January has been a flurry of activities beginning with our 3rd Annual Polar Poker Run. Tim Nutz planned a great route ending with dinner at The Melon Patch in North Ga. This was our biggest Poker Run to date with over 40 members and 20 Corvettes in attendance. A GREAT time was had by all and the food was delicious! Our Club also delivered Charity Checks to Teen Challenge and Ronald McDonald House. Then we enjoyed our first of many "Friday Night Lights" Dinners, coordinated by Suzanne Hall, at Backyard Grille with 32 Club Members in attendance. The food was fabulous and the DJ and dancing were an exciting bonus! January also brought us the unveiling of the 2014 C7 Corvette at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Two variants of the C7 will be available when the car reaches dealerships in late summer; a base C7 dubbed Stingray and a higher-performance Z51. At the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Auto Auction, NASCAR Team Owner Rick Hendrick pd 1.1 million for VIN #001 of the 2014 C7 Corvette. I am excited to announce we have confirmed Co-Chairs of our 3rd Annual Classic Car Show on the River to be held on August 3. Thank you Jean and Tim Nutz for volunteering your knowledgeable and talented services for our biggest show of the year! Robin Peterson 2013 President I have been asked numerous times if we will continue with "Corvette Trivia" at our regular monthly meetings. Thanks go to Gene Talley who graciously volunteered to Host our Trivia through Be sure to attend February's Monthly meeting on February 21st as we have several important issues to discuss including: Our Charities for 2013: Any member that wishes to nominate a charity must make a presentation to the club on the charity nominated, including a detailed explanation of what the charity does, and why the club should donate money to that particular charity. Presentations must be made at the February meeting and voting will be held at the March meeting. Our 2013 Fundraiser: Any member is welcome to make a suggestion of an item to be our Fundraiser this year. The item MUST be able to be at our Shows and other Events throughout the year so we can sell tickets. The winner will be drawn and the Charity Money donated in December. We will be voting on this at the meeting. Looking forward to our Valentine's Dinner at the Station House, wonderfully coordinated by Evie Usalis. Happy Valentines Day!! 4

Evie will finalize the arrangements with the restaurant. President Peterson reported on: 1) Plans for the Friday night dinners this year, by breaking up the planning into 3 four month segments. The first segment, January through April will be handled by Suzanne Parks. The second segment, May through August, will be handled by Ronnie Kellogg (Also known as the patio series ), and the final segment, September through December, will be handled by Wendy Rath. Plans call for alternating sides of the river each time to ease travel distances for those living on opposite sides of the river. Ron Hasting will be in charge of relations with Sponsor Mountain View Chevrolet, including setting up the dates for Spring and Fall Car Shows. Ron couldn t be at the meeting due to weather alerts and had to work. The club picnic is set for October 20. Ron Kellogg is looking in to arrangements for location. Ron Kellogg reported on the calendar for 2013 events that is available for viewing on the cub s web site. Green events represent club official events, and Blue events represent events some members have expressed interest in, while black events are events that Ronnie found that would be possible events some members may wish to attend. Ronnie reported on a Corvette Show in April in Birmingham as a first club event and the Somerset, KY cruise in in June as well. Tim Nutz motioned adjournment and the motion was seconded by Gene Talley. The meeting was adjourned. We still need a newsletter editor as well as volunteers to submit articles, pictures, or anything of interest to the club. In the last 10 years we have had only two members doing this for the club. It would be nice to have some new ideas and a new approach to the newsletter. Please consider to volunteer for this position. Also if you do not want to be the editor, volunteer to be a reporter. Let any of the club officers know if you would be willing to help the club with the newsletter. Remember the old saying some people watch what happens others make things happen and the rest wonder what happened!! Which are you? 6

The River City Corvette Club loves Corvettes, dining, weekend trips, dining, car shows, dining, and our community. Club members work hard through out the year to raise money just to give it away at the end of the year was no exception. Three local charities and one deserving family were recipients of these efforts. Tim Nutz presenting a check for $1,000 to Mike & Debbie Wood, accepting for Relay for Life. Relay for Life was one of four recipients. RCCC 2012 President Tim Nutz presented a check for $1,000 to Debbie and Mike Woods who accepted for Relay for life. Relay for Life works with cancer patients and survivors in the local area. They provide a plethora of support to these people including make up and wigs at no charge. Everybody reading this article knows a family member or a friend who has battled or is battling this terrible disease. Tim also presented a $1,000 check to the Kylee Our next stop was the Ronald McDonald House. Members took a little ride on a Sunday afternoon to the Ronald McDonald House. Walked up to the front door and rang the door bell. A volunteer showed up and there stood this group of folks who told them we have a check for $1,000 for the House. Tim Nutz presents a check for $1,000 to the Ronald McDonald House. You can imagine the surprised look of the Volunteer. What a great charity for our community. Good job RCCC for helping. Our second stop on this Sunday afternoon was Teen Challenge. A second chance for kids to get Kylee Tim Nutz presenting a check for $1,000 to Lori Harless Stenger. Cunningham family to help with medical bills. Lori Harless Stenger, a friend of the family, accepts the check for little Kylee. Kylee has a liver disease called Glycogen Storage Disease. Best wishes to Kylee and her family from River City Corvette Club. their life back on track. Once again Tim presents a check for $1,000 to Teen Challenge. I am so proud to be a part of an organization like the River City Corvette Club and you thought all we did was eat and go to car shows. 7

