CMU posted a victory on the road at Ball State to open MAC play. Junior Reyna Frost posted a double-double (23 pts., 19 rebs.) to lead the Chippewas past the Cardinals. CMU leads the all-time series versus the Bobcats, 33-30, which began in Under Guevara s guidance, the Chippewas hold a 10-5 mark against Ohio. The Chippewas swept the season series a year ago with the last meeting on Feb. 15 in Athens, Ohio. CMU topped the Bobcats, 70-64, and Guevara became CMU s all-time winningest women s basketball coach. CMU holds a all-time Mid-American Conference mark. Central Michigan is against MAC opponents and in McGuirk Arena under Guevara. TRENDING Central Michigan ranks ninth in the CollegeInsider.com Mid- Major Top 25 poll. The Chippewas leads the MAC and ranks second in the NCAA in free throw percentage (83.3). CMU continues to lead the conference and ranks fifth in the NCAA averaging 10.2 triples per game. The next best MAC team is Northern Illinois who averages 9.0. Central Michigan has drained 122 triples, which is good for first in the MAC and 19th in the country. The Chippewas have an explosive offense, averaging 81.3 points per game, which ranks third in the league and 22nd in the NCAA. CMU s 38.2 three-point percentage (122-of-319) ranks third in the MAC and 24th in the nation. Miami leads the league at 40.0 percent (84-of-210). Central Michigan is one of three MAC teams that have a double-digit scoring margin at points. This ranks second in the MAC and 50th in the country. Through nine games, CMU s line-up features eight players who average double-digit minutes played and four players who average double figures in scoring. By scoring 103 points at Oakland, CMU surpassed the 100-point barrier for the 12th time under head coach Sue Guevara. Junior Presley Hudson is leading the MAC and ranks third in the nation averaging 4.0 triples per game. Hudson is fourth in the country and leads the league with a 95.7 free throw percentage (44-of-46). Hudson has drained 48 triples this season, which leads the league and good for 11th in the country. Hudson is averaging 18.3 points per game, which ranks fourth in the MAC and 72nd in the nation. Again, junior Reyna Frost is dominating on the boards as she ranks second in the nation in rebounds per game (13.5) and fifth in offensive boards per game (5.0), respectively. Frost is grabbing 8.5 defensive board per game, which leads the MAC and ranks eighth in the NCAA. Frost has recorded six double-doubles, which leads the team and ranks 36th in the nation. Senior Tinara Moore is shooting 57.6 percent from the floor (72-of-125), which ranks fourth in the MAC and 27th in the NCAA. Former Chippewa Niki DiGuilio ( ) holds the record at 288. Breen passed Shonda Long ( ) for second all-time after making six triples vs. Iowa State (11/25/17). Breen now has pointers. BIG WIN FOR CMU IN MAC OPENER Central Michigan opened its Mid-American Conference season on the road against Ball State on Dec. 31, and it went as good as they had hoped in Worthen Arena. Not only did the Chippewas defeat the Cardinals, 69-65, to snag the first conference win, but CMU also handed BSU its first loss of the season. Central Michigan, which snapped a two-game losing streak, improved to 9-3. The Cardinals (11-1) entered the game ranked fifth in the CollegeInsider. com Mid-Major Top 25. The Chippewas are ranked 13th in the poll. Junior forward Reyna Frost tied her season-high with 23 points and set a season-high in rebounds with 19, marking her sixth double-double of the season, to lead the Chippewas. She went 5-of-6 from the free throw line. The two teams squared off and it was a battle, as expected, from the opening tip. Ball State collected 18 points off of Central Michigan s 26 turnovers, but the Chippewas were able to grab 55 rebounds to the Cardinals 44, and CMU made 17 of its 19 free throw attempts, including 14-of-15 in the second half. It came down to trading baskets in the final quarter. Central Michigan held the lead for the majority of the game and had a advantage going into the final quarter. Ball State used a 14-2 surge to tie it at with just over five minutes remaining. It was the first of five times the game would be tied in the final quarter. Frost broke the final deadlock with a jumper from the free throw line with 1:15 remaining, putting the Chippewas up The started a 6-0 run during which Micaela Kelly and Presley Hudson combined to go 4-for-4 from the free throw line. That