3 Usually at the Christmas Party I say MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone, but I was robbed this year of the chance. So I say Merry Christmas or I should say I hope you had a Merry Christmas!!!!! All the ice and cool weather caused us to alter our plans. I hope you know and plan to be at the annual Christmas Party which was rescheduled for January 18th at Mercado Juarez in South Arlington. Everything will be the same as our plans in December just in January. Please bring your appetite, white elephant gift and $5 and we will have a great time. Dessert is never a part of our meal at Mercado Juarez so if you can please bring something sweet for after our meal. Thanks! If you are like me most years you make a New Year's resolution and by February you can't remember what it was. Well I made a New Year's resolution several weeks ago and I WILL be keeping this one for a long time. The story goes like this: In the Winter we feed our outside cat a can of wet food every night to help her put on and maintain her Winter coat. When I said we I meant Becky my lovely bride. One evening as she was preparing the wet cat food she took a spoon out of the dishwasher to removed the food from the can then placed it back in the dishwasher. The only problem with seeing this is I also would take a spoon out of the dishwasher every night to stir my citrucel in a glass of water. As I watch this happen before me the terrible smell of the open can of cat food made my weak stomach turn. I quickly decided I would never ever again take a dirty spoon or anything else for that matter from the dishwasher and use it. So my New Years resolution is to only put stuff in the dishwasher and not take it out unless I'm 100% sure it's clean. See ya at the January Christmas Party. 5 TechTip I have been having some under dash issues with my 68 Cuda. While I had the instrument cluster out I replaced the illumination bulbs with Sylvania 194 LED bulbs. They fit in the regular black holder and give 150% more white light. They are not cheap at $9.97 each and the Cuda took 4 but the change in lighting is dramatic bright like modern cars. 7 Off The Wing by Barry Hansen A great big Mopar howdy and Happy New Year Hope you had a good holiday. Ours was great. Privileged to spend a White Christmas in Kansas City with the in-laws (I am blessed with great in-laws, my wife, not so much) then a few days in Omaha with the new granddaughter. Can already tell she will be a racer, long legs for the clutch and a big gas foot. The club got a beautiful handwritten thank you card from the Salvation Army for our toy drive donations. We have supported them for many years. Everyone should feel very proud. Racing season will finally start soon. Winter Nat s, Pomona, CA on Feb 9. Oh, and something happens in Daytona Beach. Don t tell me, let me think, no, don t tell me, it will come to me in a minute, man it s right on the tip of my tongue I got it, the 24 Hours of Daytona on Jan when the new Viper team will be eating Corvettes and Ferraris for lunch (sorry Fiat). Andy Granatelli died Dec 29 at age 90. Loved following his escapades at Indy in the 60s and 70s. If you want a good read may I recommend his autobiography They Call Me Mr 500. I have a dog eared paperback worn out from reading it so many times. Possibly you can find a copy in Half-Priced Books or at Amazon. Toyota will offer a Cummins diesel in its trucks. Get a little Mopar in your Toyota. Now, if they would only stuff a HEMI in an Avalon. Speaking of HEMI, rumor is that next year a Cuda takes over the current Challenger chassis the Challenger moves to the Avenger/Chrysler 200 chassis. Good move only if they keep the HEMI option on the new Challenger. Other wishful thinking dept; how about a street version of the 600 hp all wheel drive X Games Dart. A guy can dream can t he. The new Cowtown Mopars website is up and running. Looks great. Thanks so much to Mike Roerich and Kirk Maisenbacher. And to Mike Miller for all the years before that. Lots and lots of time, sweat and effort went into it. Thanks. Mopar spotting on cable channel CNBC the head of Ferrari USA introduced a new $1.6 million Ferrari. The problem was that parallel parked behind this small, low slung car was a Mini Cooper and a beautifully restored, polished to a mirror finish, gold, primo 67 Coronet 2 door coupe. It just loomed over the Ferrari. Whoops. More Mopar spotting not a big fan of Will Ferrell (except for Old School ) but some of the Ron Burgundy Dodge commercials are pretty funny. Hope to see you at the (Post) Christmas Party on Jan 18. Remember 5:00 at Mercado Juarez, I H 20 and Matlock Rd, south Arlington.. I have a feeling it will be very successful.
