3 Well as we bring this year to a close what can I say it s been a great year. We ve watched one of the greatest racers in NASCAR retire, Mother Mopar release what I think is one of the baddest cars on the planet, and our race team win the TMCCC for the 14th time in a row. But of everything that has happened both good and bad, the moments I remember most all happened with my friends and my family. For that I am truly thankful. Earlier this year I was asked if I would consider stepping in as president when Mike needed to step down for personal reasons. The last couple of weeks I have really reflected on that. I was very humbled about being asked and at first was not going to accept the position but I am truly happy I did. This club, this group of friends and family, is truly one of the greatest groups of people I have ever been a part of. I have received so much support from you the members and for that I am really thankful. I want to take this moment and thank all of the board members and club members for your part in making this club great. With elections coming up I want to encourage any of you who have thought about running for a position to do so and if you have an idea please let us know. Ideas spur change and change spurs growth. Enough of the mushy stuff, this is supposed to be about car stuff. Thank you everyone who attended the toy drive and car show this year. I think it was pretty successful. Not only did we fill up a Durango full of toys but we also had $610 in donations and another $79 from the 50/50 pot all of which will be going to the Salvation Army to help those in need this holiday season. This year was the 1st time I was able to make it out and it was a great time. The weather cooperated nicely and there were some killer cars that made it out. Definitely one of my highlights for the year. I look forward to seeing all of you at the Christmas party this year and hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season. 4 From The Veep s Desk Well, first of all Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas to everybody!!! My son and I went to the FW Auto Show Thursday the 19th. Long walk from where we parked but I suppose it was worth it. Saw a bunch of gorgeous cars, even Ford had two LOL. One that stood out was the 2016 Toyota Tundra 1749 edition to honor the ranch that used to be where the Toyota plant is now. It was a beautiful Metallic Brown, with a really nice Mocha color interior. Too bad it gets worse mileage than my old Jeep J-10. I feel like Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Chrysler could have had a few more vehicles there to show more options. They did have a red Hellcat Challenger but they wouldn t let anyone close (gee, I wonder why). Most every truck there was in excess of 45k, don t think I will be buying a new truck anytime soon. On a personal note, my shoulder is slowly improving, not taking any more pain meds. My wife is lucky(?) enough to be having gastric sleeve surgery on the 24th of November (her choice) so I suppose I am going to have to eat enough to make up for her. Hopefully my Jeep will be ready soon. Was hoping to take it to the show, but not gonna happen. Did manage to find a cool set of rims for it off a 78 Wagoneer, factory aluminum rims, got them real cheap. Well, going to close for now, help my wife get her stuff done. Toodles Y all. 7 The Go Fast(er) Department Mark Buchanan - Race Team Coordinator HEY FOURTEEN TIME TMCCC CHAMPIONS!!!! CONGRATULATIONS COWTOWN MOPARS!!!!!!!! We did it again!!! This makes 14 in a row. We were behind for a couple of races this year after a tough day in Ardmore this past summer but we recovered and won by 17 points for the 14th win in a row. We also had 10 award winners at the banquet this year. 8 Off The Wing by Barry Hansen Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. We road tripped to my mother-in-law's outside Kansas City (I am particularly blessed with a terrific in-laws, my wife not so much). On way back, outside of Joplin fell in with about a half dozen other Dodges with Texas plates. Broke up at Vinita for a break. On the road to Muskogee we all kind of fell in again. Stopped for gas in McAlester and few miles down the road sure enough we all bunched up again. Finally at Dennison we all started pealing off. Dodges of a feather... I guess. Sadly I missed the Toy Drive/Car Show. Word up it was a big success again. A good deed at church took way longer than I thought. Not complaining, I figure get a little extra churchin' whenever you can. Were you sweating for a while like me when Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Chrysler CEO, said he was shopping for a merger partner, in particular GM? After everybody and his brother wrote editorials against it in everything from Forbes magazine and the Wall Street Journal to Hot Rod and Motor Trend he killed the idea. After all, the merger between Chrysler and MB went so well. NHRA...Toyota Nats in Las Vegas, NV, Tommy Johnson Jr, Charger, runner up F/C, Pete Farber, '69 Daytona, runner up Pro Mod. Auto Club Finals, Pomona, CA, again Tommy Johnson Jr, Charger, runner up F/C. B gosh and b gorra, saints be praised, Allen John, Dart, the only non-camaro past the first round, winner Pro Stock. End of season NHRA World Champion Points Race, Tony Schumacher T/F runner up. Jack Beckman, Tommy Johnson Jr, Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, all Dodge Chargers, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th in F/C. Allen Johnson, Dart, 3rd in Pro Stock, Pete Farber, '69 Daytona, 10th in Pro Mod. All-in-all kind of sad for Mopar in 2015 after winning everything in site in Sill think something is fishy in Pro Stock. However Cowtown Mopars aced 'em in the TMCCC again and the show team took home a truckload of trophies at various shows. Way to go! Please remember the reason for the season.