extended the lead to with under 10 ticks remaining. Hudson and Tinara Moore had 13 points apiece for the Chippewas Moore also had 14 rebounds and a season-high five blocks. It was her fifth double-double of the season. CMU DROPS NONCONFERENCE FINALE Tinara Moore scored 23 points to lead Central Michigan as it fell short to Quinnipiac in McGuirk Arena on Dec. 21, It was the Chippewas final nonconference game of the season. CMU fell to 8-3 overall. In a night where the Chippewas lacked offensively, the free throw line was not in their favor. Despite entering the game ranked second nationally in free throw percentage, CMU struggled to sink them at the charity stripe, finishing 7-of-13 (53.8 percent). Reyna Frost added 14 points and shared the team-high with Moore for rebounds with eight apiece. The two forwards combined to drain three of Central Michigan s nine 3-pointers. The Chippewas finished 31 percent from beyond the arc. Carly Fabbri led Quinnipiac with 20 points while Aryn McClure grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Presley Hudson had seven assists and added nine points. SCOUTING OHIO Central Michigan will continue Mid-American Conference play when the Chippewas host Ohio on Wednesday, January 3 at 7 p.m. in McGuirk Arena. The Bobcats are 7-5 overall and are led by fourth-year head coach Bob Bolden. Ohio started conference play with a win over Toledo on Dec. 31. Sophomore guard Amani Burke is averaging a team-high 13.1 points per game, while freshman guard Cierra Hooks and junior guard Dominique Doseck are adding 12.2 and 11.3, respectively. Hooks is grabbing a team-best 4.8 rebounds per game, while redshirt senior Taylor Agler is dishing out 4.4 assists per game. CMU leads the all-time series versus the Bobcats, 33-30, and has won 10 of the last 13 games. UP NEXT FOR THE CHIPPEWAS Central Michigan will continue Mid-American Conference play at Miami on Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio. The RedHawks are led by first-year head coach Megan Duffy and are 9-3 overall. Miami posted a close victory over Northern Illinois to open MAC play on Dec. 30. MU is undefeated (6-0) at its home site, Millet Hall. Last year s MAC Freshman of the Year, Lauren Dickerson is averaging a team-high 21.3 points per game and has recorded 70 assists. Junior Kendall McCoy is grabbing a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game, while redshirt senior Megan Galloway is shooting 61.8 percent (34-of-55) from the floor. Miami leads the all-time series, 32-28, but the Chippewas swept the RedHawks in FROST EARNS MAC WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK Junior Reyna Frost was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Jan. 2. Frost, a 6-foot junior forward, played a huge role in the Chippewas victory at Ball State in their MAC opener on Dec. 30. Frost scored 23 points and hauled down 19 rebounds as CMU won on the road against one of its top division rivals. Frost s 19 rebounds were a season-high, and her 23 rebounds tied her season-high. It was her sixth double-double of the season. Frost made 9-of-12 field goal attempts (75 percent) and went 5-for-6 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line as CMU CENTRAL MICHIGAN -3- CHIPPEWAS BASKETBALL improved to 9-3. It marked the second time this season that Frost has earned the weekly MAC award. OFFENSIVE WEAPON Junior Presley Hudson has scored in double-figures in 10 games, including six with 20+ points. She ranks fourth in the MAC averaging 18.3 points per game and ranks third shooting 42.5 percent (48-of-113) beyond the arc. Hudson leads the team with 63 assists and averages 5.3 dimes a game, which is tied for third in the conference. She ranks third in the nation and leads the league with 4.2 triples per game. Hudson has made 48 3-pointers this season, which ranks 11th in the nation and leads the MAC. Last season, Hudson has breached the 30-point mark against Kent State (36) on Dec. 31, Akron (35) on Jan. 4, Bowling Green (34) on Jan. 14., and Northern Illinois (33) on Feb. 22. THE MACHINE Junior Reyna Frost continues to dominate the boards as she ranks second in the nation and first in the MAC with 13.5 rebounds per game. She also ranks fifth in the NCAA and leads the MAC with offensive boards per game (5.0). Frost has grabbed double-digit rebounds in 10 games this season. She ranks second in CMU program history in career rebounding average (10.8). Frost has recorded 833 career rebounds, which