2 Hey Cowtown Members, Summer is over, or so says the calendar, and that means the show season is winding down. In September Cowtown Mopars had an awesome turnout at the Dallas Mopar Mini Nats Labor Day weekend. We had 22 cars that came away with 17 awards and we had 8 vendors in the swap area. What a showing by Cowtown Mopars! Congratulations for supporting the Dallas Club, I'm very proud of you all! Also CONGRATULATIONS to the Dallas Mopar Club for another GREAT show! In September we also went back to the race track to continue racking up points. We had a great turnout at Rusk and Kennedale. I'm sure we will get the results soon. Our next race will be at the MotorPlex in Ennis October 24th. If we win that race it will give us 5 wins in a row at Ennis and another badge on the roving plaque. I hope to see another BIG showing by Cowtown Mopars so we can continue our winning ways. I hope a bunch of you were able to take your Mopars to the Texas State Fair September 26th. Also the Houston Mopar Show or the Good Guys show the first weekend in October. These are some of the last shows of the year. I also hope you have a chance to enjoy your cars as the weather cools a little. A GREAT opportunity to get your car out will be October 9th at Gene's. Instead of meeting at Scotty's in October we will meet at Gene's for a Cajun cookout and scavenger hunt. Bring some Cajun cooking and be ready to eat and scavenge or scavenge and eat. The most important thing is for you to be there and have a good time. We have some of the details worked out for the Toy Drive in early Decem- ber at Huffines and the Christmas party at Billy Bob's December the 19th. More details later. GO COWTOWN MOPARS!!! See Ya Soon! Beep Beep! Mark Buchanan Cowtown Mopars President The past month have been pretty uneventful... I still have all of my limbs so everything is going just dandy! We had 2 great days at the race track. We resumed the racing season at the new track in Rusk, Cherokee County Motorsports Park. This is a very nice track and is in one of the prettiest parts of the state. It is a long drive down there, but well worth the trip. The track is located out in the sticks... literally! It is surrounded by huge pine trees and is one of the most isolated tracks I have ever been to. Once again we had many racers go several rounds and yours truly making it to the final round where transmission problems caused me to have to settle for runner up. At the next race at Texas Raceway, we made a lot more points, had 2 class winners, Joe Smith in Electronics, who was racing for the club and Chuck Buchanan in Stock Muscle. Everyone needs to come to Gene Quick Motorsports on October 9 for the clubs first scavenger hunt. Gary Bradshaw has been putting it together and we really don't know how it will turn out but it should be a lot of fun! Everyone is being asked to bring a covered dish and Cajun food is the theme... from what I am hearing there will be plenty of red beans and rice to eat! I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our first international member to the club. Andrew Pana has been made an honorary mem- Page 2 ber for being the first from outside of the US to apply for membership. He lives in Strathfield South Australia. He also sent me 2 CD's that are FULL of photos from some of the car shows they have had down there. There are a lot of familiar and some not so familiar Mopars included. I can honestly say that they have some very nice cars!!! -Mike Miller, Vice President The September 19th general membership meeting was held at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth. President Mark Buchannan called the meeting to order at 5:25 pm with the recognition of guests and new members. He went on to discuss the results of the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenges held in Rusk and Kennedale. President Brad Buttermore of the Dallas club stated in an to President Buchannan that he was very thankful and appreciative for the representation by the Cowtown club at the recent Dallas MoPar Mini-Nats in Garland. Other car show winners were Charles Jahnson - 3rd place in e-body stock at the Monster Mopars held at St. Louis, he also won 3rd place e-body stock at the recent Louisiana Mopar Nationals, Ken Angyal won 1st place Dakota class also at the Louisiana Mopars Nationals. President Buchannan reviewed the upcoming events for October and November. New patriotic t-shirts hopefully will be ready for next month's meeting. The October cruise nite location has been changed from Scotty's to Gene Quick Motorsports. A Cajun cuisine will be the month's theme. The car of the month plaque was awarded. The 50/50 pot was won by Ron Carroll. Various door prizes were also awarded to the membership. The meeting was adjourned at 6:35 pm. - Ken Angyal, sec

The race team page is still in the planning stage and with the CD's we received from our newest member from Australia I am going to build a page to showcase some of their cars. I was thinking about the upcoming Nostalgia Super Stock Race at Denton Dragway, Friday Oct. 22nd. A large field of cars are expected and Max Wedge Mopars make up 80% of the field! BE THERE!!! Now to business at hand. Our very active Club is doing good on all fronts. The Show Folks WOW have they ever represented us all very well... and of course, the Race Team. All I can say is thanks to so many for the TEAM SUPPORT! Recent strong showing at Rusk and Kennedale put the Cowtown Team in a good spot to Three-peat the Championship. Our next race is Sunday,Oct. 24th at the Texas Motor- Plex. The final Muscle Car Club Challenge Race will be at Red Line Raceway in Caddo Mills Oct 31st. 4 Page 4 Dave Maxon s 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport I bought my little green truck new in San Antonio one day before a 2000 mile trip to Seattle. It came equipped with just pretty much the basics, 3.9 L V6 engine, automatic transmission, AM/ FM Cassette Radio, and Air Conditioning. The trip to Seattle convinced me it needed a little more performance in spite of a speeding ticket near Lubbock on the way. Once I arrived in Seattle I added a 3 Cat-back exhaust with DynoMax Turbo Muffler, and a Jet Performance Stage II Performance Chip. That helped a little but once I finally managed to make my way to a new position here in Fort Worth 8 months later, I decided I wanted to go racing and wanted MORE POWER! Besides, nobody else was racing V-6 trucks and I felt there was some untapped potential here still. Well, I discovered there isn t a lot of performance parts available for V6 Dakota s, but a few V8 parts work. So, over the last couple of years, I ve added a 48mm F& B Billet Throttle body, 1.7 Crower Roller Rockers, pushrods and guides, Jacob s Pro Street Ignition, ASP Custom 2800 Stall Converter, TransGo Shift Kit, JBA Ceramic Coated Headers, 4.10 US Gears, a PowerTrax No-Slip Differential and Mickey Thompson 11.5X15X 28 ET Streets. Oh yeah, a Nitrous Express EFI kit and a Jacobs Nitrous Controller. All that managed to gain me about 2.5 seconds in the 1/8th and about 3 seconds in 1/4 mile.
