2 Here we are in the last month of It may be last on the calendar, but it s just the beginning of ski season!! Hootie hoot! If you haven t signed up yet for any of the ski trips, now is the time to do it. Get in on your favorite trip before it s full!! I want to thank all those Dogpatch citizens that came to the Sadie Hawkins party. We had some great fun. Congrats to the best dressed winners Linda Smith as Stupefyin Smitty showing her best assets and my cousin Billy, who now most of you know, for just dressing normal. He thanks everybody for the 6 pack of beer, but was very disappointed that only 1 girl asked him to dance! Thanks Deb, for making him feel welcome. If you missed the Wine Tasting I, you missed another great party. We shared tons of wine and the food (you know I m all about food) yummy chilled and baked pastas, salads and delicious desserts! My official food award goes to Brad Lawson and his anchovy dip WOW! What will he think of next? We have sooo many great cooks in this Club; you all amaze me! LET S NOT FORGET the December 7 th Ski Club party. We have a great band coming, Trillium. You won t want to miss it! Please bring your friends and family so we can have a big crowd and don t forget those dancin shoes. Also, we will meet in the North room at the Lantern. 3 NOVEMBER 2ND PARTY - SADIE HAWKINS DAY To our enjoyment, the citizens of Dogpatch DID show up for the FWSC Sadie Hawkins dance, including Stupefyin Smitty (aka Linda Billian), Cousin Billy (aka Michael Ehle), Marryin Sam (aka Dale Fulkerson) and Fearless Fosdick (aka Dave Billian) among others. Smitty & Billy won best dressed and took some nice prizes back to The Patch. Several FWSC members also took home door prizes of Cracker Barrel Corn Muffin Mix or $10 gift certificates to the Sunrise Café. Lyman Anderson got 2 Jim Dave Michael Jo Dale Linda Sunnie Ann Jo tickets to a Komets game because he knew more about Dogpatch than anybody else! All in all, everyone had a great time even without using the services of Marryin Sam or needing the protection of Fearless Fosdick. Many thanks to Jo Buffalino for organizing this fun event! 4 Next Officers, Directors & Board Meeting Monday, December 17-7PM All members are welcome to attend this meeting, at the Smith Field Airport, New Ivy Tech Building. For directions, call Bob Wine Tasting I Kathy Ahee and Mary Shumaker outout-do themselves!! Wine Tasting I was a huge success! When you walked in the door of their clubhouse you felt like you were in a quaint Italian restaurant. The inscribed brown paper table cloths, the flickering Kathy Cindy Mary wine bottle candle holders intertwined with grapevines (did you ladies drink all that wine just for our centerpieces?) Bob Kathy Lyman Glen Mick Tracy Jeff and the cork key chain party favors were a DELIGHT! Thank you for your hospitality. As for the food and wine? 5 Just one more FWSC success!! Along with amping everyone up for the ski season, our annual movie is a fund raiser. We thrilled 54 attendees on Tuesday night, 71 on Wednesday and raised $1188 for the Club; thanks to Mike Findley and his cast of characters who orchestrated the whole production. Several area ski resorts participated in giving free gifts for the door prizes, free lift tickets to movie goers and were present at each night s viewing to tell us what they have to offer, just up the road a piece. Numerous other local vendors also contributed to the door prize cache. Wine Time, as usual, was there to provide a nice selection of grape libation. Jaime John was great! The scenery alone was spectacular. We were taken to Japan, Alaska, Austria and California; to Norway, Utah, Switzerland and Colorado. It featured 11-year-old athletes & veteran skiers, military history & descendents of war heroes, sailboats & helicopters, fishing boats & floatplanes, even a NASCAR ride. WOW what fun! 5

6 Bittersweet a great family trip! This annual outing is always full AND full of fun!! The day includes a 2.5 hour morning bus ride with coffee, juice and donuts; a great day of skiing, snowboarding, lessons or just hangin around the lodge; dinner on your own in Kalamazoo at the Wild Bull and a smooth nighttime ride back to Fort Wayne. Young and old kids alike love the first trip of the season and the anticipation of that crazy bull ride before dinner is served. If you haven t had the good fortune to join us in the past, please join us this winter season on Saturday, January 5th. Snowboard and Ski at Timber Ridge Resort Saturday, February 2, Join Rock 104, Wild 96.3, V102.9, AM-1250 The River, the Fort Wayne Ski and Snowboarding Club and Lima Road Dentistry for a motor coach trip to Kalamazoo. Proceeds will benefit HONOR FLIGHT OF NE INDIANA. Each participant should also bring 2 cans of food to the departure point to be donated to Community Harvest Food Bank. Early Bird Special Price after Bus & Lifts Rental Fee $59 $64 12 yrs and up $18 for skis $49 $ yrs $15 for skis $29 $34 7 and under $15 for skis $5/hour or $27/day for snowboard Free group ski instruction from Resort for new skiers. Snow tubing is also available. Door prizes on the buses. Departure is at 7:02 am from the western part of the Coldwater Crossing parking lot. The buses will be parked about 100 yards southwest of Hobby Lobby, and just outside of Nisco and Dollar Tree stores. Return departure is 5:02 pm.
