/2. In English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, and Natural Park classes the length of toe must not exceed 5 including pad and shoe. 6. In all In-Hand classes, Parade, Park Saddle, Park Harness, Hunter, Jumper, Eventing, Cutting, Reining, Carriage, Morgan Heritage, Equitation and all other Morgan Classes (exception: English Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Natural Park, and Classic Pleasure Sections) the length of toe must not exceed 5 3/4 including pads and shoe Miscellaneous Junior Exhibitor Section Open to Exhibitors who have not yet reached their 18 th birthday. During the class, the judge must ask horses to halt and walk off on a loose rein both ways of the ring. For safety reasons, the judge may limit the number of horses to hand gallop at one time. Excessive speed at the hand gallop should be penalized. To be judged on performance with proper cadence and balance, manners and suitability for a r oad hack 60%; type and conformation 40%. Open to saddle seat or hunter pleasure tack Charity Pro/Am Class - Any Seat Friday Evening $100 Open to Stallions, Mares, and Geldings of any breed. To be shown at a walk, trot/jog and canter/lope. To be shown the first direction of the ring by a Professional rider. To be shown the second direction by an Amateur rider. One attendant may assist during the rider change. Open specifications to apply first way of the ring, Amateur specifications to apply on the reverse. Open to all seats. The prize fund comes from the pro/am teams raising money for their charity cause. Each pair must choose a charity to ride for and must collect contributions prior to the show. Before the start of the Friday evening session, they must name their charity and turn in all of the funds they have raised. Checks must be made out to Morgan Medallion (NOT to any specific charity). Only checks and cash will be accepted. We cannot accept credit cards and any other fundraising tools (i.e. GoFundMe, PayPal, etc.) must be closed out and funds turned into the Morgan Medallion via cash or check. All funds collected will be put into a pot to be divided as follows: Morgan Medallion receives 10%, The winning Team s Charity receives 50%, Second Place s Team receives 20%, The remaining 10% will be divided among ALL OTHER charities represented. Each team has a minimum required amount of $ to be raised by that team, however, teams are encouraged to raise as much as they can. The more raised, the more EVERY charity receives! Anyone wishing to taste the various margaritas and snacks served will need to buy an official Morgan Medallion glass. Your glass is your ticket to sample. Consider this the best block party ever...without the walking! All Champions and Reserve Champions in classes restricted to Morgans must have one foot measured immediately upon leaving the ring except in classes where points are accumulated to determine Championships (i.e., Dressage and Hunter) (See GR510). In Morgan Division classes which are judged without consideration for type and conformation where the Federation has specific shoeing regulations in the discipline rules, those Federation rules govern all Morgan classes, except the length of toe must not exceed 5 3/4 including pads and shoe. In Saddle Seat Classic Equitation, the Classic Pleasure shoeing will prevail (MO127.3). All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee but solely at the risk of the Exhibitor to Ride, who will be responsible for any loss. damage or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned to him, his agents or employees, or by an animal owned or exhibited by him, and shall indemnify the Morgan Horse Breeders and Exhibitor to Rides Association and the State of California against any and all loss, damage and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth. 11. All owners and Exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage incurred by them or their agents to barns of 19th District Agriculture Association properties on the Showgrounds and will be billed accordingly Stall doors to be removed by authorized Showgrounds personnel only. 12. The Morgan Medallion Show Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse/ accept conditionally, cancel any entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, cancel classes with insufficient entries, cancel award prizes and substitute judges, without claim for damages. 13. PROTESTS. See USEF GR IMPORTANT: No entry will be accepted unless it is: a. made in writing on the ENTRY BLANK provided by the show. (1) Properly signed by (a) the owner, (b) the rider, driver or handler and (c) the trainer or by the agent(s) of such person(s). 14 Entries will be charged a non-refundable non-membership fee if copies are not enclosed. 15. There will be a $15.00 penalty for incomplete entries. This includes any and all information required on the entry blank with the exception of the trainer s signature and his/her membership numbers. These may be given at the Show Office upon arrival. Owner and rider membership numbers must be on the entry blank, or the appropriate non-member fees must be paid. Check that your entry is complete and copies of your registration papers and membership cards are attached before mailing. 16. ENTRIES CLOSE AND MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, JUNE 25, a. LATE ENTRIES - received after noon on the closing date will be charged a fee of $30.00 per horse. b. There are NO POST ENTRY FEES in Championship Classes if entered AT LEAST 2 HOURS PRIOR to the start of the class session. 17. Cancellation or Combining of Classes. Management reserves the right to cancel or consolidate classes in which there are insufficient entries. Compatible Pleasure Driving classes with less than five (5) entries in either class when entries close may be combined and worked toward one set of awards. Exhibitors in these classes will be notified. 