6 NATIONALS 2017 Voted on and Approved by AVA Board August 24-27, 2017 Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Event Center JUMP-START CLINICS Carolyn Bland Pacific Coast Vaulters held a very successful high performance clinic in early October. The theme of the clinic was Starting Point. USA Clinicians Ali Divita, Carolyn Bland, Kristian Roberts, Suzanne Detol and Erica Meitz, along with Austrian Clinician Stefan Csandl worked with vaulters on assessing their starting points and putting together an action plan to get them toward their goals. The clinic included technique instruction, biomechanics, use of correct muscle and muscle groups, as well as fitness and flexibility goals. In November the USEF High Performance Clinic again featured top national and international clinicians. These clinics will continue through March, They will focus on goal setting, fitness planning, technique assessment, flexibility training, compulsory training, freestyle building, enhancing performance, as well as accountability and follow up. Are you looking to make big strides in your vaulting and compete successfully in the 2017 season? RSVP to Carolyn Bland for these not-to-be-missed clinics at whimby4@gmail.com. Hurry! Slots are filling up fast and these are excellent and much needed trainings for our most promising vaulters! SUPPORT REGION II AVA JUDGES TRAINING Kelley Holly Back in the summer in Gilroy and again in October in Novato we discussed the need to support up and coming potential judge candidates. One of the necessary criteria to become a judge is attendance at an open judges forum. This year the annual members meeting will be taking place close to home in San Francisco. The AVA is trying to make this a free-registration event for the members and a true service to the membership by returning to business meetings and working committees involving AVA members at large not just executive board members and board members. That being said, for the first time ever, we are also trying to offer the Open Judges Forum free of charge. Normally this event would be at a charge of between $50 and $40 per person. For the last two years the profit from this event has then gone to supporting the judges program and specifically gone into grants for judges training sessions of which an apprentice must attend a minimum of 8. In 2015 the open forum brought in $2950 and in 2016 $1550. Since this is being held this year in our region, what do you think of helping financially to sponsor the event or to sponsor judge candidates from Region II? Our members will benefit greatly when we have more judges in our region. Hopefully we will encourage the young adults of our region who are eligible to enter the judges program. me at tambourine-farm@att.net with your thoughts asap. Thanks. 7 Do you remember the November Super Moon? Looks like Amanda Neuweler has captured it while vaulting with Sadie.
