3 Dan Carr is designing and installing all arenas at Meadow Wood questrian Center George Morris and Gladstone Clinic Participants Impressed by WestWind Surfaces Footing at Hamilton Farm Gladstone, NJ - June 2, After an unpredictable week full of crazy weather, riding challenges and course changes, one thing remained consistent during the UST Foundation s Gladstone Program: the footing. In January, Dan Carr and Westwind Surfaces re-engineered the arenas at Hamilton Farm, installing their state-of-the-art footing and giving the 99-year-old historic farm a facelift in time for the clinic. The world-class footing received compliments from riders and spectators alike, and many stopped to pick up and feel the footing for themselves. WestWind Surfaces even solicited words of approval from highly revered horseman and former United States Show Jumping Chef d quipe George Morris. I thought the footing was excellent, Morris said. It had good grip; it had a good cushion. A+ footing, A+. veryone talked about it all week. Despite the weather fluctuations, the footing held up through the rain and hours of riding every day, maintaining immaculate condition for the riders to jump a full course on the last day. WestWind Surfaces revamped the arena at Hamilton Farm Clinic participant Kate Mulligan liked the footing so much that she plans to install it on her own farm. The footing certainly suited the Gladstone Program riders, Mulligan attested. We had two groups riding for up to two hours each, and it really held up well. Sophie Verges, another rider, agreed, saying, The footing held up very well throughout the week, and all of the horses jumped beautifully on it. I was really impressed by how consistent it was, despite the fact that we went from having cold, rainy weather to it being sunny and 80 degrees by the last day of the clinic. It was clear that the high-quality footing was an athlete favorite at the 2015 Gladstone Program, and the product earned the approval of everyone in attendance, including the horses. You can tell it is good footing when you are standing on it for hours and your feet don t hurt, Taylor Harris, a third rider, added. All of the horses jumped really well, and I know Ken, my horse, was happy at Gladstone. George Morris and the Gladstone Program riders loved the footing. 4 Dan Carr is designing and installing all arenas at Meadow Wood questrian Center Gold Medalist Ben Maher Raves About WestWind Surfaces Wellington, FL - April 3, Olympian Ben Maher is thrilled with the footing provided by Dan Carr and the team at WestWind Surfaces. I want to thank Dan Carr s WestWind Surfaces for providing us with the best custom footing there is, said Maher. (The team at WestWind Surfaces) make it possible for us to work in any weather condition with the perfect amount of cushion and support for my horses. We can t thank them enough for always keeping us going and making sure we get to the ring healthy. Maher was a member of the 2012 British gold medal show jumping squad and has been one of the most consistent performers on the international circuit. He most recently won the $372,000 World Cup Qualifier CSI-W5* at the Winter questrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. Maher is one of many top riders in equestrian sport who are discovering the WestWind Surfaces difference. The careful planning and completion of every project by Carr and his team mean that every project is tailored to suit the unique challenges and Ben Maher and Diva II $372,000 World Cup Qualifier CSI-W5* at the Winter questrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. Grand Prix Rider Nick Dello Joio and Olympian Norman Dello Joio Thrilled With WestWind Surfaces Wellington, FL - May 1, Grand Prix Rider Nick Dello Joio, and his father, Olympic Medalist Norman Dello Joio agree that quality footing is a necessity. The Dello Joios rely on WestWind Surfaces to provide expert advice, planning, construction and maintenance of their facility. Nick and Norman Dello Joio discussing a course at the Winter questrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. Photo by Kenneth Kraus. Norman Dello Joio achieved incredible success throughout his three-decade riding career. Winner of virtually every major grand prix in the U.S., he is best known for two major international titles--the 1983 FI World Cup Final in Vienna, Austria, which he won aboard the French stallion I Love You, and the Individual Olympic Bronze Medal with Irish at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. I Love You was recently inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame. Nick Dello Joio, burst onto the scene in 2009 with back-to-back grand prix wins at the Atlanta Fall Classic aboard Malcolm. In 2010, the younger Dello Joio was awarded the Maxine Beard Show Jumping Developing Rider Award. Most recently he had quite a successful season at the Winter questrian Festival in Wellington, FL, winning the coveted $34,000 Ruby et Violette WF Challenge Cup Round 10 aboard Contiki, a 9-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding. Norman Dello Joio on Malcolm at the American Gold Cup. Photo by Kenneth Kraus. Dan Carr and his team have done an amazing job from day one, said Nick Dello Joio. We have a grass Grand Prix field and a sand ring that are heavily used in all conditions and they sustain use very well. WestWind Surfaces built and maintains the Grand Prix field & sand arena at the Dello Joios facility, and plans are in the works to do a reconstruction of the sand arena next year. I m very, very happy with the footing. It s light, it s got a lot of bounce to it and the horses really seem to like riding on it, said Norman Dello Joio. The good thing about Dan [Carr] is that he understands horses, and he adjusts accordingly to how people like their footing. What works for one person might not work for another person and he has the knowledge to be able to tweak [the footing blend] to make people happy.