ranks 10th in the CMU record book. CHARITY STRIPE NUMBERS Central Michigan leads the MAC and ranks second in the nation with a 83.3 free-throw percentage (184-of-221). The Chippewas were perfect from the line (18-of-18) at Indiana State on Dec. 9, which was the fourth time in program history. Junior Presley Hudson leads the MAC and ranks fourth in the nation with a 95.7 free throw percentage (44-of-46). Redshirt freshman Micaela Kelly ranks second on the team, going 26-of-29 (89.7%) and seniors Cassie Breen and Tinara Moore are shooting 87.0 percent (20-of-23) and 79.7 percent (47-of-59), respectively. FOR THE THREE Senior Cassie Breen needs 38 three-pointers to become CMU s career leader. Former Chippewa Niki DiGuilio ( ) holds the record at 288. Breen is currently second all-time with 251 career triples. Breen passed Shonda Long ( ), who made 230 three-pointers in four seasons, on Nov. 25 with six 3 s vs. Iowa State. Breen has a.396 career 3-point percentage, which ranks second in program history. DOUBLE TROUBLE Senior Tinara Moore posted her 30th career double-double (13 pts., 14 rebs.) at Oakland on Dec. 3. The Chippewas have posted a 24-5 record when Moore records a double-double ( ), 5-1 ( ) and 5-0 ( ). Moore is ranked third in career double-doubles during the Guevara era. Former Chippewas Crystal Bradford ( ) and Kaihla Szunko ( ) ranks first and second with 54 and 42 double-doubles, respectively. Bradford record two triple-doubles, while Szunko posted one during their time in the Maroon and Gold. WE WANT MOORE Senior Tinara Moore ranks second in the MAC and ranks 48th

4 in the nation averaging 2.0 blocks per game. She is tied for second in program history with 160 blocks and need 12 more to become CMU s all-time leader. Former Chippewa Crystal Bradford ( ) currently holds the record with 171 blocks. IN SUE WE TRUST Central Michigan head coach Sue Guevara captured her 300th career win after a victory over Vanderbilt on Nov. 14. She became CMU s all-time winningest women s basketball coach with a victory at Ohio on Feb. 15. It was her 172nd win on the Chippewa bench, as she passed Donita Davenport, who earned 171 wins as the Chippewa mentor from Guevara holds a mark as CMU s coach and a career record. Guevara coached her 500th career game at Purdue on Dec. 6., Guevara passed another milestone as she coached her 300th CMU game vs. Akron on Jan. 4, Guevara coached seven seasons at Michigan and garnered a overall record. Guevara holds a record against MAC teams during league play. She earned her 100th MAC win versus Northern Illinois on Feb. 22, Under Guevara s guidance, the Chippewas have won at least 20 games in a season five of the last six years. CMU earned its second MAC regular-season title in program history and first under coach Guevara. Coach Guevara has led CMU to back-to-back MAC West Division titles (2016, 2017) and to a MAC Championship in CHIPPEWAS SIGN FOUR Central Michigan head coach Sue Guevara has announced the signing of Emari Bell of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Sam Robinson of Bradford, Ontario, Jahari Smith of Romeoville, Ill. and Anika Weekes of Toronto, Ontario to National Letters of Intent. Bell is a 6-foot-3 forward from Jones High School; Robinson is a 6-1 forward who plays at Bradford High School. Smith, 6-foot center plays at Bolingbrook High School and Weekes is a 5-10 guard from St. Joseph s College School. Bell played her first three seasons at Edgewood High School before transferring to Jones. Bell led Edgewood to the Florida Class 7A state semifinals in Robinson led Bradford junior team to Georgian Bay Secondary School Association AAA championship in Smith reach 1,000 career points during her junior year and earned a spot on the Joliet, Ill. Herald-News All-Area Team. Weekes is a three-time team captain and average 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game in CMU SELECTED FIRST IN MAC WEST The Central Michigan women s basketball team was picked to win the overall Mid-American Conference West Division, the overall regular-season championship, and the league tournament in a poll of league coaches.. Two Chippewas in Presley Hudson and Tinara Moore were named to the five-member West Division Preseason All-MAC team. CMU earned 70 points and 10 first-place votes in the balloting. Toledo was picked second with 60 points, and was followed by Ball State (46), Western Michigan (32), Northern Illinois (29) and Eastern Michigan (15). Buffalo, with 69 points and 10 first-place votes, was picked to win the East Division. The Chippewas were selected by nine voters to win the league tournament. Ball State, Buffalo and Western Michigan all received one vote. CMU won the 2017 MAC regular season title, which was the first time since Central Michigan has won three MAC West titles (2014, 2016 and 2017), and four Chippewas earned All-MAC honors. Presley Hudson and Tinara Moore were both named to the All-MAC First Team, Jewel Cotton and Reyna Frost earned All-MAC Third Team honors and Moore was voted MAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team. ENBERG SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR Senior Cassie Breen was the female recipient of the 2017 Dick Enberg Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which goes annually to a junior student-athlete who has a minimum 3.20 GPA, has performed with distinction in their sport and is considered a team leader. Breen, who carries a 3.61 GPA and is working toward a double major in psychology and sport management, has developed into a steadying force on the court, appearing in 93 games 76 of them starts and averaging 10.7 points per game in her career. She has twice been named Academic All-MAC, and has taken on a lead role in all the charitable and community involvement in which the women s basketball team is involved. MEMORABLE YEAR The Chippewas 23 wins in marked the second-highest in program history. The squad, coached by Laura Golden, finished 27-3, including 18-0 in the MAC. CMU s 15 MAC wins (against three losses) last season tied for the third most in program history. The Chippewas claimed their first regular-season Mid-American Conference championship since 1985, won the second-most games in program history, and made their sixth post-season tournament appearance in the last seven years. HOW THE WEST WAS WON The Chippewas took home the MAC regular-season championship and the league s West Division crown in amassing a conference record of 15-3 including an 8-2 mark within the division. The regular-season title is the third in school history and first under head coach Sue Guevara. The West Division title is the third in program history, all during Guevara s tenure. The journey to the conference title included four games where CMU scored 100-plus points and included thrilling home wins against Toledo and Ball State. Having the winningest coach in program history definitely doesn t hurt the cause. Cassie Breen scored a 26 points as CMU handed MAC East-leading Ohio a loss at the Bobcats Convocation Center. The win lifted the Chippewas to 19-6, 11-2 MAC, as they maintained their shared of first place in the West with Northern Illinois, a winner over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday. Ohio fell to 18-6, 9-4, and lost at home for just the second time this season. The win was Sue Guevara s 172nd as she became the all-time winningest coach in CMU women s basketball history. Guevara, who is in her 10th year at CMU, is as the Chippewas coach. She surpassed Donita Davenport, who went as CMU s coach from Breen, a junior guard who scored 23 points in CMU s win Saturday over Western Michigan, scored 19 points in the first half. She made five of her seven 3-point attempts in the game, was 8-for-11 from the floor overall, and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Quiera Lampkins, the MAC s second-leading score, had a seasonhigh 32 points to lead Ohio. The Chippewas overcame Lampkins and a season-high 26 turnovers. Ohio scored 23 points off of those CMU turnovers, but the Chippewas made up for it on the boards, outrebounding the Bobcats, Senior forward Jewel Cotton tied her season-high with 13 boards to lead CMU, while Tinara Moore and Reyna Frost added eight apiece. Presley Hudson had 16 points and Moore added 14. The Chippewas trailed, 15-4, at one point in the first quarter. The Chippewas took their first lead, 25-23, on a Breen layup with 3:31 left in the half, and led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter. But the Bobcats weren t going down that easily as they cut the deficit to only one point twice in the last five minutes, the last at with 2:52 to play. CMU went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the final 1:53 to hold off the Bobcats. McGuirk Arena Feb. 1, 2017 Central Michigan 64, Ohio 59 Tinara Moore scored all 18 of her points in the second half as Central Michigan bounced back