BOX 2012 COTTONWOOD, AZ The show this year was a success as far as exhibitors and weather but the gate receipts were down, maybe the weather was too good and people did other outdoor activities. I want to thank everyone who came and displayed their engines and tractors. Spectators come to see the engines and tractors and other activities. The more we have the better received it is. I also want to thank everyone who volunteered in setting the show up, working during the show and the teardown afterwards. As show chairman I appreciate that and it makes my job a lot easier when I know we will have the volunteers to do the work. Thanks again. Jim Mager after being president for 15 plus years has decided to step down at the end of the elected year. Thank you Jim for all your efforts and leadership during these past years.,i know you have given a lot of your time to make this club a continuing success. As Vice President I am willing to stand for the presidents position. This will leave the Vice Presidents position open. Hopefully someone will step up and volunteer to be the vice president. For my self being a officer of the club has been very fulfilling and enjoyable. I don't take it as work but instead an enjoyable use of my time to promote various functions of the club and promoting our activities. Please consider this opportunity to be an officer of the club. 2 ARIZONA FLYWHEELERS NEWSLETTER April 2017 page 2 Meeting minutes Meeting called to order at 7 AM by President Mager. Minutes were read with the correction that it was the web site which had been updated. The treasurer s report from Joan Miller. As of February 1st we have a balance of $7, Vice President Gary Covert stated on February 23rd at 2pm there will be a TV promo set up at Gene De Camp s. President Mager will notify Red Rock News and we need our insurance certificate. Rich Lahti will take care of kiddy tractor pull in lieu of Steve Fielder. A regular tractor pull will take place from 10-11:30 AM and again from 2 PM -4 PM both days. The tractor parade will take place on Saturday. We will order 60 dinners with a donation of $10 to the members and exhibitors, the club will absorb the remainder. The show will be in the honor of Don Robinson. Beat the Heat is July 29th & 30th in Flagstaff. President Mager who has been our president for 15 years will step down for health reasons Gary Covert was suggested as the new president and Rich Lahti will be the vice president. Richard Lahti informed the club regarding a telephone scam going on. Janet Hall requested an outside sign for the flea market. The Sahuaro Ranch show is scheduled for February 11th. Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 AM March 1, 2017 Meeting called to order by President Jim Mager at 7 AM. Minutes were read with the correction that attendees will be charged $10 for the annual dinner rather than members. The finance report from Joan Miller. As of March 1st we have a balance of $ Rose will cater the dinners. Money for the show events will be given to the chairman and it was requested that the chairmen state the denominations desired. VP Gary Covert stated the volunteer sign up sheet is being passed around. He stated that ACE Hardware is making a donation of a gift card at the dinner. Shirts are available. The programs are in the process of being printed. Carol Miller has the Chamber of Commerce flyers. Richard Lahti will provide a picture of Don Robinson for the banner. Also the television promo turned out well. The Apache Jct show is next weekend. The Pine show is May 20th. Jack Castimore said the Sahuaro show was excellent and he had a good time. Don Meakin will hold a auction in Flagstaff May 12th - 13th & 14th. Rich Lahti declined being Vice President, he would rather just do the news letter, alas we need to nominate a Vice President before September. Announced that Gene De Camp is doing well. Gary Covert will find out about the Award Buckles for the Verde Valley Fair. Meeting 7:30 AM February 1, 2017

Apache Junction Show, March 2017 If anyone complained about the show in Apache Junction, that would be the same person that would complain about being hung with a new rope.

I think Henry would be hard pressed to tell his Model T s from Rolls Royce s and so many were present, just beautiful old cars.

A couple asked me how the silent auction was run, I said it goes like this: some years ago a man and his wife was viewing the silent auction and the husband exclaimed with a loud voice wow!

This gift card was included in a drawing at our Friday night dinner and was presented to Gene DeCamp the lucky winner. Thanks to Verde Valley Hardware for supporting the Flywheelers. This was the best show we had in years and the weather was ideal, the President said to bring out your engines and out they came: rare, common, big and small, all chugging away. Not to be out done by the engine and car folks, the tractor collectors met the challenge and cleaned out their barns with anything that would run. Look at that, his wife asked what is it? He replied, I m not sure, but I m going to buy it, besides I can double my money on it. So he buys it, takes it home and puts it on his shelf for a number of years. Then he decides to put it on bob s auction and sells it. His wife asked him, honey did you make money on it, and his reply enough to take you out to dinner. She nods her head and gives him a big smile. What he doesn t say is that dinner is going to a hamburger. So it goes. The lawnmower race cars are exciting and fast but not as fast as the date for the next year s show. Until then, stay healthy and keep those wheels turning, Oh yes on more thing, save money for next year s silent auction.
