Eight of its 10-losses have been by one goal. The Falcons lone tie came in the opening weekend of Mid-American Conference play, drawing 0-0 with Kent State Sept. 23. Bowling Green last won a match Aug. 26, dropping IUPUI, 2-1. FALCONS TO WATCH... Sidney Huth and Jessa Jarvis each have two goals this season for the Falcons, but Huth seperates herself with one helper. Madeline Wideman scored Bowling Green s game-winning goal versus IUPUI earlier this season, capitalizing in the 57th minute. ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN Central Michigan, the Mid-American Conference s defending champion, are this season and in the young MAC season. The Chips dropped their first MAC contest last Sunday to Eastern Michigan, falling by a 2-0 margin, after winning their first three conference matches. The schedule for CMU has been a tough one, as it has taken on No. 6 Penn State (L, 5-0), No. 12 Marquette (T, 0-0) and No. 14 Texas A&M (L, 2-0). Nine different players have scored goals for the Chips in CHIPPEWA TO WATCH... Stefanie Turner has been an anchor in net for CMU, appearing in eight matches with six starts. She s kept four clean sheets in her four wins and has recorded 30 saves to go along with her 0.97 goals against average. LAST TIME OUT Northern Illinois had its first four point weekend on the road since Oct. 17 and 19, 2008 at Buffalo (W, 1-0) and Kent State (T, 1-1) with its win under the lights at Akron Friday night and tie at Buffalo on Sunday. NIU took the lead in the 14th minute versus Akron with Frances notching her first goal of the season in front a UA women s soccer record 1,165 people. The team defended well to retain that lead, highlighted by a crucial save by Amy and diving header by Lauren to clear a scoring chance by the Zips in the 63rd minute. On Sunday versus the Bulls, the Huskies again took an early lead, 17th minute, on Sara Spaulding s second goal of the season. UB tied it up in the 54th when Stephanie Velez tickled the back of the net. The Huskies valiantly tried to break the tie, outshooting Buffalo 8-2 in both overtime periods. UNBEATEN IN THREE With a pair of ties, Western Michigan and Buffalo, and a win over Akron, the Huskies are on a three-match unbeaten streak. It is the first time since Sept. 26-Oct. 8, 2010 (3-0-1) that Northern Illinois had been on such a streak.

2 THE HUSKIES AND THE FALCONS The Huskies lead the all-time series with the Falcons, 8-7-1, since the teams first met in Last season, Bowling Green defeated Northern Illinois, 1-0, and snapped a four match winless-streak as BGSU last won in THE HUSKIES AND THE CHIPPEWAS Northern Illinois trails the all-time series with Central Michigan, 6-10, and has lost five-straight to the Chips. NIU last defeated CMU in 2007, a 3-2 triumph in DeKalb. At home, the Huskies are 3-4 against Central Michigan. The chippewas won last season s contest, 1-0. SCORING - THE ULTIMATE TEAM EFFORT While Cori has been the leader in most of NIU s offensive efforts, the team has still managed to distribute its scoring as eight different Huskies have scored goals. SETTING AND GETTING GOALS Goals are important in order for any team or individual to succeed. Just ask any coach or athlete that and they will echo that sentimate. In their 11 contests this fall, the Huskies have scored 12 goals and allowed eight for a +4 goal differential. With seven matches remaining in the regular season, Northern Illinois will be looking to finish 2012 with a positive goal differential for the first time since 2007 when it scored 19 and allowed 15. MOVING FORWARD Northern Illinois will hope to rebound after a 2011 season that saw the team finish overall and 1-9 in the Mid-American Conference. The Huskies were selected to finish 11th in this season s MAC Coaches Poll with 14 points, three points behind Bowling Green. Toledo was selected as the preseason favorite. Despite the low prognostication, the Huskies will be looking to qualify for the MAC Tournament for the first time since PRESEASON PROWESS Though exhibitions can have close to no correlation to the regular season, Northern Illinois finished in the preseason and did not surrender a goal in their 180 minutes of play. Between the sticks, sophomore Deanna Libricz played 135 minutes in goal and was cool as a cucumber versus IPFW as she made two saves and was very quick to step and clear any passes or threats by the attack. NEXT UP The Huskies will play its final home matches of the season Friday and Sunday Oct. 12 and 14 when they host Miami (Ohio) and Ball State. NIU will celebrate Senior Day versus the Cardinals as well, honoring seniors Lauren, Shelbi, Nici Newquist and Anna Roman-Pleschko. ON THE ROAD WITH THE HUSKIES When the team left for their bus trip to Akron and Buffalo, they left with a Flip Cam to chronicle the trip and the hijinks that ensues on the bus. The antics ranged from team games to Harry Potter impressions. Log on to YouTube and search niuhuskiesdotcom to view the videos. FRANKENBERG THE FINISHER Junior Cori has been on a tear this season with four goals and four assists, including four game-winning goals. She is ranked 11th in the NCAA after her game-winner Sept. 16 versus South Dakota. She leads the MAC in golden goals and is currently ninth in the conference in scoring. She had an assist last weekend at Akron and Buffalo. DRIVE MY CARR With five shutouts to her credit this season and only six goals allowed in 973 minutes, goalkeeper Amy currently owns a goals against average of Though the defensive third is a big part as well, is ranked No. 29 of 150 in the country for the lowest GAA. As a team, NIU ranks 32nd of 330 in goals against average this season (0.699). The Hemel Hempstead, England native is first in the MAC in goals against average and tied for first in shutouts. All-time at NIU, she is second in career shutouts with 14 behind Lindsay Curnock s 25 ( ). 20-YEARS AND RUNNING STRONG The Huskies began their 20th season Aug. 17 at Drake and own the honor of being the Mid-American Conference s oldest program. When NIU kicked off against Drake, it was the Huskies 365th contest. NIU has won two MAC Championships in their time and has reached the tournament championship three times since the conference began sponsoring women s soccer in YOUNG FOLKS, TALKING BOUT THE YOUNG STYLE When the Huskies played their first soccer game September 5, 1993, 12 members of the team were not born yet. NIU kicked off its program with a 7-0 win over Valparaiso, coincidentally, where NIU played its first exhibition match of the 2012 season.
