3 Well I can't believe it but it's almost time for another Cowtown Mopar Christmas Party!!!! Yay!!!!! This is when we recognize numerous club members for supporting Cowtown Mopar during We also eat Mexican food and steal from one another. It's fun!! If you have been in years past you know what I'm talking about and if you haven't please join us this year. Susan will have all the details and I will say this. Join us and you will have a great time. Be sure to bring a gift for the white elephant gift exchange. See ya there!! January will take us back to Spring Creek BBQ on the third Sunday as usual. I hope to see you there as well. Last but not least we had our annual Toy Drive/car show. We collected money, toys and had a few brave members bring their Mopars out in the rain and cold. We will also be collecting toys and money at the Christmas Party if you were unable to join us this past weekend at Allen Samuels. 6 Off The Wing by Barry Hansen Alas, another racing season is over. Now comes the long cold winter. Except we won't have to put up with endless reruns of NASCAR races and diesel truck racing from France because mercifully Speed TV channel was cancelled. I hope you got to participate in or see some of the great racing this season. I had a ball going to several of the MuscleCar Challenge races and eating all that great food. The weather was perfect for the O'Reilly Fall Nat's at the MotorPlex even if results on the track were less than desirable. NHRA Toyota Nat s in Las Vegas, NV, Antron Brown T/F, V Gaines Pro Stock runner up. AAA Finals in Pomona, CA, Matt Hagan F/C, Allen Johnson Pro Stock runner up. It s all over but the wailing and gnashing of teeth report: Cowtown Mopars MuscleCar Champions once again. Well done, well done. NHRA World Championship: Antron Brown T/F runner up, Spencer Massey 4 th, Tony Schumacher 7 th. Matt Hagan F/C runner up, Fast Jack Beckman 3 rd, Ron Capps 6 th. Jeg Coughlin Pro Stock Champ, Allen Johnson runner up. Mopar pretty much owned drag racing this year. NHRA, MuscleCar Challenge, etc. Next season I look for more of the same with the addition of the Viper Team doing much better in American Le Mans and the 600 hp all wheel drive Dart taking no prisoners in the X Games and the Red Bull Racing Series. The Daytona project. Don t ask. It s been wet, it s been cold, I ve got lots of excuses, wish at least one of them was a good one. My, oh my, what a good time at the November club meeting. Lots of good food and a great movie. And the desserts; the pineapple upside down cake was the best, no wait, the lemon cake was the best, no wait, the chocolate-mint-orange chip brownies were the best. I can t decide, they were all blue ribbon winners and stayed that way after my second helping. I vote we do that all the time. And what a movie, Snake and Mongoose. The wife even liked it, says it was better than Heart Like a Wheel. I will stick with Heart but Snake was right up there. Loved the old racing footage. Not sayin I m old but I remember when they were actually touring and the magazine covers they showed were brand new on the stands. Hope it comes to the theaters again and cannot wait for it to come out on DVD. Like the often advertised insulated see-through tumbler (a bargain at only $12.98 plus $4.98 shipping and handling) has embossed on it, Remember the Reason for the Season and don t let all this crass commercialism ruin what Christmas is all about. I hope you were like me and refused to go out and shop on Thanksgiving Day, up to now the only holiday day that had not been ruined by greedy companies trying to suck up every dollar up they can get. Jingle bells, jingle bells, Mopar all the way.