from consecutive losses with a Mid-American Conference victory before 1,460 at McGuirk Arena. The win against MAC East-leading Ohio improved the Chippewas to 15-6, 7-2 MAC. CMU is third in the West behind Northern Illinois and Ball State at the midpoint of the conference schedule. Ohio fell to 16-5, 7-3 MAC. The Chippewas were coming off back-to-back road losses, the first to Buffalo, the second to Toledo. Foul trouble limited Moore s first-half playing time. The junior forward responded in the final two quarters, going a perfect 5-for- 5 from the field and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Five of her six rebounds came in the second half. The game was close throughout with eight lead changes, six ties, and neither team leading by more than six points. A Moore bucket with under 3 minutes to play in the third quarter put CMU in front for good, 39-38, but Ohio hung tough the rest of the way and turned it into a white-knuckler. The Chippewas finished a perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line, marking just the third time in program history they have finished at 100 percent from the charity stripe. CMU teams went 11-for-11 against Northern Illinois in a 2015 game, and were also 11-for-11 in a 2004 game against Detroit. CMU was 10-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter. Moore and Cassie Breen combined to go 8-for-8 over the final 23 seconds to ice it. Reyna Frost added 13 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for the Chippewas. It was the fourth double-double of the season for the sophomore forward, who entered the game sixth in the nation at 11.4 rebounds per game. Ohio finished with a edge on the boards, marking the third consecutive game that CMU has been outrebounded. Quiera Lampkins scored 24 points to lead the Bobcats, who saw their win streak end at four games. Presley Hudson added 13 points for CMU and Breen had 10. In , Guevara led CMU to one of the very best seasons in program history, as the Chippewas claimed their first regular-season Mid-American Conference championship since 1985, won the second-most games in program history, and made their sixth post-season tournament appearance in the last seven years. It was her 172nd win on the Chippewa bench, as she passed Donita Davenport, who earned 171 wins as the Chippewa mentor from Guevara brings a mark as CMU s coach into the season, and she has 299 career wins. The Guevara-led Chippewas provided myriad highlights, including program record scoring, blocked shot, and 3-point single-game performances; four games in which they surpassed the 100-point plateau; win streaks of six and then seven games; and a perfect 3-0 mark in overtime games. Individual accolades followed the team success, as Tinara Moore and Presley Hudson were named to the All-MAC First Team, while Rayna Frost and Jewel Cotton were named to the third team. It marked the first time since 1991 that CMU has had as many as two players named to the All-MAC First Team. Moore received the MAC Defensive Player of the Year Award after leading the conference in blocked shots. Frost was the conference leader, and ranked sixth nationally, in rebounds per game. Hudson knocked down 92.6 percent of her free throw attempts, also tops in the MAC and an impressive fourth among all Division I players in the nation. The Chippewas shined just as brightly off the court as they did on, as a record six earned Academic All-MAC honors. The season was the latest in a string of successes for Guevara, who has built the Chippewas into a perennial contender in the MAC. Eight times in program history the Chippewas have won at least 20 games in a season; six of those 20-win campaigns have come in the past seven years under Guevara. Over that span, Guevara has led the Chippewas to a regular-season MAC title, a MAC Tournament title, three MAC West titles, and six post-season bids, including a berth in the NCAA Tournament in The track record has come not only against stiff in-conference competition, but outside as well as Guevara has consistently put her troops on the floor against the best of the best. CMU opened the season with a visit to top-ranked Notre Dame. Among the other elite programs the Chippewas have gone head-to-head with during Guevara s tenure are South Carolina, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oregon, Purdue and Duke. Of the Chippewas nine losses last season, just one came at home, and that was to Elon, a team