4 Meeting Minutes Martin Sports Car Club, General Meeting October 4 th, 2018 Patio Grill, Sanford, FL Meeting Called to Order at 7:30pm by Bob Blucher Pit Patters rec d YES? I hope so Minutes Approval Approved! Zane Plumley Zane has stepped down as president to accept a job in Nashville, TN Zane only likes Ben The board appointed Bob Blucher to serve as president until the election tonight, results below Zane It s not about the racing, it s about the members of the club. The Election: Victoria Edstrom nominated Bob Blucher There were no additional nominations, Bob was voted in as President by majority vote All hail the new exalted leader of Martin Sports Car Club, Mr. Robert Blucher VP Report - Nate Adair There were no safety issues at the previous event Secretary - Erik Mayer Did everyone sign the roster? No, but we fixed it Erik from the future reports that we fixed it in the future Treasurer - Ben Turner Club is in the BLACK!! Events Director Report - Mikael Edstrom 106 drivers, 37 more than last year, and 44 more than the average Fast flowing course Food Provided by Smoke in the city. Was late, truck problem. Showed up end of 1st heat. 5 runs, 3 heats, 24 classes, 4 one car classes, 6 classes with 5 or more drivers; 23 novices, quite a few first timers TTD set by Mr. Fast himself, Ryan Speaks 3rd heat timing stop due to input error ~10 minutes to fix 10:08 Start - Novice walkthrough was very long---lots of novices. Trevor Wells drove Olivia's Kart. Going to be expensive for Chris. VERY Hot day, Juney and Erik felt the heat with a hot performance on the mic for the last heat. Struggled for instructors. President - Bob Blucher Upcoming events: October 14 LTC November 10 STATE The FIRM booked 11/11 December 1 Annual Awards Banquet at The Bella Room (so fancy) December 9 LTC Pointless All 2019 Events are booked LTC, and Mother s Day is on Mother s Day Need meeting locations for 2019 Patio Grill, Perkins in Apopka, need a third location for rotation 310 Nona recommended by Stephanie McDonald Old Business: Equipment Update Thanks to the work of Mikael for purchasing, and Nate to program the new radios, the club now has 18 functioning radios! We need to order new lithium batteries for the new radios, cost is minimal

5 Meeting Minutes Trailer Update We have our new trailer!!! Mikael, Ben, and Mickey picked it up on October 4th The outlets that were not reconfigured to our requested locations from the original plan The company installed a box for us on-site Juney is hooking us up with logos from Fast Signs, logos will only be installed on the flat surfaces without rivets to eliminate the possibility of damage to the logos from water infiltration; installation week ending 10/13 Thanks to Kevin for picking up the Herculiner for the floor from Lowe s in Winter Garden on his way to the General Meeting NO SITTING ON THE NEW TABLES!!! Fire Extinguishers Fire Extinguishers are from 2006, and supposed to be re-tested every 5 years Mickey found a place that can do it for $100 each to refurbish the old ones, plus $350 for a new CO2 Motion to pay to refurbish fire extinguishers for $500 approved by majority vote Motion to purchase 6th CO2 fire extinguisher for $350 approved by majority vote Pete Porpora offered to loan us his 15lb for the event at The FIRM Fire Extinguisher cart is going away, Mickey is making new station carts, all-in-one station solutions Cones Lakeside Plastics $5.60 each + freight 500+ $4.75 each delivered, pricing when ordered in lots of 500 and shipped at one time to one location is $2375 total for 500 cones Logo on the cones? Hell yes logo on the cones! Motion to approve purchase of new cones not to exceed $2400 passed by majority vote Motion to approve $275 MSCC logo on the cones passed by majority vote New Business 2019 Rule Change Submissions are due by the start of the November General Meeting Please type up any proposals and send to Nate Adair Stephanie McDonald has a suggestion to clean the loaner helmets, and volunteered to do so Member Stories Karel went to the Chin Motorsports event at Barber Motorsports Park in September, and had a BLAST! 6 2019 Volunteer Positions Volunteer positions available for members, these positions also accrue extra member points. For more information about volunteer positions, don t hesitate to ask a board member. Chief of Tech* Heads tech inspection at each event. Must be up to date on all classing rules and have extensive car knowledge. Position is subject to MSCC Executive Board approval. Trophies* Transports trophies to and from every event, and handles trophy presentation and distribution after events. Medic* CPR and First Aid certified. Waivers* Arrives at events no later than 7AM works waiver sign in at the gate until the first run heat starts. Novice Instructor* Conducts novice walkthrough and provides instruction during events. Position is subject to MSCC Executive Board approval. Pit Patter Editor Responsible for creating the monthly Pit Patter for the club. Assists with the printing and distribution. *Must be present at every event, position will count as your work assignment.

