2 Welcome to the 2018 Trans-Tasman Water Polo Competition Located on the North Shore of Sydney, Knox Grammar School is proud to welcome schools from Australia and New Zealand to the 2018 Trans-Tasman Water Polo Tournament. With all games played at the same pool and many teams staying on Knox campus, the 2018 tournament is set to be one of the most atmospheric and exciting to date. Inspired by the ideals of faith, wisdom, integrity and compassion we will strive to create a culture in which fosters teamwork and a friendly rivalry between our schools. Knox places a great deal of merit in the role that tours provide in promoting mate-ship, comradery and most importantly lifelong participation in sport. As such, Knox will place a large emphasis on ensuring that the spirit of the game is nurtured throughout the tournament and that friendships within and between teams and nations are formed. This bulletin provides further information on the tournament, including accommodation options, the player levy and how to register. VENUE: KNOX GRAMMAR SCHOOL AQUATIC CENTRE The Knox Aquatic Centre is located on the main campus of Knox Grammar School and incorporates a purpose built indoor 50m pool.

3 VENUE: KNOX GRAMMAR SCHOOL AQUATIC CENTRE The Knox Aquatic Centre is located on the main campus of Knox Grammar School and incorporates a purpose built indoor 50m pool. All 2018 Trans-Tasman Water Polo games will be played at the Knox Aquatic Centre with two games running concurrently throughout each day. A dedicated dry-land warmup area will be allocated for each team close to the Aquatic Centre. A period of time will also be designated for each team to complete an in-water warmup prior to each game. There is no entry fee for team members, officials or spectators with a large amount of seating available for spectators from each team. PLAYER LEVY The 2018 Trans-Tasman Tournament cost will be $132 (AUD, inclusive of GST) per player. This cost will cover: - Lunch for all players and staff each day; - Referees; - Medals; - First Aid supplies / Ice etc; - All other tournament expenses. An invoice will be sent to each team following registration.

ACCOMMODATION Knox Boarding Centre Located only 200m from the Aquatic Centre, the modern and functional Knox Boarding Centre will be available for teams to stay in throughout the tournament. The Boarding Centre, built in 2010 provides the easiest accommodation option for all teams travelling domestically and internationally. The Knox Boarding House can accommodate up to 130 people during the Trans-Tasman Tournament with bookings taken on a first in best dressed basis. 5 GETTING TO KNOX FROM SYDNEY AIRPORT By Train: Located within a short walking distance from both Warrawee and Wahroonga train stations, Knox is easily assessable from Sydney Airport on the T1 North Shore Line (via Central Station). By Vehicle: If travelling by hire-van or bus, Knox is located approximately 1 hour from Sydney Airport. Simply travel across (or under) the Sydney Harbour Bridge and exit the Warringah Freeway onto the Pacific Highway and travel North to Wahroonga. PRE-TOURNAMENT COACH AND MANAGER MEETING A pre-tournament Coach and Manager Meeting will take place on Saturday 8 th December in the Knox Thistle Room at 5.00pm. All schools are required to send at least 1 representative (coach or team manager) to this meeting. BASIC TOURNAMENT RULES The maximum number of players for each team will be thirteen. Teams can bring a larger playing roster however only thirteen will be allowed to play in any one game. Teams who bring a larger playing roster will pay a greater levy. There will be seven players in the water and games will be played using a size 5 Water Polo Ball. All games will be umpired by two accredited Water Polo Referees. Further rules will be sent in following bulletins REFEREES EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Knox is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified NSW, Australian Interstate and New Zealand Water Polo Referees. All Referees will be paid a daily rate. EOI s for refereeing positions should be communicated to Mark McNamara by July 2018.
