2 2. Booster Juice RDC Athletes of the Week: UMenU: Name John Lee Basketball Hometown: Bermuda Year/Program: 1 st Yr/Open Studies John demonstrated solid on-court leadership this past weekend. As an undersized post player in the ACAC, he had higher-than-average numbers, helping the Kings in a weekend split vs. MHC Rattlers. John totalled 11 points, 8 rebounds, provided a lot of grit and determination, and played solid minutes in what was a thin line-up up front at times for the Kings. John s understanding of the Canadian basketball game has greatly increased over the past couple of months and he is proving to be an outstanding player for the Kings. UWomenU: Name Megan Abt - Hockey Hometown: Bentley, AB Year/Program: 1 st Yr/Bach of Science 3. Coaches Comments Megan is a first-year player and has started off strong in the second part of the season. She was game star in Thursday s home game vs. NAIT: her 2 goals contributed to the 6 to 1 win. In Saturday s 5-2 win over NAIT, Megan helped the team out with a goal and 2 assists. Megan was plus five for the weekend in 5-on-5 play and plus 2 in special teams play. Rob Weddell, Queens Hockey QH face UofC at home on Thursday and away on Saturday. Despite sitting in 4 th place UofC are not a team to take lightly. Only 5 points behind RDC (currently in 1 st ), they have the number one Power play and Penalty kill in the league. Craig Behan, Kings Basketball Next weekend vs. SAIT difficult weekend with playoffs on the line. Dawn Smyth, Queens Basketball This week we face second place SAIT. We are aiming to be competitive with this veteran team this weekend. We are looking forward to the challenge. Talbot Walton, Queens Volleyball Well the Queens are doing what they need to do. We are sitting at 4 and 0 in the second half. The upcoming weekend versus GPRC will be a really good indicator on just how badly the Queens want to be a contender. GP is a scrappy team that can play really well in spurts. The Queens will need to do a really good job on block responsibility, and then converting their defence into offense. Aaron Schulha, Kings Volleyball We have GP here on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. They got their first win of the season this weekend with a 3-0 win over TKUC so they will be coming in confident and with nothing to lose..it will be a good test to see what our team is made of. Chad Cargill, Badminton Interlock #3 is the individual tournament (each individual earns points towards team total). Big weekend; some roster changes to other teams have opened the door for us to medal; getting to that goal starts with this weekend. Team is in good form coming off a trip to Florida. Page 2 of 5