26 Race Report BY Juney Thompson Ah, October. A time when everything becomes injected with pumpkin. Children disguise themselves and go around threatening people for candy. The wonderful state of Florida has a day that doesn t reach 90 degrees. Spooky times, indeed. What s more spooky than that?! This here Race Report! Our October event was the final event before the upcoming 45 th Annual FLORIDA STATE CHAMPION- SHIP, which will take place November 11th at the FIRM in Starke! As it just so happens, the State Champs will also be the final points paying event of the Martin season! So, the October event was an opportunity to fine tune the setup on the car, see where the competition stacks up, and plot how you re going to sabotage everybody! For this October event, the course layout was designed by our very own King of England, Mr. Ian Collins! It was an interesting and fun design, featuring a large counter-clockwise double loop a personal favorite. Due to said loop, drifting was plentiful. From everyone I talked to, the course provided a different kind of challenge depending on what you drove. Multiple boosted-car drivers remarked how they found it hard to stay in boost. The big honkin RWD folks found the tight second half of the course difficult to put power down. Overall, I feel it was just what we needed to shake things up going into the final event! Final results were a bit outside of the norm for this season. Out of the Top 20 in raw time, 10 spots were held by some sort of Miata, including all three podium positions! That doesn t sound too irregular, until you see that 3 of those Top 20 Miatas were ES cars we haven t had that many ES cars in the Top 20 all season. So big power and mechanical grip were not necessarily the end-all be-all this day. Quick run-through of in-class battles, as well as notable notes: No love bugs! A-a-ron Stogsdill won AS over Don Hosler and his Vega? 2017 Tiger Champ George Bonafede was not in attendance. And with that absence being his 3 rd of the season, it is now certain we will be crowning a new Tiger Champion this year! John Walsh and his 2017 Focus RS won BS over Zac Saubert by a mere seconds!! Chris Wells won a very tight and fast ES class. Chris defeated Scott Swartz and Steve Pierce by and 0.302, respectively. All three drivers made the Top 20 in raw time! Smoke in the City served food that makes you happy. I had the loaded Mac N Cheese. I regret nothing. Bob Blucher put a hurtin on the STR guys. Very respectful of them to let the new Club President win. The world held their breath as two Pontiac G8 s engaged in a titanic battle. Remember that scene in Troy where Hector and Achilles s cousin (who they thought was Achilles) square off and all of the other soldiers stop and watch them? It was like that. Speaking of movies, remember that early scene in Gladiator where the big Germanic nomad leader gets taken down by the Romans, but it takes like three of them to do it? That s what happened to Ryan Speaks, who was NOT the fastest man in the world this time! The fastest man of the day was Mr. Robert Palmblad, who captured his first TTD trophy this season! Shoutout to Adam Severinsen for bagging 5 th in raw time with his Little Golf That Could! Mighty fine performance! Also shoutout to Leland Giddens for showing up in a brand new, stock 2018 Camaro SS (down to the OEM tires), and finishing 6 th in raw time 6 th!! What?! So now we turn our attention to the 2018 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP next month! It will be the decider for all of our class championships, as well as our overall 2018 Tiger Champion! What makes it especially interesting is everyone will accumulate points, including any hotshoes from outside our normal area. It certainly won t put them in contention for any championships, but it certainly could take away from other Martin member s points if they have an off day. Plus, I m sure some folks would love to take down as many Martin members as possible. We can t let that happen, people! Remember that scene in 300 where the Spartans put the absolute smackdown on the Persians time and time again? Let s do that but let s not get shot up by arrows in the end.
