The Boilers are averaging 32.6 points per game in the painted area this season, and are outscoring opponents by an average of 6.6 points per contest on the block. Purdue has either led or tied in paint points in 17 of its 21 games this season. The focal point of Purdue s inside attack has been center A.J. Hammons, who is averaging 10.7 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting. He has 11 double-figure scoring performances on the season, including a pair of 20-point efforts and a 30-point performance against Indiana on Jan. 30. guards making rebounding a total team effort Purdue s +5.4 rebounding margin on the year would not be possible were it not for the fact that its top five guards in terms of minutes played - D.J. Byrd, Rapheal Davis, Anthony Johnson, Ronnie Johnson and Terone Johnson - are averaging a combined 19.4 boards per game. Terone Johnson has posted two points/rebounds double-doubles on the year, and ranks second on the team with an average of 5.1 boards per game. The Muncie, Ind., native has also been a fixture with USA Basketball in recent years. In 2011, he served as the head coach of the U.S. Men s World University Games Team. Prior to that, Painter won gold as an assistant coach with Team USA at the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. Painter played in 109 games for Purdue from , making 50 starts and averaging 4.5 points and 2.5 assists per game. Under Keady s mentorship, he helped lead the Boilermakers to three NCAA Tournaments and a 1992 NIT berth.
