They are 7-9 times more accurate than any other measurement. We have printed calf projected EPDs for our bred heifers. This is still the best estimate we have until the calf is born and their official EPDs can be recorded. BW, WW, YW: Birth, Weaning and Yearling Weight EPDs predict the difference in the average weight of an animal s calves compared to calves of other animals in the breed. The higher the EPD, the heavier his calves will weigh comparatively. TM (Total Maternal): This EPD measures the total pounds of weaning weight expected in the bull s daughter s calves due to the animal s contribution of genetics for growth and milking ability. The higher the EPD, the heavier the calves are expected to be. MILK: Maternal Milk EPD measures pounds of weaning weight expected in progeny of daughters due to genes for milking ability transmitted by the animal. The higher the EPD, the more milking ability the cow is expected to have. We strive to select cattle that are in the middle of the breed (20%-80%) to maintain more fleshing ability and improved reproductive efficiency. We believe this will improve your profits by increasing your pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed. In very lush environments, more milk is acceptable. STAY: Stayability EPD measures the probability of daughters staying in your herd to at least the age of six years. Since cows are usually only culled for being open before the age of six, this EPD is primarily a measure of sustained fertility in female offspring. Ratios: In herd comparisons between animals in a contemporary group (all the same sex, age and are treated the same). The average ratio is always 100, so a heifer that ratios 105, weighed 5% heavier than the average animal in that group. A ratio of 97 means she was 3% lighter than the group. Carcass EPDs: The higher the EPD, the more marbling (MRBL) or ribeye area () the bull will produce in his offspring. Carcass EPDs are becoming more important all the time. Ultrasound Carcass EPDs: Ultrasound is the most effective way to measure the genetic merit of seedstock in the industry today. Shamrock Nook Red Angus 1

The Brown s argued in length on L6724 s behalf, stating the fact their farm has regularly topped 9.0+ with their Black Angus progeny.
