2 PAGE 2 JULY 2017 The Scatter Sheet ONTARIO ROD GUN CLUB HAS A NEW PRACTICE ARCHERY RANGE Attention archers! The club now offers practice with your bow. We have three freestanding shooting bags placed at 20, 30, and 40 yards for you to practice your archery skills. We also have a life-size buck target placed at 20 yards. You may move the deer target to any of the other yardages. Dear hunters, take note, we also have a 15 foot ladder stand from which to shoot. You can shout 20 yards to 40 yards. When shooting from the ladder stand you must wear a safety tree stand harness! There will be a harness in the mailbox for you to use, or you can bring your own. If you are caught shooting from the ladder stand without a harness on you will be asked to leave the first time and then after that you will not be allowed to use the range. The use of broad heads on ORGC targets is not allowed!!! If you are caught shooting broad heads into RGC targets you will be required to buy new targets! If you wish to use Broadhead's on the practice range you may bring your own targets into which you may shoot Broadhead's. Otherwise Broadhead's are strictly forbidden for use into ORGC targets. The archery practice range is located off the east driveway just past the East trap house. Look for the red wooden arrow and red marking tape in the trees. There is a stand with tubes to hold your bow and arrows. The archery practice range for ORGC members and guests is due to the efforts and hard work of Doug Sharon Trumpowsky. Thank you Doug Sharon! USPSA MATCHES ARE SCHEDULED AT THE CLUB! This year ORGC is now the newest USPSA member club in New York State. Classifiers and match programs are scheduled at the club with a USPSA pistol match scheduled for June 25th at the club. This is a great opportunity to grab your pistol to come out and compete! No matter what pistol is your favorite, USPSA has a division for you. Production is the most popular class. Any unmodified pistols qualify. Like shooting with a red dot on your pistol? Carry Optics is your division. Love those 45 automatics? Single Stack division; USPSA has a division for you! So keep your eye on the ORGC website and the ORGC calendar for our first USPSA match! Any questions contact Keith Bourgeois at keith@teamrangelog.com. ORGC PATRIOT 3 GUN MATCH by Eli Saber On June , the club held its 4th annual Patriot 3 Gun match namely the ORGC Patriot 3 Gun The match included: 1) four 3 Gun style stages that featured a challenging intermix of pistol, rifle, bird shot and slugs; 2) an official 3 Gun Nation (3GN) classifier; and 3) our famous shotgun-only jungle run with 37 rounds of bird shot. The stages, designed by Match Director Eli Saber ( can be viewed at the following website: The overall round count (pistol, rifle, bird shot and slugs) for the match was around 300 rounds. The match was attended by 61 shooters (the largest ever at ORGC) that shot in the following divisions: Unlimited (6 shooters), Practical (41 Shooters), Factory (13 Shooters), and Heavy (1 Shooters). Thirty Eight shooters participated in the match on Saturday and the balance on Sunday. Attendance at the match has more than doubled from its debut of 24 shooters in 2014 a testimony to the growth in the sport both at national and local levels. The overall results have been posted on Practiscore (search under ORGC). We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the shooters that attended the match. The match would not exist without your patronage! A match of this size cannot be effectively and efficiently managed without the extensive support of a team of volunteers working behind the scenes to ensure that all activities are streamlined and conducted in a safe manner. Special thanks go to: Jeff Aman, Keith Bourgeois, David Colburn, Bohdan Ersteniuk, Heidi Jensen, Robin Jones, Beep Kielkowicz, Bob Ledgerwood, George McFaul, Ken Paul, Chris Ranson, Peter Sundquist, Steve Verdi, Scott Weis and Don Wladyk for their dedication, efforts, and extensive support before and during the match. Finally, now that the Patriot 2017 is in the history books, our next match The ORGC 2017 Warrior 3 Gun which will be directed by Keith Bourgeois is now open for registration on Practiscore. The match will feature three stages that will require light athletic abilities, one official 3GN classifier and, of course, our exceptional jungle run. We invite you to come out and enjoy these unique matches that continue to take place in upstate NY given that ORGC is the only 3 GN affiliated club in NY state. Whether you are an amateur or professional, a never -ever or a regular, the ORGC 3 Gun team stands ready to assist you in making your match experience a stellar success.

3 PAGE 3 JULY 2017 The Scatter Sheet RPD TRAINING TO BE OFFERED "Rochester Personal Defense, LLC is happy to announce that we will be providing our training courses at ORGC. Head on over to the RPD, LLC website ( and see the schedule for yourself. Feel free to call if you have any questions. David S. Jenkins Founder, Director of Training and Developmen YOUTH SHOOTING The Ontario Rod and Gun Club has a youth shooting program underway. May 8th was the opening day for our youth program with five youngsters having the opportunity to shoot.22 caliber rifles on the Eagles Range. Each student had the opportunity to shoot 50 rounds at various targets on the field. At the end of the evening a reactive target was available. Needless to say the smiles on these kids were priceless. The program is free to children of club members ages 12 to 17 years old. Children whose parents are not members of the club will pay a fee of $20 per year. Ammunition and targets are provided by the club. Some guns will be available for those who do not own their own firearms. See Steve Verdi for more detailed information. Special thanks to the Buffalo Gun Center Inc. for their help by giving us a discount on a case of.22 caliber ammunition to be used in our Youth Shooting program. LAWN MAINTERNANCE Every Friday beginning at about 9 AM a crew will be on the range cutting grass and doing trimming. Every effort will be made to limit the amount of time that is spent on the long-range area. We ask shooters not to utilize the long-range until the mowers have completed cutting the grass to the east side of the west trap field. Once the mowers have moved to the east side of the property rifle shooters may utilize the long-range using due care setting up their targets on the 50 and the 100 yard burns. Generally speaking, lawn maintenance will conclude around noon time each Friday; providing it is not raining. Additionally, please park your vehicles near the west storage trailer early Fridays to avoid damage to your vehicle from stones that may be ejected from the mower. Thank you for your kind cooperation in this matter. This is just a reminder: ACCESS THRU THE MANGATE TO THE RANGES BEGINS AT 9:05 AM - ENDS AT9:00 PM Any earlier and your FOB will not work. Make sure you are out of the ranges before 9:00 PM Additionally, normal shooting hours are from 9 AM until DUSK daily. Please adhere to this schedule in consideration of our neighbors
