3 GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes July 15, 2015 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Forty-two members were in attendance. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS The Club welcomed: Matt Hetzel owner of a victory red 1975 Stingray and 1984 base red. Phil and Donna Parker owners of a Monterey red 2006 convertible. Joe Wilson a former member of GDCC. Freddie thanked Mike and Barb George for arranging the dinner out to Valley Vineyards on July 12. Member turnout and food were great. She said that fourteen Corvettes were part of the Centerville Americana parade on July 4. SECRETARY S REPORT Tom Murph moved the minutes from the June meeting be accepted as written. Seconded by Bob Haugh. TREASURER S REPORT Herbie Smith provided the report. He also sent a donation to the Ataxia Foundation in Kitty Moorhead s son-inlaw, Dan West, memory and flowers to Carol Miller for her recent knee surgery. VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT Dave First called for the following committee reports: SOCIAL: Freddie recapped the following: July 18-19: Boris Tirpack racing at Mid-Ohio. July 19: Dayton Dragon s game with GDCC Corvettes on display. Members planning to attend are requested to arrive between 12:30 12:45 p.m. Enter off Monument Street where the large baseballs are. Freddie will be stay with the Corvettes during the game. August 1: Progressive dinner. Appetizers will be at the home of Jerry and Jill Schlatter starting at 4:00 p.m. Soup and salad at the home of Russ and Gail Hodge. Tom and Star Brooks will host the main course and plan to have pulled pork and chicken form Oink a Doodle. Desserts will be at the home of Rob and Peggy DeLorenzo. A sign-up sheet was passed around for members to bring a covered dish for the different stops. August 8: One day trip to AuburnCordDusenberg Auto Museum in Auburn IN. Dave and Jill First are hosting this event. Those planning on making the three hour trip should meet at the Kroger s on Northwood Boulevard. Be sure you have gas (gas station at Kroger s). Dave plans to leave at

4 8:15 a.m. A pit stop will be made along the way. Lunch is planned for the Town Tavern before the Museum tour. Cost is $12.50 per person or $10.50 if 12 or more people attend. Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Let Dave know, if you plan to make the trip. August 15: Fifteenth Fort Thomas Corvette cruise-in to benefit Cancer Research. Twenty dollar donation per car. Open to all types of vehicles. Bob Haugh will lead a caravan. More information to follow. August 22: Pontoon adventure and dinner out hosted by Dean and Carol Tavener. Captain s Point restaurant is permanently closed. Dean and Carol are checking out restaurants in Bellefontaine which is fifteen minutes from Indian Lake. Dinner will happen after the three hour pontoon ride. More information to follow. September 3-5: Twenty-first Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction at the National Corvette Museum. See the NCM website for a list of activities. September 7: Kettering Holiday at Home Parade. Freddie has not received any information at this time. September 13: Corvette gathering in Lancaster. September 17-20: Mid-American Motorworks Funfest, Effingham IL. September 19: Kentucky Speedway Laps for Charity. Cost is $40.00 for five laps. Bob Sledge will provide more information. September 25-27: Route 66 Festival, Springfield IL. MEMBERSHIP: Carol reported that as of this evening we have 115 members. Carol and Bob Haugh are looking into the cost for magnetic name tags that will be offered to club members. Voting on obtaining name tags was tabled until the August meeting. PUBLIC RELATIONS Bob Sledge stated that we have 187 likes on Facebook. If anyone has pictures from the Centerville Americana parade, please forward to Bob. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER Mike Jones had nothing to report. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR No report PRESIDENT S REPORT: Freddie received an invitation from Life Enrichment for our club to participate in a car show at Cypress Pointe Health Center, 600 West National Road, Englewood OH. The car show is August 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

5 Freddie received a request from West Carrolton soccer team for GDCC to provide a Corvette back drop for their pictures on August 7. Old Business The 13 th Annual Beavercreek Baptist Church, 3511 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek OH originally scheduled for June 20 was rescheduled (because of rain) to Saturday, July 18 from 9:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m. Dean Tavener said that nineteen cars were scheduled to go to the inaugural Bloomington Gold in Indianapolis IN on June 27. However, because of rain many members cancelled on Friday evening. Dean made the decision to cancel the trip all together. Judy Smith said that the Club made $ for the cruise-in at Giovanni s in June. The D.J. was paid $ She and Herbie met with Tony and Tony agreed to absorb the cost, thereby allowing $ to be used for our charities. She has T-shirts from the cruise-in available for $ New Business Debby Vanscoy stated that she was approached by a person in Springfield about GDCC hanging a banner that supports veterans. The banner would be hung along Cliff Park Road and Fountain Avenue and would cost the Club $ Freddie said that she provided the information to E-Board members for their assessment. This topic will be addressed at the August meeting. George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Matt Hetzel: $ Tom Murph moved the meeting adjourn; seconded by Pat Frymyer.
