3 3 PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE June, 2010 Our Presidents are all out playing so no message this month. Donna promised some notes from their trip to Detroit for a future message. May Meeting Bob s Burgers & Brew May 22nd The May meeting started out with a bang when George Anderson fell on the way in. An aid car took him to a medical facility where they stitched him up and he went home to recover. That put a bit of a damper on the rest of the meeting. The rest of the attendees decided to keep it short and simple, have their lunch, and pass on the business end of things. No minutes were taken and prizes were saved for our next meeting (in September). Special thanks to Jerry & Patty Wrolstad for taking care of getting George s car back to him. Swap Meet Results Monroe Fairgrounds Saturday & Sunday, May 15 & 16 Our club had a booth in the 600 building selling a variety of parts. Jim Young donated a new banner for the club which is greatly appreciated. Jerry Wrolstad, or Ray Moore and others staffed the booth. Interest seems to have dropped off with fewer parts and less activity than in previous years. We need to discuss the purpose(s) for having the booth and reconsider the interest before committing to the booth again next year.

5 5 Teardrop Tour Saturday, July 3rd Thanks to Randy Moore for kicking this off. For the 9th year, Ken & Marty Masden have invited owners of Teardrop campers to their place in Carnation for a 5 day campout. If last yeart is any indication, there will be more than 30 of the little trailers on their 5 acres. Ken and Marty have a collection of 1936 cars as well as a variety of Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles. There are activities for the campers each day with tours in the area, a pancake breakfast and parade in Carnation on the 4th followed by a potluck, a trip to the Triple X in Issaquah on one of the days, rides for kids, lots of fun stuff for all ages. We are invited to join them on Saturday, the 3rd, to see the trailers and take a tour through the valley. We will meet in the Home Depot parking lot (space there for trailers) at NE 76th, Redmond. Meet about 9:a.m. There is a Starbucks next to the Home Depot if you need your morning kick. At 9:30 we will take off wandering back roads up to Ken and Marty s home outside of Carnation. We will then join their tour of vintage cars around the valley with a stop at the Snoqualmie Casino for lunch. After lunch we will go back to the Masden home to check out the trailers and then head back to Redmond. If you have a vintage camper (Teardrop preferred) call Randy Moore at (425) for more information about the 5 day campout. I ll lead the tour to and from Redmond, feel free to give me a call if you will be able to attend. Walt Berdan (425) (425) (cell)
6 6 And The Winners Are: Bob Allen and Gary Ward Bob Allen and childhood buddy Gary Ward took the honors for the recent Memorial Day speedster fun run. Normally this run is a timed 200 mile endurance run that is supposed to be lower key and more fun than competitive than the Northwest Vintage Speedsters Labor Day endurance run. The Spokane Model T club, lead by the Baker and Patterson families hosted this run and decided to make it more fun and eliminate the timing component so folks would more easily be able to enjoy the scenery as they wandered the wheat fields, vineyards, and wind farms in the Tri-Cities to Sunnyside area. To find a winner, they turned it into a poker run with the best 5 card hand taking the winners flag. Bob and Gary took it away with 2 pair (Kings and 8s). It was an excellent weekend with fellow speedster folks. Plenty of time to visit, pleasant countryside, and it even stayed dry (for the most part). The Spokane crew did a fine job putting on the event with plenty of good food, warm camaraderie, and just an all around good time. Other entrants from our Puget Sound club were: Walt & Mary Berdan, Jim & Patti Cunningham, Morris and son Doug James, Ray & Nancy Moore, Paul Murray with Don Chidgey, Darrell & Jeannine Pitts, and Charles Reichlin. Familiar faces of Reny Santiago and his kids attended as well. This weekend was a fine kickoff to summer fun and has us all looking forward to more tours and especially Chasing The Chicken in Auburn over the Labor Day weekend.
