1 HOSE COMPITION info guide 07 Welcome to the 07 oyal Queensland Show (Ekka) Horse Competition showcasing more than 5 horse breeds across the eight days of judging. The horse competition will see some of the best groomed animals at Ekka take over the Main Arena, across a variety of competitions and events. The traditional favourites will be back - thoroughbreds, stud horses, horses in action and farriers and blacksmiths - all judged by horse experts from across the country. The Horse Information Guide is back for the second year, again packed with essential competition information. Inside you ll find highlights, maps, what s new, judging information, parking details and an overview of each of our horse competitions. It is available for download at and will be regularly updated. This year we are delighted to announce a brand new timetable, as well as changes to the schedule. These changes include the introduction of new classes in Harness, Ladies, Gents, Children, Novice, Hunter and Open Hacks. These changes will ensure full participation across all classes and offer a more streamlined schedule, as well as ensuring we showcase the highest level of competition consistent with our charter. For the first time, we will invite Ekka guests onto the Main Arena on the first Sunday of show (August ) to watch the Horse Competition being judged. This has been introduced by the Horse and Arena Committee and aims to provide the general public with a greater understanding of the judging process. Last year brought to life the very first Ekka Fashions on the Field Competition, which will return again this year, presented by Jetts Fitness, due to popular demand. It will once again run in conjunction with Thoroughbred Day on August 4, which showcases the beauty and versatility of thoroughbred horses. Offering more than $0,000 in prizes, the Fashions on the Field competition is similar to ones held at race days across the country. The Ekka is delighted to be celebrating a remarkable milestone this year - its 40th anniversary. From the very first show in 876, the Ekka has been bringing the country and city together to celebrate and champion agriculture and the critical role it plays in our everyday lives. The Ekka is all about showcasing the best of the best our state has to offer and this competition continues to highlight the world-class horsemen and women in Queensland. I look forward to seeing you all at the 07 oyal Queensland Show. Ian Ferguson ingmaster
