3 Meeting Minutes: RCCC Monthly meeting 8/19/10 Meeting was called to order by Vice President Ron Hastings. 27 members were present. The minutes of the July meeting were read by Secretary Ron Kellogg and accepted. The treasurer report was read by the Treasurer Larry Johnston and accepted. Jerry Ray stated that we have 6 new members since last month for a total of 126. Mike Nabors is planning a fall overnight cruise to the Dillard House by way of the Cherohala Skyway Date 10/30-10/ Make your own reservations and then let Mike know. See Mike for more information. David Boner and Larry Johnston were the only birthdays present. Some members are not getting s. Sept 11 car show at Ministry of Christ Church of God on Hamil road. Larry Harless talked about the Joplin Mo trip to Vettes in the Midwest. Ron Kellogg won the 50/50drawing Meeting was adjourned. Ron Kellogg, RCCC Secretary. Friday night cruise in at Northgate Sears Auto Center at 6pm. Saturday night 8/21cruise to Ft Oglethorpe. Leave northgate library at 5pm.

4 Kickin it on Route 66 Any avid Corvette owner dreams of driving their Corvette on Route 66. This is as American as apple pie and Chevrolet. For the past three years RCCC members have attended the Vettes in the Midwest Corvette weekend in Joplin, MO. This is, in my opinion, the best Corvette weekend I have ever attended. The activities are endless including driving on old route 66, going to the drive in theater on route 66, then a car show and awards banquet. In addition to all of this, you can participate in a golf tournament, a bowling tournament, a poker run or just kick back with friends. Now this may really surprise a lot of you, but one of our own RCCC members sets up this extravaganza. Bruce Layman joined RCCC this past winter and let me tell you this guy is a hoot. Bruce can almost out talk the Ole Colonel. Bruce and our members hit it off right from the first year we attended and the friendship has grown from there. Club attendance from Iowa, Minnesota, Tennessee, Ohio, Colorado, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and the list goes on were on hand this year. The accommodations were great and the car show is indoors. A perfect setup for a perfect weekend. We are already planning the trip for next year. So mark your calendar for August 12 th through the 14 th and caravan down with us next year. Bruce will have the welcome mat all laid out and those folks from 4 States Corvette Club will make sure all your needs are met. Now lets see how well RCCC was represented at this show: Bowling Tim Nutz and his team won first place. Which included $300 for the winning team. Golf Bruce Layman finished 1 st and the Ole Colonel finished 2 nd. If I had my own clubs, glove, shoes and the sun had not been in my eyes I would have given Bruce a run for his money. But wait til next year. Cash awards were given for the top 10 farthest driven. Ron & Carol Kellogg got $200, Tim & Jean Nutz got $150 and Norma and I got $125. Norma won the 50/50 or so she tells the Colonel, as she did not share the money. Now the nitty gritty: C5 class nd place Mark and Nicole Redden. C5 class nd place Larry and Norma Harless C5 Biscuit. Dang got to try harder next year. C6 class Ron and Carol Kellogg 1 st place. Best of Show Ron and Carol Kellogg. Congratulations to all of these folks. A lot of effort was put into cleaning those cars. I want to especially thank Norma for cleaning the Biscuit while I got to play golf, she is a keeper. Pictures on the next page.

7 Cruzin September 2010 Back in the day Remember those Saturday nights when you were a teen you could fill the tank with gas for $5 and take your girl to the drive in movie, including burgers and cokes for $5? Well you may not be able to fill the tank for $5 now and the burgers and fries may cost a bit more, but you can still get in the drive in for $5. Yep it was our annual summer drive in tour at the Wilderness Drive In. A perfect evening with a full moon to watch a good movie, SALT and it was a thriller. Times may have changed a bit as the years have passed, instead of smooching in the back row, we now sit in the front row and snack and snack and snack. But some things haven t changed we still take our girls to the drive in the rush to the concession stand before the movie starts for popcorn, cokes, burgers and fries sitting around reliving the glory days with friends. Before the show starts you stare into the twilight sky at the full moon easing above the horizon, the buzz of the insects at the woodline, the sound of the babbling brook in the distance (I just added that because I like that term). For a few hours, life is perfect. Several members relived a part of our youth, even if for just a few hours when we did our annual summer drive in tour. If you missed the trip ahh well what can I say neener neener was a winner. The Ole Colonel show me da money.
