First allow me to assure you that financially we are doing better in comparison to the last few years. With the proceeds from dues and the Autumn in Bonham Bike Rally we should be in even better shape by the end of the calendar year. With all going well we will be able to pay down some of our debt. I spoke with Jim Hoyt and Ken Woody Smith, with Richardson Bike Mart, and they seemed excited to continue support for the Autumn in Bonham Bike Rally. This is our twenty fifth year and they have been with us from the beginning! We have signed up some other sponsors and we are nearly ready to order the shirts for both the riders and the volunteers. It is unbelievable that a quarter century has passed and I know that many people in Fannin County are responsible for the past and continued success of this event. Your continued support is very much appreciated and we thank you in advance for your efforts to make this the best bike rally yet. Please contact the Chamber and place your name on the list early to volunteer. In doing so, you will help us save valuable manpower from calling and asking for your participation. We will be in the process very soon, September, to elect people to the Chamber Board. In the past there seems to be some confusion as to how this takes place and I have been told there is a belief in a good ole boy system. To my knowledge this could not be further from the truth. In reality it is often hard to find people who want to serve on the board as there is a lot of responsibility and time involved. This year we have several positions on the board to fill. This has been a tough year and there have been a few resignations and there are some of us who fall off the board, three year term limit, including myself. These new positions will be filled at the first of the year so people have time to prepare for their tenure. Once we receive a slate of nominated people, and they accept the nomination, we will publish the list for a member based vote. Whoever receives the most votes will fill the positions in order of votes received. Officers will be elected by the board members after the first of the year and this year s chair elect will be chair next year. Hopefully we will have more candidates than positions. Please participate. Your continued support of the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce is our sole funding source. The prompt payment of dues is very much appreciated. We realize the economy is not what it used to be and we want no one to fall by the wayside. If you receive an invoice and need some time to complete your due payment we very much want to work with you; partial payments are very much appreciated. The very last thing the chamber wants is to lose a member. If the Chamber or myself can be of any service to you do not hesitate to call. Remember we may hold a board position but you the merchants and citizens of Bonham and its surrounding areas are the Chamber of Commerce. Bonham First!! 6 BILL JONES APPOINTED AS RENTAL MANAGER OF FANNIN COUNTY MULTI-PURPOSE COMPLEX Due to the reduction in staff at the Bonham Chamber, the Chamber will no longer be handling the rental of the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex. On July 8th the Multi-Purpose Complex Board voted to hire Bill Jones for the position. If you have reserved a date or you are interested in renting the Multi-Purpose Complex please call Bill at (903) CHAMBER LOOKING FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS PROSPECTS The Bonham Chamber Board of Directors Nominating Committee is asking for your help in finding Board of Director prospects to begin terms in 2012 for 3 years. 7 Bonham Chamber Holds 2011 Annual Golf Tournament By Melody Michaud It was hot, but did that stop the golfers? Not on your life! The Bonham Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success this year. It was held at the Legacy Ridge Country Club and Golf Course again this year. Even before the tournament kicked off chamber employees, volunteers and board members were hard at work. Gayle Smithey and Jerry Hackney, as well as volunteer Judy Keene helped with pulling the tournament together. Gayle, Jerry and Judy as well as Board members Jerrad Besch and Milton Glenn were there bright and early to help put out sponsor signs. Chamber members Joe Ward and Royce Smithey came up at noon to help out. MaximaCare s Lisa Schmidt was also on hand to help with registration and pass out We wrapped up the tournament with dinner provided by Cappy s Café and the help of Board members Lue Norman and Melody Michaud. We would like to give a special thanks to Tom Turner and the Fannin County Leader for their help with printing all of our sponsors signs. We truly could not have achieved this fun day if not for all of the effort of our staff, volunteers, board members and caring members of the chamber. 11 Dynamo Paintball Company to Host Network Nites & Ribbon Cutting July 21st Made in the USA! One doesn t see that much anymore. Luckily for Bonham residents we will be able to take pride in the fact that one of our newest manufacturers does just that. Dynamo Paintball Company, located on Main Street in Bonham, is one of just four manufacturers in the United States that produces paintballs. Baari Inc., the corporate backer, has been a raw material supplier to Brass Eagle/JT Sports, a division of Rawling Sporting Goods Company, for the past two years. They have also formulated different fill options for Brass Eagle and developed a proprietary ecological friendly paintball that dissolves and washes easily. By: Michael Smithey Several foreign companies have expressed interest in purchasing products from the company, along with the ever growing market in the United States. All material used in the production will be sourced from the United States, with the manufacturing done in Texas. This makes the paintball a true Made in USA product.
