1 VOLUME 47, ISSUE 9 Fort Wayne Ski Club May/June If Founders Day Ft. Wayne City Championships weren t enough for you downhill racers, how about the Indiana State Team Champion: Fort Wayne Ski Club! On January 24 at Boyne, our contingent of mostly Champagne Cruisers regained the State Championship honor that had eluded us since last in Led by individual State Champions Sierra Luttik and Missy Crosby McKay, the Ski Machine out lasted perennial powerhouse (Elkhart) Viking Ski Club to nab the coveted title. 2 By Michael Ehle President Well, well, well, here we are; it's spring! Getting nicer every day. The spring flowers welcome me home every day. Such a nice welcome, gotta love it! The elections are over. Thanks to you all who stepped up to help this great club another year. Without you there wouldn't be a Fort Wayne Ski Club. We are still looking for a few volunteers to help out in a small way. These are not heavy work loads of a job, but just a little help to take some of the burden off your officers. We all want a relaxing summer, so just a few minutes of your summer would really help. I want to thank all those cowgirls and cowboys who went to the Rodeo with me. Between Brad, Ken, Dan, and Hal, Hal stayed on the Bull the longest...good riding Hal! Everyone had a blast. We stayed till the end; even the kids loved it! TOUR de FORT... yep it's coming. The first ride will be May 17. We will meet at the Duce hair salon in New Haven at 10:15 AM Please let me know who wants to ride. I do have a very nice spare bike if you need to borrow one. So everybody come along for the ride. All levels of riders are welcome! These rides are always lots of fun. So join me. So everybody check your Mogul for other activities coming up, and if you have any ideas for a activities we would like to do please call Becky! 3 We start hitting the little fuzzy yellow ball around the court on May 27, so if you want to join us, contact Dave Billian or Linda or SkiClubFW@aol.com Included are 3 tennis balls per court for each of the 19 nights (thru Sept). We play at Kreager Park only this year, as Swinney is being resurfaced in June in preparation for the City Tournament in July. Again this year we are playing individually, but with a partner that changes each 8 games, with the night s high point moving up a court and the low point moving down. 7 The annual Founders Day Race was held January 25 at Boyne Highlands, MI and once again the best area downhill racers competed for the glory of City Champion! 30 hearty racers displayed their racing skills on a course that was fast, technical, and fun. We applaud all the competitors in this event; our Founders would be proud to see their legacy lives on. We encourage all members of the FWSC to get involved with competition. It will make you a better skier, confident, and you will have more fun when you go fast, turn and stop when you want, at any speed. Below are the results from the Founders Day Race.