On Saturday, January 19 th, we held our annual Polar Poker Run. With about 20 days in a row of rain, cold and wind. We were all ready for a change of weather and on Saturday, we finally got that change. Sunshine and temperatures in the 50 s is all we need to get the cars out of the shed and stretch their legs. The Poker Run started at the Dairy Queen on 153 with Ron Kellogg passing out the first card. Next on to O Charlies where Joe Rath did the honors on the 2 nd card. Then it was to Mt. View Chevrolet for card #3 from Ron Hasting. At this point all seemed to be holding together fairly well. By the time the first cars started pulling in to stop #4 at Cloud Springs Road, a little separation in the caravan had developed. With all the stop lights and traffic, it was bound to happen. But within a few minutes, the rest of the group showed up and received their 4 th card from yours truly. From here we left as a group of over 20 corvettes creating a beautiful sight going down 27 and into the Battlefield. Our last stop before the restaurant was on a small side road inside the Chickamauga Battlefield. It was at this point that I started to pass out card #5. All was going well until a couple of stray cars got caught up in our group. I offered them a card and all I got was a blank stare. With 20 corvettes lined up on this small one lane road. I hadn t thought on how I was going to get back to the front of the line to lead everyone on to the restaurant. There was barely enough room on one side for me to make my way on the grass and road by the row of cars. I finally made it to the front and we continued through the Battlefield and on to the restaurant. Cars started pulling into the parking lot and I was getting them all lined up when it looked like we were a few short. I called Robin and asked her where she was and her response was I don t have a clue!! How many cars are with you? Oh about 5 or 6 she said. OK, I told them to stay where they were and I would come and find them. In with the group that was misplaced were Bob and Billie. Now I m not saying that he was leading the group but past history does play a part in this adventure. Long story short, we all finally got to the restaurant and everyone received their last card. The food started coming out quickly so we ate first and then finished the poker hand. When all members had 6 cards, I proceeded to blindly remove one card from everyone s hand. I heard some groans and sighs but these are my rules. Yes, I know there was some card swapping and trading. Come on Sara, 6 of a kind, Chuck, a straight flush?????. It s all for fun anyway. James and Kay Carmicino ended up winning with 3 jacks. Final count was around 45 members and 22 corvettes. Thank for all that attended and enjoyed a great day By: Tim Nutz 8

Alex Cerasi Charlie, Mark, Billie and Bobby. Just having fun. Lindsay & Kim Lemmon Yummmmmmmmmm FOOD and FUN!!! 9

What a great turnout for the Valentine Dinner at the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo s Station House Restaurant, home of the singing waiters. Thank you Evie Usalis for handling this most successful event for the club. As the ole Colonel says.. you did good!!! When you get a bunch of friends together at a very nice venue with great food and entertainment and add a pinch of laughs on a special occasion you have a River City Corvette Club celebration. The old saying is a picture is worth a thousand words. Now for a pictorial of our Valentines Celebration. Evie and Joe Usalis. Happy Valentines Day!! 10

What a great way to kick off our Friday Night Lights series for Thirty two members met at Backyard Grill for an evening for food and fun and it was all of that and more. Great job Parks and Suzanne Hall. Ya ll did good!! If you like food and fun, this club activity is for you. We all meet at a chosen restaurant on a Friday evening and just kick start the weekend. This has become a great club tradition and we have a great group of folks that are restaurant pickers this year. Come join in the fun and I bet you will try it again and again. Just sayin 11

Chevrolet is redefining modern performance with the January 13th debut of the all-new Corvette Stingray. And only a Corvette with the perfect balance of technology, design and performance can wear the iconic Stingray designation. The 2014 Corvette Stingray is the most powerful standard model ever, with an estimated 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also the most capable standard model ever, able to accelerate from 0-60 in less than four seconds and achieve more than 1g in cornering grip. It is expected to be the most fuel-efficient Corvette, exceeding the EPAestimated 26 mpg of the current model. Like the 63 Sting Ray, the best Corvettes embodied performance leadership, delivering cutting-edge technologies, breathtaking design and awe-inspiring driving experiences. The all-new Corvette goes farther than ever, thanks to today s advancements in design, technology and engineering. The all-new Corvette Stingray shares only two parts with the previous generation Corvette. It incorporates an all-new frame structure and chassis, a new power train and supporting technologies, as well as completely new exterior and interior designs. However, it does NOT come in ORANGE!!! Just sayin. 12