that won both the Colonial Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships, finished 27-7, and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Chippewas finished 15-1 at McGuirk Arena, a program high for home-court wins. Elon was one of eight Chippewa opponents who finished the season within the top 100 in RPI. At 43, CMU closed the season with the best RPI ranking among the 12 MAC schools. The season began with high expectations after Guevara guided the young Chippewas to a surprising finish and a MAC West title in Guevara was named the MAC Coach of the Year, becoming the first Chippewa women s basketball coach to accomplish that feat in more than three decades. That squad, led by Hudson, the MAC Freshman of the Year Award winner, along with Moore, Frost and Cotton reached the MAC Tournament title game, where it fell in overtime, and went on to earn a berth in the WNIT. Guevara s ledger of players who have earned individual league honors during her time at CMU includes three who have been named the league freshman of the year, four who have garnered the Sixth Player of the Year Award, eight who have been named to the all-freshman squad, two who have been named the league defensive player of the year, and two who have captured the MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player Award. Among those to capture several of those individual honors is Crystal Bradford, who closed a brilliant collegiate career in 2015 as CMU s career leader in points, rebounds, field goals made and blocked shots. Bradford, twice named to the All-MAC First Team, was named the MAC Player of the Year and the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in She was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2015 with the seventh pick in the WNBA draft, becoming the first Chippewa drafted by a WNBA team, and, at No. 7, the highest pick in history to come from a MAC institution. She is also the only player in program history to earn Women s Basketball Coaches of America Region 4 All-American nominee honors, claiming the honor in both and Under Guevara, 11 players have joined CMU s 1,000-point club, four of whom rank in the top-10 in career scoring. Among the other highlights of Guevara s tenure: A single-game attendance record, 5,195, for a home game against Georgetown on Nov. 25, Defeating the highest-ranked team in program history, No. 12/14 Purdue, on Dec. 11, 2011, which was also the first CENTRAL MICHIGAN CHIPPEWAS BASKETBALL

11 victory in McGuirk Arena. An upset of No. 23 Louisville on Dec. 2, 2010, which was the final win in Rose Center. Guevara was named to head the Chippewa program in April, 2007, bringing three decades of collegiate coaching experience, including seven ( ) as the head coach at Michigan. Guevara compiled a record at U-M and her 123 victories are more than any coach in Wolverine women s basketball history. U-M had finished a combined in the four seasons prior to Guevara s arrival in Ann Arbor. Guevara took Michigan into the national spotlight, leading it to five postseason appearances including NCAA Tournament berths in 1998, 2000 and The Wolverines were ranked as high at 12th nationally during the season and again in She was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in both 1998 and in In , Guevara s Wolverines posted 22 victories and finished second in the Big Ten regular-season standings, which remains U-M best finish in conference play. The 22 victories are tied for the most in program history. Four Wolverines were drafted by WNBA teams during Guevara s tenure. Guevara served as an assistant at Michigan State under Karen Langeland for nine seasons ( ) before being promoted to associate head coach for her 10th season with MSU. The Spartans posted a record of during Guevara s time in East Lansing. Before MSU, Guevara spent a season as an assistant coach at Ball State after serving as a graduate assistant at Ohio State in She helped the Buckeyes to the Big Ten championship and a trip to the regional final of the NCAA Tournament. Guevara led the Big Ten All-Star team on a European tour through Austria, Slovakia and Hungary in She also was an assistant coach for the 1993 Big Ten tour team that recorded a perfect 6-0 record while playing in England and Scotland. Guevara s coaching career began on the softball diamond as the head coach at Saginaw Valley State from She also served simultaneously as an assistant coach in the women s basketball program.