18. Dividing of Classes. Driving classes with 20 or more entries when entries close will be divided and two sets of awards will be given. Driving classes with less than 20 entries when entries close will not be divided. If post entries increase the number of entries in these classes, they may be divided at the discretion of the judge but will be worked toward ONE set of awards. Saddle classes with 30 or more entries when entries close will be divided and two sets of awards will be given. Saddle classes with less than 30 entries will be divided at the discretion of the judge. 19. Cancellation or Substitution of Entries. Exhibitors canceling their entries for any reason after the official entry closing date shall forfeit entry and stall fees. NO FEES SHALL BE REFUNDED FOR ANY REASON. No substitution of horses will be permitted. Where exhibitors, trainers or stables wish to make a change in entries in any class, they are required to follow the procedure of scratching the existing entry and making a new entry with the Show Secretary s office. Such changes shall be treated as post entries and charged 1-1/2 times the regular fee. In the event of the sale or injury to a horse (veterinarian s certificate required), exhibitors may post enter another horse in the same classes at the rate of $5.00 per class. To be eligible, horses must be entered, shown and judged in any class of its division. A Novice Class is open to horses which have not won three (3) first-place ribbons at Regular Member Shows of the USEF or the CEF in the particular performance division in which they are shown prior to the closing of entries for this show. A Limit Class is open to horses which have not won six (6) first-place ribbons at Regular Member shows of the USEF or the CEF in the particular performance division in which they are shown prior to the closing of entries for this show. 23. USEF Amateur Certification. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for Amateur under USEF rules must possess current Amateur certification issued by the Federation. The certification, which must be renewed annually, will expire November 30 and must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with Show Secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, application for such certification provided by the Federation. Check your USEF card carefully to make sure Amateur is printed clearly on face of card. 24. All riders, drivers, handlers and attendants must be neatly attired. No attendants will be allowed to enter the ring during any performance unless neatly attired. This will be strictly enforced. 25. All JUNIORS riding in Hunter Seat Equitation Classes must wear properly fitting protective headgear while riding in the designated schooling and exercise areas and the show ring. Junior riders in all classes where jumping is required and when jumping anywhere on the Showgrounds must wear protective headgear. (Exception: Trail classes) 26. Facilities, Stabling and Availability. Arenas are 250 by 125 and footing is a combination of sand, dirt, shavings and inorganic material. Stalls are 10 x 12 and of sturdy construction, in good condition, middle split Dutch doors and weatherproof ceilings approximately 15 feet in height. Stalls will be available for exhibitors to move into at 8:00 AM Monday, July 23 rd, There will be ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING in the barn aisles. Parking for loading or unloading will NOT be allowed during any performance session. Any vehicle/trailer found in the barn aisle during any performance session will be subject to a $200 fine per violation. Any emergency loading/unloading must be cleared with show management before parking in aisle. RV/Camper units are to be parked in assigned spots only. Trailers will have specific parking areas, check with the horse show office for trailer parking instructions. NO SMOKING signs are posted throughout the barns and citations will be issued for noncompliance. 28. There will be a penalty of $ if a check is refused by the bank for any reason. No checks will be processed through the bank a second time, and must be covered by a money order, Cashiers Check or cash, in addition to the penalty. Management reserves the right to refuse or to accept personal checks from any Exhibitor to Ride who has had a check returned to the show by the bank. This Morgan Horse Show is a Golden West Morgan Council High Point show, and horses must be registered with the AMHA, stabled within the Western Region, and owners must reside within the Region s boundaries in order to receive points. 33. PRIZE MONEY will be mailed within 30 days of show. 34. Motorized Vehicle Statement: In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer)s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/ or trainer(s) from the competition in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. 35. 17 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Morgan In Hand Section Morgan In Hand Section Entries are to be judged individually, standing then at a walk and trot on the line and must be serviceably sound. Horses should stand with front legs perpendicular to the ground. Rear legs may be placed slightly back. The horse is also judged at some time during the class not stretched. Emphasis is placed on type and conformation with consideration given to horse s ability to move correctly on the lead. Unnatural tail carriage should be penalized. See MO102.4 and MO Not more than two handlers shall be allowed in the ring to show each horse in In-Hand classes. No item may be used inside or outside the ring while showing the horse except one whip per handler. (See General Rules, GR803.) Should any first or second place winner in a qualifying class not compete for the championship or be disqualified for being unsound, unruly, or not performing the class routine in the Championship Class, the horse receiving the next highest ribbon in the qualifying class shall have the option of moving up for the Champion and Reserve only. 6.
